I’ve been taking an online iPhone photography course…
it has been excellent so far and I have enjoyed practising a few of the things I’ve learned… and I even got some pretty good pictures of the fish today…
happily, I’ve also realized that I already know many of the tricks of the trade…
a friend was coming over so I went out and did a quick shovel of the snow… there wasn’t really much out there, although the wind was a bit chilly… it was nice to be outdoors for a few minutes…
when she arrived we had tea in the living room and a great visit… multiple topics were covered as we discussed life and the odd times we are living in…
it was so lovely to have an in-person conversation…
she brought me a lemon loaf and also picked up some tulips and hyacinth at my request…
after she left, I had a fun time filling vases with tulips and distributing them in every room in the house…
there might still be huge amounts of snow outside, but in here it is Spring;-)…
this morning I watched a couple of bunnies on the deck looking for something to eat, so I tossed out a few carrots that I broke up for them…
I checked back a bit later and discovered one enjoying the treat…
reminded me of the bunny in the den… it is one of those Build-A-Bear animals that the boys and I had made when my beloved had his heart surgery…
the staff in the cardiology unit had recommended a pillow for him to hold against his chest when he coughed and we thought the bunny would be great… it worked well and he liked it;-)…
it wears scrubs, although a few pieces of the clothing have gone missing, lol…
it is a sweet reminder of a difficult, but special, time…
yesterday I drove the car… woohoo… it has been four months since I was last in it… I see the doctor every three or four months and that is the only time I am out and about on my own…
the drive was fine, although the corners were difficult to maneuver with so much snow making it hard to see if other vehicles were coming…
in the afternoon I also drove to the eye doctor’s office to have my glasses tightened… been a very long time since I’ve been in a store… they had excellent procedures in place which made it feel safe… and the great news is that now my glasses don’t fall off my face when I bend over, lol…
seems like everywhere I went there were big trucks that were being filled with snow on street corners…
spring is coming… there were puddles right next to huge banks of snow…
and then, my grandson arrived and off went the car;-)…
over the last week more and more of my Google Home products have gone offline…
at first it was 2 tp- link plugs, then a switch, then more of the plugs and finally my Geeni cameras… made me crazy…
and then the printer stopped because it couldn’t find the wifi…
my grandson got the printer going… yay…
the suggestion was that I should delete and then add all of the products back in… I did not want to do that… my plan was to call my provider to see if there was an issue with my internet…
was waiting for another call so didn’t get around to contacting the provider…
just for fun, I went in and turned off my wifi and then turned it back on…
getting ready for bed, I went to turn one of the plugs off manually only to discover that its light was blue, not the orange that meant it wasn’t connected…
recently I was asked for information on the picture hangers used in the living and dining rooms…
pieces of trim board are attached at the top of the ceiling or under the crown moulding that is already there… they are a bit like cove moulding as there is a little space behind the top of the rail…
we have S hooks that fit over the lip and hold up the fishing line that is attached to the artwork…
we found it works very well and means pieces can be moved around without marking up the walls… I even attach two pictures to the same hook…
my grandson moved on the weekend… he went from one apartment to another…
it reminded me of our move from our only apartment to our house… moving into the apartment had been an easier time as we were both coming from our parents’ homes and all of the furniture was delivered directly from the stores..
when we left the apartment, we didn’t have that much stuff and had friends to help us with the big things…
we arrived at the house eagerly around 9 am and discovered the elderly couple having tea at the kitchen table… they didn’t appear to be packed and may have forgotten they were leaving that day… yikes, it made for a stressful morning as we waited at the basically empty apartment, hoping they were going to be out in time for us to get in…
we had to be out of the apartment at the end of the day, so it did feel as though the clock was ticking…
when we turned up again at 3 pm they were gone and the house was empty…what a relief…
I have not moved since then… now there is a lot of stuff, lol…
I downloaded an app the other day, rather excited as it was supposed to copy old slides into electronic versions…
I found the slides I had put aside and followed the instructions and it made six great photos…
then, it advised I needed to buy the program to be able to save the photos… very disappointing… it is frustrating when the apps aren’t clear that you need to pay a certain amount to use them… with only a few slides paying $8 a month seemed a little excessive, lol…
it was fun to see the photos, even if only for a few minutes…
I had called the city as the fire hydrant in my front yard had been covered with a windrow when the city cleared the snow from the streets recently…
they also missed cleaning the end of my driveway… it hasn’t been shovelled for the last few storms so it was hard to tell there was actually a driveway there, lol…
anyway, a vehicle came with a big scoop on the front of it and I had a great time watching how well the driver maneuvered it… they cleaned out the area around the fire hydrant, and even got out to be sure where it was… for a minute I was worried about what would happen if they hit it… yikes…
then they cleared the windrow at the bottom of the driveway… they backed up and went down the street looking for places where they could dump it…
finally, they scraped a spot in front of the neighbour’s where two cars had been plowed in… the neighbour dug one out and moved it back a few feet, but there were a couple of inches of packed snow where the car had been… they danced around the vehicles… very talented people…
when I was out shovelling today, I took a few photos along the walkway… I had noticed crevices in the middle of the front snowbank and took a picture of one close to the sidewalk…
I hope it doesn’t cause an avalanche into the sidewalk, lol…
