today I made a pilgrimage to the statue that represents the women who served in World War I and II… it is located close to many other war memorials down by the legislature…

it was very cold out and my fingers were frozen by the time I was finished taking photos…

it was heartwarming to see that someone had drawn a heart in the snow right beside the monument…

my mom was part of the organization that made sure this reminder of women’s place in the wars was visible…

my final action before leaving was to remove my poppy and leave it at the foot of the monument…

a moving and emotional moment…

really can’t believe how fast time is going by…

seems like it was just yesterday that I turned the page to November on my Chihuly calendar…

rather like this picture…

looking forward to getting a 2019 Chihuly calendar and wondering what spectacular photos will be included…

whenever I look at the calendar I remember the amazing places I have been to see Chihuly installations…

the mind blowing Chihuly Garden and Glass in Seattle…

the gorgeous installations at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens…

the chandeliers at the Hilton Lac-Leamy in Gatineau…

wonder where I might see some next;-)…

recently I was looking at photos on a website and came across this picture…

it reminded me of paper dolls when I was small…

it was fun dressing them… doesn’t it look like the little tabs used to hold the clothes on the doll…

of course that was a while ago, lol…

started my day at La Belle Baguette to pick up some bread for lunch… found a few lemon tarts and a couple of chocolate bars to go along with it…

went nicely with the zucchini basil soup at lunch…

snow… not exactly how I wanted to arrive home at the end of the day although they’ve been threatening it for a few days, lol… you will notice that I gave in and actually had socks on;-)…

ended the day with a large bowl of Thai shrimp soup… lovely as all I had to do was warm it up…

recently have had conversations with a few people about being down, feeling sad, being depressed… seems like many in my circles are struggling this month…

November doesn’t seem to be a particularly good month for me… not sure if it is the time change, gray days, cold weather or what… seems like many have similar feelings…

my dad’s birthday was in November… he was a great guy and I miss him…

I like to remember that where there are downs, there will be ups…

today I bought some orchids to brighten my space which always perks me up…

then I made a lovely pot of Thai shrimp soup which was delicious and a wonderful treat…

yesterday my oldest grandson came over and we cleaned up all the pots and planters in the garden…

well, he did most of the cleaning up while I worked on a few things in the house…

we did work together to get the bird feeder hooked up so that it won’t lean over…

we ran out for groceries and then had ribs, baked potatoes and Brussels sprouts for dinner…

when he was picked up I went to bed, lol… fun, but long, day…

it’s the little things…

was sitting in the hot tub this morning thinking of my beloved… realizing that some of the things I miss most are the little ones…

like having him wring out facecloths and towels and swimsuits… he had the strongest hands… now, I’ve developed more strength in my hands and wring things out myself…

like dealing with spiders… I have always been afraid of them… and always felt that they search me out… he would save me when I would come across one… my shriek would be a fairly clear sign for him, lol… I can now find the nearest item to use to smack down a spider when I come across one… just the other day I was surprised by a big one and I didn’t even freeze… just grabbed something and wacked it…

like being there to commiserate with… this morning I banged my foot on the door… it really hurt… no one to say poor you;-(… haven’t found a solution for that yet…

like driving the car into the garage… it was always stressful for me because of the slight jog in the driveway… now I just drive right on in, even when I know I have to go out again soon…

and of course holding hands… I really miss that…

went shopping this afternoon…

the stores were all very full… apparently I should have left home sooner, lol…

first one I went into, I walked right out of because there were people lined up all the way down the aisle waiting for a cashier… as it happened I didn’t really need anything from there today…

then I walked around a home repair store where it seemed like everyone needed to stop in the middle of the aisle to chat with the person they were shopping with… and nearly everyone had a buddy…

finally, at the grocery store, I continued to end up behind people who needed to look at every item on the shelves to decide which one they wanted… and of course they stopped in the middle of the aisle… must have seen at least six staff people gathering groceries to be picked up… maybe I will give that a try one of these days…

can’t believe that five bags of groceries cost two hundred dollars, sigh… times, they certainly have changed…

found this photo on Facebook… happy that I get these reminders of wonderful memories…

it is from ten years ago and is one of the few pictures that I have of my beloved and I holding hands… it is lovely to see him and such a great reminder of a fun day…

one of the things I miss is having his hand to hold when out and about…

the beautiful trees after the snow this morning were another reminder…

brought back memories of the day before he died when we drove all around the Park so that I could get pictures of the trees covered in hoarfrost…
