the doorbell rang again today… second day in a row… I was expecting this one;-)…

it was a delivery of bread, croissants and hot cross buns from La Belle Baguette… the hot cross buns were still warm;-)…

I am going to be in trouble with my doctor if I keep eating bread at this rate because it raises my blood sugar… but I had to have a couple of the buns with cheese for my breakfast… very tasty…

then, for supper I made French toast using the bread knife and board that my beloved and I purchased at Victoria Beach many years ago…

the knife is made for left-handed people and fits into the tray portion of the cutting board… it is very cool…

delicious things to eat and fun memories…

been a quiet day, although I did get dressed, lol…

this afternoon, as I sat reading in the living room, the doorbell rang… sounded odd as the doorbell has not rung for quite some time…

on my steps was a brown bag with Happy Easter on it and a dear friend standing on the sidewalk… she had made hot cross buns … which she does every year, and usually brings to our Monday night gathering closest to Easter…

she was dropping off these treats to each of our doors so that we could enjoy them;-)…

I couldn’t wait and warmed it up, buttered it and enjoyed every bite…

what a wonderful Good Friday surprise and treat…

been noticing that how we use our time has changed in this covid-19 period of our lives…

apparently I couldn’t have started my retirement at a better time…

in conversations with friends we’ve talked about how it doesn’t really matter what bedtime we have, because for many of us, we don’t have to get up at a certain time…

last night was an example for me… I went to bed at 8 in an effort to get rid of a nagging headache… I woke up around 1, still had the headache, and couldn’t get back to sleep so eventually I got up, had a hot tub and spent a few hours reading in the living room…

there was a full moon so I spent a lovely few minutes with my camera and tripod taking photos…

finally around 5:30 I went to bed and slept until 9:30;-)…

just saw this post on Instagram from @canadianchocoholic… an example of changing times…

as emails come in from banks and other organizations; tv ads mention options to delay payments; the government continues to come up with ways to assist businesses and individuals in these crazy times, I truly am blessed that my home is safe, my income is secure and I don’t need to leave for any reason…

time is fluid…

the weather has been very odd over the last week…

on Friday it snowed all day and into Saturday… everything was covered… then it started to melt and by today it is nearly all gone…

above shows the front yard Saturday on the top and today on the bottom…

the backyard has changed a lot as well… yesterday there was still a fair bit of snow on the deck and by the pond… today it is almost completely gone…

crazy, but I hope to be able to sit out there soon…

in an effort to save a few dollars I turned the thermostat down a few days ago as it had gotten warmer outside…

since then it has cooled off again and it has been chilly in the house…

good thing I have a Smart Home… although it could be smarter;-)…

all I had to do was open up the Nest app on my phone and raise the temperature… didn’t even have to get up from under my blanket…

let’s hope it gets warmer and stays that way…

rather proud of myself… I have barely done anything for ages, but today I was able to accomplish three things…

first, I went into the backyard and shovelled a path to the hot tub… my shoveler hasn’t been by… likely he is staying at home like everyone else;-)…

being very careful of my back, I worked slowly and made sure there wasn’t too much snow in each shovelful… now I can go out to soak my back if I want;-)…

came in, had a break, and then tidied the hallway bookshelf… I’d organized it back in 2014… made me laugh when I realized it was that long ago…

finally, I redid the living room table drawer… put sea shells in two of them and left the others as they were… one has all the retirement cards and the other has a number of pictures and maps from our trip to Hawaii…

looks good…

pleased with all that got done… maybe I will keep on getting things done;-)…

my daughter sent me a calendar wth daily yoga for April, so this morning I decided to do some… I got an old yoga mat out, arranged my phone so I could see it from the mat and started the video…

unfortunately I twisted my back in the process so I’ve had to be very careful with everything I’ve done for the rest of the day…

since the girls were little I occasionally end up with a hurt lower back… sadly, it usually takes ages to return to normal… there’s never an obvious action to cause the problem… it just means being careful about standing for too long and twisting the wrong way when sitting…

my solution today has been to quietly sit in the living room and read… so happy I found the books on Kobo…

for a good portion of the day it snowed and late in the afternoon the sun came out and it looked beautiful with everything covered in snow… especially as I didn’t have to leave the house…

as I was sitting and reading I looked out to see the most beautiful sky…

seeing this stunning view was a very special moment, which I enjoyed…

I’ve finished all the new books I had and was trying to decide if I should start rereading an old one…

I thought I could read something on my Kobo, but couldn’t remember where I put the charger, lol…

but then I decided to download the app onto the tablet which I got with my last iPhone and haven’t been using…

the bonus was that I had purchased a number of books which I hadn’t yet read… and by some of my favourite authors…

I’ve spent a good portion of the day cuddled up under a blanket in the living room reading, as the snow fell…

Monday is now plant watering day… used to be Saturday, but this new schedule is working well…

was talking with someone about their friend who, whenever they visited, would walk around and deadhead all the plants in the house…

as I was wandering around the living and dining room this morning I was reminded of my mom and mother-in-law and how they both did that in my house… they were both gardeners and certainly had green thumbs, actually – hands, lol… the plants always seemed happier after they had been over…

I think of my friends who are also amazing with plants… right now I am working on growing an avocado following one of their directions;-)… hope it works…

I also spent a bit of time enjoying the newest blooms…

flowers sure do make me happy…
