a neighbour is growing sunflowers…
for the longest time we couldn’t figure out what the plants were, lol…
they are as tall as their house and just recently the sunflower head became visible… obviously, these plants have enjoyed the weather…

had a nice walk this morning although it was 4° Celsius and windy…
saw some nasturtiums and a very tall sunflower… apparently it was a yellow day, lol…
and these cute little ghosts flying in the wind..
quite a few Halloween decorations out there…

this morning the Flower Therapy card that I selected was a sunflower and advised that smiling was healing and made you feel better…
I often bop around in the car as I drive to and from work listening to the radio and dancing along with the music… it makes me smile as I wonder what the people in the other cars are thinking…
as I was heading home my joy ornament was glittering in the sunlight….
brought a smile to my face…
and that was right after driving towards the very bright sun dogs in the sky…
there was lots to smile about today… and it did make me feel better…
as the date of my beloved’s passing looms closer I am trying to give myself the space to be in the moment and let the sadness come and go as needed…

early morning in the garden…
saw lots of flowers…

while I was waiting for my ride I got this shot of the pretty moon…
and some ladybugs…
on my way home tonight I took a shot of the dot on this elm tree which has been tagged for removal…
reminded me of the early morning ladybugs…

been missing George a lot lately… maybe it has to do with how bad the garden looks, lol…
haven’t done any weeding for weeks and haven’t touched the side garden all summer…
this sunflower has grown up from seeds tossed out of the feeder by the birds… George would never have let that happen… he spent time nearly every day weeding the various beds and they usually looked tidy…

of course, the purple coneflowers have survived since I planted them last year… George wasn’t here to pull them out as they popped through the soil in the spring… if you know this plant you will know that it does look similar to a weed… George would pull them out every spring after we had planted them the previous year…

it got to be a family joke…
just yesterday the little boys were asking me to read The Pink Giraffe to them and I couldn’t bear to… it was one of the last books he read to them before he died… maybe next time they ask I will be able to read it to them…

now it is drying in the kitchen…

ia couple of days ago someone asked if I had taken a picture of the beautiful sky…
I said that I hadn’t but didn’t mention that my camera is in the shop… I have really been missing it… the shutter hadn’t been opening properly for a few weeks and I was having to touch it to get it to open all the way… a couple of days ago it just quit opening…
I talked to someone at the store where I had purchased it and they gave me the name of a repair shop in the city to take it to… they also suggested it might be cheaper to just buy a new camera… I said I didn’t want a new camera because I really like this one…
at the shop, the woman who helped me, said they all say that, lol… they send a quote by email and you can accept or reject it… if you accept it, they go about fixing your camera… not sure what happens when you reject the quote, maybe you get your camera back in bits and pieces… anyway, they are working at fixing it and the price wasn’t at all bad… but I am missing it…
today, as I was leaving home, I got a picture with my phone of the sunflower… I think it now has all the seeds filled in, but don’t know how long it takes to be ready, or maybe it is ready now that it is all filled in…

I ran out to pick up some lunch and going down the lane I spotted a butterfly landing under a car and got a shot of it, not a very good one though… I’m sure the people walking along thought I was a bit nuts…

this morning it was overcast but I stepped outside to take a few pictures…
I was particularly wanting a couple of shots of the sunflower, which is about the same height as me… looking out the window daily I can see the seed area filling in…

also took a couple of pictures in the back yard… for a few days now I’ve been noticing that the mirrors, which were up for the Champagne Bubble Party, and which have been slowly falling off the various surfaces, have been moved around…
when they have fallen off, I have picked them up and put them along the top of the deck… they seemed to sit there for quite a while, but lately they have moved… I don’t think it is the wind because that would have blown them all into one area… there are some on the decks – all three levels, and some in the grass, but very few left on the ledge…
mirrors scattered about the garden…
am starting to think that maybe my squirrel friends are playing with them, although I haven’t caught any in action…
what do you think…

been watching the sunflower plant and it is not following the sun… we think it might be that the sun is reflected in the living room window and it is confused about which way to turn… every day the centre is growing and changing…

had a very relaxing day… watched a few cooking shows this morning…
spent some time making corn chowder and tidying up the kitchen… chowder came out very nice…
spent the remainder of the day reading… lovely to be able to read and nap and read some more…
boiled some small potatoes with dill and a few fresh peas to go along with the little bit of leftover roast from last night and also produced a little cucumber and tomato salad…

yesterday I took a picture of the sunflower in the front garden starting to open…
sunflower just starting to open through the window…
I didn’t plant it there, but apparently I haven’t done any weeding for a while and all of a sudden there it was big and bold in the garden… couldn’t pull it out after that…

so I’ve been watching it and this morning as I was leaving the driveway I took a couple of pictures…

as I wasn’t home, I couldn’t see if it swivelled around to follow the sun, but maybe I will be able to see that on the weekend…
it is always such fun to see a field of sunflowers turning their faces to follow the sun…
