today I went in search of tea… my all-time favourite one has been discontinued and I’ve been searching for a replacement…
I stopped in at the Farmers Market at City Place and talked with two different tea companies… going to pick up a sample next time from one, and got a few samples from the other…
I also went online and ordered my second favourite tea… and it was delivered to the office within a few hours…
lovely collection…
will be filling some tea bags tomorrow…

started the day sharing tea and croissants with a very special person… such a lovely way to begin the weekend…
was going to grocery shop, but it just felt too cold, so home I came, lol…
the snow on the hot tub cover was amazing and it looked like the siding was melting… it wasn’t, thank goodness… a very cool optical illusion…
then it was laundry and sports on tv;-)…

in December we had a Random Acts of Kindness contest at work… we added berries to the wreath whenever we did something kind, or saw someone else doing something kind… at the end of the contest we sent a donation to a local charity…
have been thinking a lot about kindness lately…
from friends taking meals to support others…
to someone bringing me a cup of tea while I was deep in a project…
to the person who brought me my favourite lunch treat for no reason…
whenever I see frost on my garage window I remember the kindness of someone who invited me to their house not long after my beloved died… the frost on the window in their garage was stunning and I will always remember taking some pictures of it…
people are kind…

set the alarm for 4 this morning to watch the Royal Wedding…
got some shortbread cookies from the freezer, almonds and Morden’s dark chocolate wafers… made tea and had it in a mug that had a bunch of birds perched on a branch, looking at something… lovely little treat as I watched…
had a nap later in the day and then spent some time reading in the sunshine…
baked some chicken, mashed cauliflower and coleslaw… it was very tasty…
reminded me of my mother-in-law who made delicious coleslaw, and a lovely elder who taught me to make coleslaw for large groups… I still use the recipe that has to be divided by four to make a reasonable amount for a family, lol…

had a wonderful day… treated to a manicure and lunch with a very special person…
after our manicures we went a few doors down and had lunch… she started with a fancy cup of coffee and I asked for a cup of tea, but they don’t have tea on the menu… something about doing things well, and just focusing on coffee…
we shared a yummy cauliflower, roasted sweet potato and kale salad… then I had a carbonara pasta topped with shrimp… very tasty… she had a pizza named after a person, lol…
as we ordered our dessert my friend asked for plain coffee and was told they only make the fancy type… so, no regular coffee or tea… odd…
after we finished lunch, I headed home and spent the afternoon deep in a book… another treat as I haven’t done much reading lately…
final treat of the day was having the cleaning crew come and freshen up the house…
very nice end to the Easter weekend…

on Thursday I ran across to the CityPlace Farmers Market looking to refresh my stash of Teamate loose tea…
I really love their Ginger Peach and often make it in the evening using my wonderful Wall left handed tea mug… but sometimes it feels like too much effort… I usually make tea in a thermos, take the bag out after it has steeped and then have it for the next while… I don’t want to use loose tea in my thermos as it would be very difficult to get it clean afterwards…
a friend mentioned they had suggested to the tea person that they should put it into teabags… what a brilliant idea…
as it happens I have tea bags from David’s Tea, so I filled a few and then put them back into the empty Teamate package…
this morning I used one of those bags…
worked perfectly… and way less work…
made me think of my beloved… our all time favourite tea was Apricot Ginger from Twinings… we were so sad when it was discontinued and we never did find a good replacement… until now…
I’ve spent the day watching figure skating… drinking my tea and remembering how my beloved would watch tv in the basement, particularly when I was watching skating, so he wouldn’t have to watch it, lol…
sure do miss him…

got to enjoy a few treasures today…
this morning had my first taste of Michael’s Dolce Raspberry Chocolate Jam... oh my, it is delicious;-)… made with Hummingbird Chocolate… and it has very little sugar;-)… we picked it up when we visited the Hummingbird shop…
enjoyed it with tea in my new mug from The Windmill of Provence which I found at the Kingston Public Market, just a few weeks ago…
later in the day I had some Labooko 100% cacao bar from Zotter Chocolates…
this picture shows it with a beautiful piece of amethyst that I discovered in Kingston as well…

seemed to do a fair bit of waiting in my travels today…
started at the doctor’s office as I waited for my quarterly appointment to stay on top of the diabetes…
didn’t have to wait long and the report was good… my A1C has stayed the same and blood pressure was excellent…
then I dropped in at the Chamois because Shadow was so dirty you couldn’t tell what colour she was…
picked up a small bottle of de-icer just in case the doors wouldn’t open, although with the remote to open the locks, maybe that isn’t a problem… just remembered that George always carried some after he had the car washed, lol…
then I stopped at a store I wanted to go to… it wasn’t open so I went into the Subway next door to have a cup of tea and wait…
had big girl pants on as I sat there all by myself, calmly drinking tea…
this is a very big deal as just five years ago I would have sat and waited in the car… not a chance I would have gone into a restaurant on my own…
in the afternoon I went for a pedicure with a dear friend… we sat and waited for our aestheticians to collect us…
happy that the sandals are hard to spot, lol…
after our fun visit and relaxing foot work – we both had the paraffin treatment on our feet, and I even had my hands done –
we waited for our nails to dry…
and then I walked to the car with these lovely flip flops on…
final bit of waiting was for the chicken and dumplings to cook for my dinner…
now to rest;-)…

ate well today… started with smoothies… mine was the usual spinach, yogurt, avocado and almond milk… my daughter’s was banana, frozen red berries, coconut yogurt, a bit of spinach, almond milk, and chocolate nibs…
we made it out of the driveway… there was a good bit of snow in it but I didn’t get stuck…
did a bit of shopping, came home, picked up her luggage and went for sushi on the way to the airport…
yummy… and I didn’t eat too much…
got her to the airport and then went and picked up a few groceries…
made it home and into the garage without getting stuck…
my grandson and his girlfriend came over and he shovelled…
made them pizza and I had goldeye, salad and radishes…
after supper they headed across town…
I am now home alone…
with tea and the last two imperial cheese cookies from one of my Christmas gifts…

I love my tea in the morning… there isn’t time on weekdays to make it at home, so I have tea at the office…
on weekend mornings the first thing I do is fill my kettle to make a pot…
every time I take it out of the cupboard and fill it with water I think abut my dear friend Dobby who bought it for me after my hysterectomy in 2012… I wasn’t able to lift anything for many weeks afterward and my usual kettle was twice as heavy…
she stayed and looked after me for a week and fed me, entertained me and reorganized my freezer while she was here…
it made all the difference to my recovery as I was still struggling with pain and couldn’t even go up the stairs… she made lovely bits of food to encourage me to eat and helped me get outside to sit and enjoy the sun and fresh air…
so every time I see the kettle I think of her wonderful care…
and now I also remember fun with family…
this summer I went camping with my kids for a few weeks and I took along the kettle… it became a lifesaver… the first site we were at didn’t have electricity so I’d go to an empty site early in the morning so I could make a thermos of tea… then I realized that if I just put the hot water in the thermos there would be water for the tea I wanted and the coffee the kids like, but needed quite a bit later, lol… it also came in handy to heat up water for dishes…
at our second location we had two sites, one with electricity and one without… we’d put the kettle on the table by the power to heat for tea, coffee, hot chocolate and dish water and would run back and forth to get it for whatever we were working on… lots of fun…
this morning I had a raspberry smoothie with my tea…
great memories…
