for weeks now the side door to the garage has been stuck shut… kind of like the doorknob was frozen…

while we were working in the basement, there was lots of garbage which we ended up putting into the garage until the bin was empty… having to go through the side gate and then the main garage door was a pain…

yesterday I talked with my neighbour in the lane and mentioned the problem so today he came by and helped me remove the knob… fairly simple when you know how, lol…

now I will know for next time;-)…

so, a bungee cord will be the fastener for the next while… and, apparently a new door is in the future…

happy that I finally got a nice photo of the cute new little white orchids…

have had the plant for a few weeks now, but just couldn’t get a nice shot of a single bloom…

looks cute on the living room table along with the other new orchid and two little grape hyacinths which have just started to scent the air;-)…

and the new display in the table looks nice as well… some of my rock collection from Goose Spit with a few crystals thrown in;-)…

was on my way downstairs to go out to the hot tub on Friday and heard a loud noise… looked out the window to see one of the two hardcovers laying on the ground… not attached to either side of the tub…

it had slipped out of my grandson’s hands and, in the very cold weather, broke both arms that hold it on…

luckily, after we soaked for a while the two of us were able to set it back where it belonged… no single person hot tubs until it gets repaired, lol, as it will take two of us to open and close the cover…

happily Krevco had some arms available…

we will wait for a warm day to empty the tub, move it to install the arm closest to the house, put it back, connect the second arm, and refill the tub…

thanks to a suggestion from a friend, we picked up some porcelain filler for the stove and basement pedestal sink…

after sanding, painting, re-sanding, and drying a number of times, the stove looks great… can’t spot the fix unless you get real close and know where to look…

sadly, I forgot to get a before picture…

the sink is taking a bit more time…

but coming along nicely…

when the MTS people were here the other day, they replaced the remote for the bedroom tv…

the good news is that now I won’t need to press my finger through the remote to make some of the actions happen, lol…

at the last minute they mentioned that the new remote didn’t turn the tv on or off, or change the volume…

really 🤪…

the good news is that Google Home can turn it on and off and change the volume level…

another few projects got taken care of…

the wooden bird picture that my middle grandson gave me about a year ago has finally made it onto the wall… we had to pick up wire to use as it is heavy and the usual fishing line wasn’t going to hold it up…

looks great and I am so proud of him as he did a good job of making it…

then we put a new sweep on the bottom of the back door so that cold air isn’t flowing down into the basement… bit of a process, but it was finally complete… better than it was, for sure…

a strip of carpet got cut and repositioned so that feet won’t be on concrete on the way to the bathroom, lol…

the final piece of work was cutting and installing a tile over the light in the bathroom…

a lot of work got done;-)… I am blessed…

so happy that my friend, Hilda the gardener, came by last Friday for a drink, visit, and a haircut…

we spent a lovely hour chatting and laughing about life in general and gardens in particular…

then she dealt with the overgrown mess that was my hair, lol…

looks and feels so much better now;-)…

my goodness, seemed like a very long day…

MTS came around noon and spent two hours outside (in the very cold weather)… going back and forth many times between a ladder up to wires in the back lane, through the snow, and up the side of the house… eventually, they made a connection which should double the speed of my internet….

then they spent over an hour in the house changing the router and the boxes for the TVs…

none of it seemed to go smoothly, lol…

after they left, we spent another hour updating all of the Google Home devices and we still have a few that are not cooperating…
