last year I removed the drawers and took a file cabinet outside to become a raised garden planter… it has worked very well…

the drawers, which were filled with my beloved’s stuff, have been stacked on a table in the basement since then…

finally I set up a box for giveaway, one for things to keep, a recycling bin, and a garbage bag…

worked away for a few hours and was able to move items into the various options without a problem…

the drawers went to the back lane, and someone collected them for scrap;-)…

makes me happy to have been able to declutter…

prepped some items from the garden…

gathered morning glory seeds and brought in a ton of parsley… it didn’t get eaten up this year, lol… talked with Google about ways to prepare it for the winter…

two suggestions sounded like something to try… I pulled off most of the stalks and put half of the parsley onto parchment paper and then baked it in the oven for about twenty minutes… when it cooled I crushed it by hand and put it into a bottle… looks good…

next I took the rest of the stalk-free parsley and bagged it… six bags went into another and went into the freezer…

it will be interesting to see which type I like the best;-)…

well, Wednesday was that day in the garden, sigh…

Hilda the Gardener came by and most of the planters in the front yard and garden were cleaned out…

as an experiment, a few plants which had been in the planters were put into the ground to see if we could reuse them in the spring… and we tried that with the strawberry basket as well…

everything looks tidy and ready for the next seasons…

I am going to miss time spent in the garden although I am so happy with how many days I was ensconced in the space…

there will be many wonderful memories to enjoy during those freezing cold days in the middle of winter…

but for now, here’s hoping for more beautiful days in this magical space;-)…

the mandevilla came in a few days ago since the weather is cooling off…

my grandson carried it from the back, through the kitchen and into the living room…

currently it is residing in the front window… amazing how much smaller it makes the room, lol…

the flowers were just starting to open and I am hoping that all the buds open without falling off…

I got swallowed up in the events around the Queen’s death and eventual funeral…

reminded me of the way I fall into the Olympics, lol… I always want to watch everything as it happens…

the good news is that these days I am able to be up in the middle of the night and sleep during the day if needed…

now to catch up on a bit of missed sleep…

Monday some jobs got done…

I met the kids at the “A” for breakfast and then we worked in the garden…

Virginia creeper was pulled from behind the hot tub and some tiny holes were filled in the foundation close to the door…

the hammock was dismantled and pieces put into the shed…

then we started catching fish to bring into the condo… we got nine so far, including all the biggest ones, and will do more every now and again…

they caught them and I put them into the tanks…

happy to get some of the fall chores done…

finally scraped the chipped areas on the back door…

then I pulled out the paint, stirred it for quite a while and painted the bare portions… it was very interesting to see how blue it looked before being stirred up… that probably explains why so many of my purple things turn blue after sitting in the sunlight, lol…

it has been drying and is looking good… I think I will give it one more coat…

found an interesting grape tomato recipe on Instagram…

gave it a try… it used grape tomatoes, olive oil, garlic and basil…

it smelled delicious while it was baking…

then it went into ziplock bags and into the freezer for use in sauces although I think it might be nice as a bruschetta…

had a delicious supper on Tuesday…

visited the Wolseley Farmers Market and got some lovely items…

flowers; a beautiful pork chop; green, yellow, and purple beans; garlic; small new potatoes; little eggplants; free range eggs; an acorn squash; and a cob of corn…

cooked up, cooled and reheated the potatoes… then warmed up some chicken wings from the night before and boiled some of the beans…

yum…

looking forward to more delicious meals from this bounty…

recently had a conversation with my neighbour… she talked about her set of tools… her husband has a garage full of tools…

it made me think of the tools in my kitchen drawer… my beloved also had a garage and basement filled with tools but it was never clear where the particular item was when it was needed, lol…

because of that, I started to gather my own set… a pink multi set screwdriver, a hammer, and a pair of pliers… a pink screwdriver was very obvious and I always knew where it was, and even when he used any of my tools, he knew to put them back…

full disclosure, I may have tidied that portion of the drawer for the photo, lol…

I know other women who have their own set of tools as well… here are a few of theirs…

now, I have a garage with other tools that I am learning to use… and they go back after each use…
