picked up candy canes and more oranges…
makes a lovely display on the table in the living room and ensures I have treats available whenever someone stops by…
I also picked up unshelled nuts (much harder to find these days) which have been a long time family tradition;-)…

this morning I went out around ten and shovelled the sidewalk… it was overcast, chilly, and a bit windy…
it only takes about fifteen minutes to get the job done and then I took out my camera to get a few photos of the snow on the trees…
just before my friends arrived for our weekly gathering, the sun came out… yay…
and I got a very similar picture…
amazing what a difference a bit of sunshine makes…

went to take out the last sleeve of crackers and thought it had already been opened because it was so low in the box…
it wasn’t, and I was shocked when I measured the sleeve alongside the box…
it was way shorter…
maybe the price hasn’t changed much, but there are way less crackers in it…

I’ve been enjoying the trees up the stairs…
wound through them is a string of lights which I would turn on in the morning and off at bedtime…
now I’ve decided to leave them on all the time…
my beloved didn’t like having trees or snow people on the stairs as his walking was uneven and he sometimes stepped on one of the decorations, lol…
so far, I don’t have that problem;-)…

Monday morning the sun was shining, woohoo…
I was so excited about it that I did some of my steps in the kitchen, as the sun shone onto me…
I was so happy about the beautiful light that I didn’t even take a photo, lol…
it looked a lot better in the sunshine…
over the last few months there have been so many overcast days, not our usual sunshine…
climate change is certainly creating havoc with our weather…

the trees made their way up the stairs…
a string of lights went up first and then each tree was removed from the box…
once they were all out, I had a fun time deciding where each one would go and then adding the smaller ones to every step…
I am always happy to add the various wooden ones that my beloved made;-)…
there are a couple left that will find their way into other rooms to bring holiday cheer;-)…

only took seven minutes to shovel the front sidewalk and a path to the driveway…
didn’t need to shovel to the neighbours as Canada Post isn’t coming right now…
a nice start to the season, the snow was light and fluffy and there wasn’t too much of it ;-)…

last night I stayed up late to watch the F1 Las Vegas race…
I was thinking how lucky I am to have the freedom to do that… there was nothing special on today… and basically, every day is Saturday for me;-)…
it was a great race and I enjoyed it…
even slept in a bit this morning, lol…

November 18 was my dad’s birthday and I’ve been thinking of him a lot lately…
he was kind, generous with what he had, and always thinking of others…
he looked after my brother and I for many years while my mom was in hospital and he took care of her when she was home…
he was soft-spoken and I don’t think I ever heard him shout or speak in a loud voice to anyone, but if he gave you the look (which didn’t happen too often), you knew to pay attention…
he was also the one who taught me that everyone deserved fairness, a second chance, and appreciation for a job well done…
he was very special;-)…
