a few weeks ago I picked a beautiful ripe tomato from the tomato plant… when I turned it over it had blossom rot and I had to toss it..

last week I picked another one that had just started to turn the slightest shade of orange… it went onto a shelf in the kitchen and turned nicely red, and when it was turned over the bottom was perfect;-)… and it made a lovely open-faced sandwich…

today I took off the next tomato, this one is a bit smaller, but I am hopeful that it will ripen without the blossom rot;-)…

hoping that this will turn into another beauty…

yesterday I picked purple and green beans, a few peas and a bunch of dried peas (looks like I missed a whole feed of them, sigh)…

I also spotted some small cucumbers which are not quite ready but should be in a few days… mostly they are growing on the other side of the fence, lol…

once the veggies were picked, I topped and tailed them before cutting up…

I was so excited that I cooked them for my lunch… at least now I don’t get sad when the purple ones turn green when cooked, lol…

they were delicious;-)…

had some fun Tuesday morning in the garden…

happy to see the first hibiscus flower open… it didn’t seem to bloom as much as usual through winter…

and noticed begonias, tiny poppies and more bachelor buttons… the bachelor buttons have gone crazy, lol…

I’m hoping to capture some of their seeds and sprinkle them throughout the garden;-)…

and at last I saw some beans, purple ones, woohoo…

I even pulled weeds from the fancy morning glory planter…

they were planted late so I am hoping they will bloom before it gets too cold…

feels great as the garden is beginning to produce ;-)…

had fun in the Tropical Biome today checking on all the fruit…

saw cacao pods just beginning to grow…

also spotted jackfruit, star fruit, two bunches of bananas, and many breadfruit…

also spotted flowers on the mango, but a gardener advised the tree is too young to produce fruit, so likely they will die off…

I learn something new every time I am in the space;-)…

made it to the Wolseley Farmers Market today…

on the walk from the car to the market, spotted this sweet bumblebee on some purple flowers;-)…

I was so happy to find little cucumbers and green beans… and we got some lamb chops and bacon…

as soon as we arrived home I prepared half of the beans and then cooked and ate them…

my housemate was happy for me to have them all, lol…

what a treat…

this morning we drove to Miss Millie’s Flower Farm and had a lovely time in the fields…

my adventure buddy gathered flowers, and I gathered photographs with my Nikon… great fun for both of us…

of the 125 photos I took, I was very pleased with about 75…

the weather was perfect, overcast and cool, and there were few bugs… we had been there in August of 2022 and the mosquitoes had been voracious at that time…

the fields were not as far along due to the weather but it is a beautiful place to spend time in… so happy I remembered that taking pictures was more fun for me than gathering flowers;-)… and nice to get the camera out for a change;-)…

I also brought home some fresh eggs and a new tea mug (Sugar & Spice Pottery);-)…

finally made it to a farmers market today… when I worked we would often get to the market which was either beside, or in, the Hydro building…

this is just a small one, located in the parking lot of a fairly close grocery store…

so excited to get peas, yay… and carrots, radishes, green and regular onions, garlic, asparagus, baby potatoes (both white and red), and dill…

so far I’ve had peas with my lunch and supper, lol…

next up will be potatoes with peas, carrots, asparagus, and dill… yum…

on Friday evening the doorbell cam advised there was an animal in the front yard (bit fuzzy)…

I ran downstairs to watch out the window and was quite happy watching the two deer…

until one started to eat the plants in one of the planters…

I knocked on the window but it didn’t scare it…

stared right back at me…

and as I watched them head to the hostas next door, I went outside to scare them away…

but they really didn’t want to go… they even started walking towards me, but after about a three minute standoff, they finally crossed the street and headed toward the creek…

this morning I picked the peas from the side garden;-)…

had to use the step stool to get the higher ones and my housemate picked the last couple that I couldn’t reach…

I spent a lovely fifteen minutes shelling them…

then boiled and ate them for lunch…

yum, what a treat;-)…
