lovely day in the garden…

read, ate a delicious chowder from Sentruhl and napped…

did not plant anything, although I really wanted to;-)…

thinking I will start to harden off the seedlings tomorrow… I’ve learned that the plants which are growing in the house need to go out a bit longer each day for a week or two, out of the sun and wind, to acclimatize them for the outdoors…

I see lots of lifting and carrying in my future;-)…

I was napping when the doorbell rang and I found three boxes on the doorstep… and a few days later, another box arrived…

they were from Irwin Tools and held a ton of excellent tools… levels, vice grips, knives, a measuring tape, a plane, straight lines, clamps and a ginormous hammer…

I won a contest on Instagram… how cool is that…

I will be sharing them with my grandson, son-in-law and maybe a few others, lol…

two friends dropped by at different times a few days ago…

one brought me a sad orchid she had which I am going to try and perk up… we both had masks on and she left the plant on the bottom step while I stood on the top… she moved close to the road and we spoke for a few minutes before she headed home…

about half an hour later anther friend brought me some chocolate which she had added to an online order and which had arrived… it is always fun to see what mask we each are wearing… we visited for a few minutes… she sat in a chair on the lawn while I sat on the steps…

I was happy to see actual people;-)…

what a wonderful time I had today on Google Duo…

I had ordered the Velvet Glove’s Mother’s Day High Tea, and the kids got Afternoon Tea from Zoe’s in the Chateau Laurier…

my grandson picked mine up and dropped it off here for me… it looked so cute…

we had such fun… their savoury items were different than mine, but it was fun to compare…

we ate our way through the savoury items, and then the sweet items… I was full, and still had four sweets left (gonna have them with my supper)…

we drank tea (mine was Liza Hill) and chatted about everything and nothing, lol…

using my fancy tea set was fun and a way to include the matriarchs in my family…

I absolutely loved the presentation that the Velvet Glove used… it was much fancier than Zoe’s, which was a surprise because Zoe’s have Afternoon Tea on their menu every day, lol… I am going to save the tiered platter to use again, or make tea for someone else;-)…

I will certainly order this again… thanks to Carly who provided great customer service at The Fairmont;-)…

had a great time in the garden on Friday, planning the steps to get it beautiful…

spent the time with Hilda the Gardener and we discussed flowers, beds, and watering options… what is needed and where to locate plants… we even moved a few planters around in the front… i am now looking for two more black ones to add in… a bit later I moved the ones out that are going into the garden…

she will be back this week to start the spring cleanup process…

today I took my dahlias, from The Dahlia Expert, out of the box and set them on the counter under the lights…

I’ve had them for a few weeks but hadn’t organized which pots they will be going into so they were just waiting in the box, unplanted…

this afternoon I watched a YouTube video that suggested setting them out in the light without soil or water… thought it was worth a try;-)…

if it works it will save a lot of carrying onto the deck and back inside every day until the weather reaches the sweet spot…

handy…

I’ve been waiting for awhile now for the table I ordered to sit on the side of the hot tub when I am in it…

had anticipated that it was about 30 inches across, although there weren’t any measurements on the website…

it arrived in a rather small box, so I was interested to open it up…

it is about the size of a tv table and once I got over the surprise of how small it was, I think it will work perfectly…

it fits nicely and also will hang at the backdoor so it will be easy to take out and bring in…

it is going to be very handy…

a week or so ago, the doorbell rang and a person asked if I wanted my vinyl siding fixed as they had noticed a couple of loose pieces…

I was thrilled, as in the fall my son-in-law and a neighbour had both tried to fix a couple of pieces on the front…

this person was working on a house down the street and came back on Saturday to do the fixes…

they also added more flashing to the garage so that the water won’t drip down behind the eavestrough…

so happy to have these pieces of siding put back into place and that I won’t have to listen to flapping in the wind anymore;-)…

had some fun separating my first birthday bouquet into four different vases…

there are now flowers in the living room, bathroom, bedroom and even the kitchen…

nice that I won’t have to carry flowers upstairs at the end of each day;-)…

beauty everywhere I look… such a treat…
