today I made a new and fancier version of scalloped potatoes… was a bit of fun…

made up packages for a friend and my grandson…. felt good to prepare food for others, lol…

also moved the rain barrel, swept off the back deck, put out the solar lights, and set up a few chairs…

my Easter dinner for tomorrow is basically ready… ham is cooked and I will just need to make some asparagus or Brussels sprouts… not sure which it will be…

currently, soup is simmering on the stove…

the adjustable brackets have arrived, the adjustable brackets have arrived;-)…

we’ve had our garden reclining lawn chairs for longer than I can remember…

they are just right in the space and have the ability to recline… a great place for an afternoon nap in the shade…

over the last few years I’ve replaced the cushions, but the brackets have been wearing out and breaking… I had no idea what to call them so wasn’t able to find replacement parts…

I even looked for new chairs, but there don’t seem to be any that recline nowadays…

I mentioned it to my son-in-law and he found the parts online… I ordered them from a business in the States, hoping they would work and they arrived yesterday…

today, I went out to the garage to see if they would be just a simple screw into the tube or whether we will have to drill some holes…

they fit;-)… one hole is in the wrong place, but I think only using the other two holes will be perfect…

I am so happy… now to clean off the deck and wait for some nice weather…

more time working on/in the garden…

changed tables in the living room window to make space to be able to put more of the deck planters in the sunlight… once they warm up, I am going to fill them with alyssum and morning glories…

kind of exciting… I also moved the big planter onto the front step and will put it back into the flower bed in a few days when the weather is warmer…

filled the other planters with datura and morning glories and planted a few additional tomatoes… I’ve moved the tomatoes onto the dining room window ledge…

it will be interesting to see what sprouts…

did a bit more planting…

already have grape tomatoes and milkweed going…

added white alyssum and dahlias… I am not expecting anything from the dahlias… I brought them in and bagged them in the fall, but they don’t feel full, so we will see if anything pops up… if not I already have new ones ordered which should come sometime in May…

also put datura and morning glories in to soak before they get planted…

found this sunflower smiling at me in one of the planters where I will be putting morning glories, lol…

well, it took most of the day, but I got the obelisk put together;-)…

started first thing in the morning… put a couple of layers together and then made a mistake and couldn’t remove a pipe that was stuck… left it and kept thinking about it… was really missing my beloved… he had the strongest hands and that was what I needed…

eventually I remembered the clamp that is attached to the workbench in the garage…

after using cloth, the clamp and pliers, I was able to separate two of the pieces… finally was able to add a piece upside down and connect the remaining pieces together…

looks great;-)… hoping for a few warmer days so I can set it into the pot on the deck… the morning glories are going to look great on it…

way to go me…

my grandson arrived yesterday morning after picking up a number of things for me…

he brought me a bunch of solar globes, a new squirrel-proof feeder, a kneeler for the garden, stamps, seeds, a new plate and a few groceries…

I am thrilled about the solar globes as I’ve been searching for them since last summer;-)…

he also moved a big planter and my hammock chair so that I can clean up the back deck…

the obelisk I ordered will go into the large planter on the deck… as soon as I put it together, lol…

planted the first of the seeds… spent time one day getting the containers set up… most of them have lids so they will be like little greenhouses…

used a couple of egg cartons for the grape tomatoes…

last year I popped some tiny wrinkled tomatoes into a bit of soil and they did very well, so I have decided to try again this year;-)…

I have learned to be ruthless and will remove some from each container once they start growing…

on Saturday, I spent the majority of the day outside…

did a bit of garden planning… had to bring out one of my beloved’s measuring tapes to do some checking of sizes of planters…

he had many, many measuring tapes… I have given a number of them away, but there are still a few around the house and in the garage…

put out a lounger, swept part of the back deck, topped up the hot tub and sat in the sun and read…

lovely way to spend time…

had a lovely afternoon on the deck yesterday…

removed one of the feeding saucers and cleaned the table… that took a long time but it looked shiny when I was done… looks ready for a meal with the boys;-)…

then I sat in the sunshine and read… so lovely…

at the end of the afternoon I brought in the planters which I am going to use to start some seedlings…

looking forward to getting the planting started…

I’ve been thinking of how much harder this pandemic would be for me without my oldest grandson…

very early on I lent him my car with the agreement that he would do any errands that I needed…

since then, he has fetched and carried numerous items for me… he finds groceries that I can’t get from Save-On-Foods… he collects items I need to keep the fish happy… plants and bird seed have been delivered… and mail sent… he has also brought his brother over to mow and shovel…

on the few occasions that I needed to drive somewhere, he has brought the car for me and then picked it up when I was done…

today he came by with a few hard-to-find items including flowers, and then moved some planters for me…

he collected the summer tires, we visited for a while, planned a time when he will bring the shoveler over, and off he went…

I am blessed;-)…
