tolerate…

I had a bit of a giggle the other day when I was taking a pill…

years ago, pill-taking was a serious and stressful business… swallowing them was difficult and whenever I needed medication, I would try to have it in liquid form, or the smallest possible tablet…

a dietitian shared the information that if you turn your head to the left things go down more easily and that was very helpful knowledge for me…

currently, one of the pills I take is ginormous as far as I am concerned… it is still difficult to get down, but I am able to do it…

interesting what you can learn to tolerate over time…

sprouting…

as I watch the plants start sprouting for spring, I also watch more snow falling outside…

and the morning glories I planted awhile ago have started to bloom daily…

the slow warmup and lots of wind have been good as the snow banks have been melting away and there is not tons of standing water in the yard…

seeding…

this morning I was happy to discover two blooms on one of the morning glories…

that encouraged me to do some seeding for the garden…

I had decided not to do any, but felt a need to start morning glories so they can begin blooming earlier…

I cut toilet paper rolls in half, then cut slits at one end, folded them and put a piece of tape across the bottom…

then I put all of those into a spinach clamshell, filled them with soil, and dropped a few seeds into each one… I also planted three of them with grape tomatoes…

watered each one and closed the clamshell…

now for the waiting game… and we won’t mention the snow that was falling as I wrote this, sigh…

tubing…

recently my grandson and I had a conversation about some fun times… two of the things he remembered are below…

one was a tubing trip down the river in Courtenay, BC, where I was knocked off the tube by a tree branch and lost my new hat… everyone but me was quite happy as they hadn’t liked it, lol… he was around seven at the time… I ended up with a bruised leg and a gash on my head… it certainly was something I won’t forget, and apparently neither will he…

the other memory was around a beta fish in a vase that I kept on my desk at one of my workplaces… he has always been interested in fish and is a great collaborator with the goldfish…

so interesting to hear the things he remembers;-)…

charcoal…

a year ago my daughter sent some gifts for a friend to drop off to me on January 1st…

amongst the items was a bar of charcoal hair shampoo… I have really enjoyed it and it is now a sliver, lol…

apparently the company may have closed, and the shampoo doesn’t appear to be available…

I went online and found something that might work, ordered it and it arrived last week…

not sure if it is going to work… it has a fairly strong smell so I have set it out on the window ledge in the bathroom and will see if the smell dissipates…

then I will try it on my hair and see how it goes…

not long ago I wrote about all the bunny tracks in the fresh snow and wondering if it was one busy bunny or many…

a few nights ago, as I was starting to get out of the hot tub – I was feeling a bit lonely without my recent companion – I watched four little bunnies shoot through the gate beside the hot tub, hop down the path and across to the far corner of the garden…

and then they raced around the garden, onto the deck and up and down the snowbanks before hopping past me a few more times…

they were having a blast and so was I;-)…

once I came in, I spotted another one out the front window on the front sidewalk…

what a treat;-)…

I took these pictures today…

pail…

I’ve been careful to hold this pail on the bottom as well as with the handle because I’ve wondered how long it will hold… I use it to add water to the fish tanks when they are a bit low…

today I got the answer…

this morning, I was on my third trip and just as I went to pour it into the big tank, it snapped and water went everywhere…

what a mess… drapes, wine bottles, tiles, front of drawers, the floor… everything was soaked… and one of the tiles broke… I am going to have to see if there is one left in the garage that size…

so, everything that could be moved was, the water was sopped up and the space was left to dry… tomorrow I will put everything back…

guess I will be looking for a new pail, lol…

soaring…

on one of our daytime hot tubs, while my company was here, we spotted an eagle soaring above us… today a program on tv talked about an eagle birdcam on Gabriela Island, which reminded me…

it is very rare to spot one around here… the last time I remember seeing one was when I was in the hall at the university of Winnipeg as we were preparing for a work event…

unfortunately we didn’t have our phones, but here is the spot in the sky where we saw it…

tonight I took a photo of a big bird flying past, lol…

these ones come by quite often, and are much noisier…

today I walked to the Post Office and back on my own… for a brief moment I considered stopping and getting my hair cut at the Ultracuts close by, but I had trimmed it recently so seemed like a good idea to wait for a bit…

the sun was shining and the snow was starting to melt… for a portion of the trip I walked in the street as the sidewalks had ice and water on them…

I picked a time when I thought there wouldn’t be too many people out and about… it felt good to be outdoors and walking…

as I returned up the street toward the house I stood for a few moments and admired the tree on the edge of the creek

it is very large and will likely start to bud out soon;-)…

vanished…

looked out the window after yesterday’s snow and spotted many tracks…

not sure if it is just one bunny or many, many bunnies, lol…

throughout the day carrot chunks vanished from the deck… got some photos of the visitors… no idea how many, but it sure was fun to spot them whenever I was in the kitchen…

by end of day, all of the carrot bits were gone…
