big girl pants, chimes, Christmas, copper, friends, garden, George, heart, neighbours, sound, widow, wind
the new neighbours have put up some wind chimes… the kind that I like, not the high pitched tinkling ones…
wonder how long I will refer to the neighbours as new, lol…
reminds me of the wonderful ones that we had… they were a gift from friends and had a lovely deep sound…
one year we decided to make similar ones as our Christmas gift for friends…
George took ours apart to create the template and worked on them for weeks…
we had great difficulty finding the correct type of copper, but eventually all the bits and pieces were gathered up…
during that time he came down with an infection which damaged his heart… he just finished the gifts in time, as he was feeling so sick…
he never did put ours back together… I think the struggle to get the gifts done really tarnished his love of them…
a couple of months ago I found the bits for our original set, but apparently some of the pieces aren’t there…
I can’t figure out how to put it together but with the lovely sound coming from next door I think it’s okay…

big girl pants, blooming, cold, English Garden, groceries, nap, overcast, rain, Save-On-Foods, seafood, tree, walk, widow, wind
another overcast and rainy day… but, I decided to go for a walk anyway…
made it to the Park and part way around the Gardens before the rain began…
took at least six pictures, from various locations, of this tree in bloom… just stunning…
this shot has tulips and lilacs… the pond on the right is now filled with water and the fountains are running… excited for the water lilies to be added in…
this year the tulips are red and white, I’m thinking a nod to Canada 150… usually they are multi-coloured…
had to open the zoom and dry the camera when I got home to be sure it wasn’t damaged by the rain…
had some tea to warm my hands which felt frozen by the time I got home…
went to Save-On-Foods and did a grocery shop… been enjoying shopping there… they have the very best coconut Greek yogurt… with a low sugar content… they also carry the Pro Activ margarine that can be difficult to find… was nearly blown away trying to get to the car with the bags…
got home, put away the groceries and had a nap…
focused on seafood for the week’s meals…
made jumbo prawns with rice, fresh asparagus and green onion for dinner…

big girl pants, breakfast, buds, early sunshine, family, reading, the "A", walk, widow, wind
lovely walk to the “A” and back this morning…
my grandson was with me on the way there… we caught a few Pokémon and saw the mallard couple in the creek… it was a bit chilly because of the wind, but the sun was shining…
I had been up and made tea for the daddy who arrived after his overnight shift at work… he had a nap for an hour or so before we went for breakfast… on Sunday the “A” doesn’t open until 8… he and I have learned this the hard way…
he and the youngest drove over… was so hungry I forgot to take a picture of my meal, lol…
after breakfast they headed to their house and I walked back home…
warmer with the wind at my back… had to stop and take a few pictures of the buds starting on the big tree, maybe some kind of willow, just before I reached the house…
had a short nap and read in the sunshine in the living room for the remainder of the day…
my daughter and the younger boys came for dinner and a visit and I went back to reading when they left…
listening to the ducks flying over on their way back to the creek… love the sound of ducks and geese as they travel…

alarm, aquasize, big girl pants, exercise, firefighters, noise, weather, widow, wind
last night we were supposed to get a snowstorm but instead the wind swirled around the house… very little snow but we had a bit of snow and lots of cold wind all day…
tonight we decided we would go to aquasize even though it was blustery out…
rather proud of ourselves for going out in the miserable weather, lol…
had a good class, although there were only five of us…
got out of the pool and were drying off and getting dressed when the fire alarm went off…
terrible noise… everyone in the complex had to go to the front lobby and wait… with the alarm still ringing…
eventually the firefighters arrived and they spent about fifteen minutes going here and there… while the bells still rang…
eventually the alarm was turned off… at that point we couldn’t hear very well…
after another fifteen or twenty minutes we were allowed back in to get dressed…
we think that there actually was an issue although they never said anything while they were there…
made for an interesting evening…

big girl pants, bliss, camping, camping day 4, electricity, family, hissy fit, internet, packed, Rainbow Falls, sleep-in, sunshine, Technology, widow, wind
busy day today…
didn’t get up till 7… big sleep-in for me…
then we had pancakes with freshly picked blueberries and bacon… make a bacon sandwich with mine, thanks to my son-in-law’s suggestion;-)…

saw this cute little mushroom which popped up overnight…

then, as the sky clouded over, everyone helped with the packing up and there wasn’t a single hissy fit…
we had a leisurely drive toward our next destination and stopped at Rainbow Falls… pretty, and likely beautiful in the sunshine… wasn’t any when we were there, the wind was blowing, and there was a bit of spitting…

back into the caravan and we moved on… found the campground and our spot… happily no one was in it so we could unload and put up the tents…

the site is right on the water, without electricity, and the wind was crazy strong… took four of us to get the cover on one of the tents, lol… upside, there haven’t been any mosquitoes… we have a second spot across the road which does have electricity so we can charge the various technology, and also heat water for tea and coffee in the morning, lol…

all set up, required groceries and drinks purchased, and we sat and had a lovely quiet time reading… bliss…

sun was shining, screens and doors were open, and the kids went for a walk…
only downside, no showers or Internet… but the boys have found a spot that we can walk to and connect…

big girl pants, focus, frost, genuine, glittering, Travis Bradbury, wind
started the day by taking a picture of the chair outside the back door on my way to the garage…
it was glittering beautifully in the light… frost…
read an interesting article today, by Travis Bradbury, on genuine people… really resonated with me…
I printed it and plan to highlight a different paragraph every day to remind myself of the important message for me… being real in whatever you do… good to have something to work toward…
hard to focus on anything tonight… the wind is blowing like crazy… and there is a piece of loose siding just outside the bedroom banging against the house… hope it is still there in the morning…
think there is going to be more than frost on the ground when I get up…
18 Monday May 2015
woke up to this…
part way through the night the wind finally died down… apparently it was gusting into the 90 km per hour range at the airport, which is close to where I live… the whole house shook for a good part of the evening… didn’t really sleep well until it slowed down…
cold with a bit of wind during the day, but eventually the sun came out and melted the majority of the snow…
my daughter and the little boys came over for supper and she helped me put the swing back on its feet… sadly one of the spokes on the umbrella part of it broke, so we will have to see about getting that repaired…

the ground is covered with elm seeds, leaves, twigs and small branches that have come down… good news is that the tree stayed right where it was supposed to…
didn’t get out today but had a good walk on the treadmill…
had a fun time taking a few shots of the lobelia… I do love the flowers and enjoy taking the pictures…

today was the first day of my .9 time, so I was home…
was looking forward to running a few errands, maybe even working in the garden… but woke up to this…
really!!! and it was cold and windy…
got dressed and was ready to head out but then decided that I didn’t really need to run those errands…

so, I took off those clothes, stayed abed and watched tv all day…
warmed up a lovely dinner of last night’s leftovers…
had tea with one of my BS buddies, and climbed into bed…
it was nice to do nothing after the busy weekend of birthday activities…

this morning my ride couldn’t get into the city and I was lucky to be able to get a lift with another colleague… gave me a bit of extra time before getting picked up so I put on the big girl pants and went out in my heavy parka and shovelled the sidewalk and steps…
from the house it didn’t look that bad out but when I got there it was very windy… the snow wasn’t wet, but from all the blowing it had packed down and was quite difficult to pick up and move… could have made a great igloo…
got the job done and came inside and sat down and waited for my breathing to settle down… it was good to get it cleaned because I had a box of soup and dumplings to take in for Souper Thursday, lol…
I don’t think the dumpling experiment went very well, although everyone said they were good… just weren’t their usual fluffy selves…
have just come in from a lovely hot tub sitting in the moon beams… haven’t been out at this time of the evening for a very long time and it was great to be able to enjoy the moon shine…
