I figured I didn’t need thirty plates available at my fingertips for feeding all my company so I moved a number of plates and bowls and added a few Christmas ones where I can reach them;-)…
interesting how long it took me to let go of that stack… also moved some of my favourite dishes off a counter to fit in with the rest..
this morning I went into the garage and put birdseed into pails and a bin… I was very happy because the woman from Preferred Perch who delivered it last night put the bags on the table for me…
the bags weigh 50 pounds so that made it easier to fill the pails and bin and there is still one entire bag left…
I think there will be enough to last for quite a while…
with everyone learning how to connect with family and friends over the last six months or so, my daughter reminded me that we have been doing this for years…
just today, a Facebook memory was of a gathering we had eight years ago… my daughter was in BC, my son-in-law was in northern Alberta, and the rest of us were here…
technology has come a long way since then and there are many ways to connect… the main ones I currently use are Skype, Google Duo and FaceTime… I’ve been using Skype Organize a Conference Call without going through my Skype account, but over the last few weeks going through my account is working much better… I think I need to learn a bit about Zoom…
it would have been my beloved’s 72nd birthday tomorrow… we’ve commemorated it a number of ways over the years and this year I plan on dinner from Modern Plate Catering, with my Ottawa kids on Google Duo…
we’ve had some wonderful birthday celebrations over the years…
one of my favourites was his 61st birthday… he was recovering from quadruple bypass on his 60th, so we couldn’t do anything special, lol… on his 61st we had dinner out at Fusion Grill with his boy friends and their partners…
during his illness he had three particular friends who went for walks, coffee, talks and visits with him on a regular basis… it was such fun to spend time with them all together… it was a great surprise for him and everyone had a lovely time…
last night I spent ages searching for this picture and did not find it… this morning it came up in my Facebook memories, lol…
fun to remember some of those special times… makes the days happier;-)…
the first was from La Belle Baguette and included croissants, butter tarts and sourdough bread… I was hoping for scones, but they aren’t baking those just now…
I am so happy that they are doing deliveries on Fridays and Saturdays now that we have been shut down again… I shared the croissants and enjoyed my chocolate one… it was delicious, as always…
I had other things planned for dinner, but decided on a grilled cheese with onion and bacon… yum… the rest of that loaf will be cut up for stuffing and popped into the freezer…
the butter tarts were put into the freezer, either as a treat for me, or something to have should anyone drop anything off and I want to send something home with them…
a bit later in the day, my groceries from Save-On-Foods arrived… these days it takes four or five days for delivery and more items are out of stock… but, nearly everything gets here…
I am blessed to have these options available… and happy to do a bit of local purchasing where I can…
a friend dropped off an item she had picked up for me and we had a short chat… she by her car, and I on the steps with my mask on…
time online on the laptop searching and ordering various things… maybe even some Christmas presents…
had a lovely conversation with my Winnipeg son-in-law who then FaceTimed me and maybe got the timer working, lol… fingers crossed…
and it worked… I had read the directions and tried it a few times before talking with him… he is the timer-whisperer, lol…
also spoke with my Ottawa son-in-law who helped me out with a different issue…
I was on a call and the bell rang… my neighbour brought me a cute little tin filled with fresh baking;-)… woo hoo… and I gave her some books which were needing a new home;-)…
I am now answering the door with a mask on all the time, not that the doorbell rings very often, lol…
final event was a delivery from Save-On-Foods with needed groceries… early in the pandemic, it was taking 2 weeks to get groceries once ordered… then it was down to the next day, but now that we are going back into a more serious lockdown, it is taking 4 or 5 days… so blessed to have this option… now I just need to plan a little further ahead…
pleased with the dinner that was delivered last Friday from Modern Plate Catering… she is doing a Friday Family Dinner… I had used this business a number of times when I was working and found them efficient and willing to adjust for food issues… and the food was always top notch…
the directions were clear on how to heat everything and the packaging made it easy to know what went with what…
the meal was for two people so I knew I would get two suppers out of it…
added a couple of salads and while the oven was warming up I had the spinach one… it was delicious…
next I had one of the pieces of focaccia with some olive oil and balsamic from the pantry… yum, although now I was getting a little full, lol…
finally, I had the braised beef ribs, smashed potatoes, and roasted carrots and mushrooms… it was also yummy and filling…
I didn’t have room for dessert until the morning…
it had caramelized bananas in it, and cream… clearly breakfast food, lol…
I’ve collected all my egg shells since I read about using them to add nutrients to plant water…
they have to be crushed, but I was worried that if I used my food processor they might dull the blade, so decided to put them in a bag and use a wooden spoon to crush them…
the bag sits on the counter and every time I go by it I use the wooden spoon and smack it a few times…
up early and worked on a newsletter with a program I am still learning so it took a lot of brainpower, lol…
my handy person stopped by to check out the front door… he is coming back tomorrow with some weatherstripping which should fix the draft… and he is going to pick up some birdseed for me… yay…
a bit later Lyndsay, from Modern Plate Catering, dropped off supper for tonight – and tomorrow – which will be warmed in the oven… very happy about the fact that they deliver as I am without a vehicle or my personal shopper…
I also figured how to keep the lumbar pillow I am using in the den from falling down every time I get up… I came across it when I did some deep closet cleaning…
got close up and cozy with the fridge freezer this morning… my technique is to use my bathroom stool to sit in front of the fridge while the freezer door is open…
was chilly work, but put like things together and in containers… was a bit surprised with how many little freezer packs I have ;-)…
pleased with the outcome and hopeful that I will remember what went into each of the containers, lol…
