what a delightful day…

I opened the patio door without any blockage from snow… yay… and left it open for most of the day… still going to be a while before I can sit out there…

the sun was shining, the birds were singing and the snow was melting…

added chemicals to the hot tub, which I haven’t done for ages as it has been so cold, the tub had been covered in snow, and there was no space for the covers to opens…

every time I went out to add the chemicals, I kicked some of the snow on the path so it could melt…

it is looking good…

I was surprised this morning when I looked out the window and spotted the hoarfrost on the trees…

it is such a gift of nature and looks so delicate (apparently like feathers)… I spent some time researching the difference between rime ice and hoarfrost, once I came across the term, lol… still not a hundred percent sure I understand…

hoarfrost always reminds me of my last drive with my beloved… he drove me around the Park and a few neighbourhoods so that I could take pictures of the beautiful designs that morning…

it was just a few days before his death…

but now, the sight of hoarfrost on the trees reminds me of wonderful times together;-)… I truly am blessed…

yesterday I put up a photo on Instagram that showed my Japanese Maple just starting to leaf out… this picture below came up in my Google Photos today showing the same tree two years ago… made me laugh because it is so different, lol…

the good news is that it is starting…

and obviously, I should have put it up today, on St. Patrick’s Day, when we are all Irish;-)…

at the bottom of the tree, shamrocks have been growing since the first summer it went outside and the shamrock plant jumped into the pot…

it was fun taking the pictures;-)…

I love the perfume that hyacinths produce, but it is very strong…

recently, I had company and knew that strong scents were difficult for them…

so I bagged both of the hyacinth plants to help dissipate the smell, lol…

they looked a bit funny but are now back in in the open and delighting me with the scent;-)…

had a fun few minutes this morning as I watched this red squirrel…

some of the snow has melted away and the squirrels have uncovered the sunflower seeds…

every now and then this one would stick its head under the snow and bring up a snack…

I checked whenever I was in the kitchen, but missed any more sightings, lol…

a few fun surprises today…

when I looked out the window first thing this morning the sky seemed fluffy as it was filled with cute little clouds…

a bit later, as I was walking around the living and dining rooms, I spotted this tiny morning glory;-)…

and the purple hyacinths have started to scent the air… I get the lovely perfume as I walk into the kitchen or living room…

all very lovely as it was overcast and not very energizing…

and it snowed again, sigh…

I’ve been taking an online iPhone photography course…

it has been excellent so far and I have enjoyed practising a few of the things I’ve learned… and I even got some pretty good pictures of the fish today…

happily, I’ve also realized that I already know many of the tricks of the trade…

what a delightful afternoon…

a friend was coming over so I went out and did a quick shovel of the snow… there wasn’t really much out there, although the wind was a bit chilly… it was nice to be outdoors for a few minutes…

when she arrived we had tea in the living room and a great visit… multiple topics were covered as we discussed life and the odd times we are living in…

it was so lovely to have an in-person conversation…

she brought me a lemon loaf and also picked up some tulips and hyacinth at my request…

after she left, I had a fun time filling vases with tulips and distributing them in every room in the house…

there might still be huge amounts of snow outside, but in here it is Spring;-)…

this morning I watched a couple of bunnies on the deck looking for something to eat, so I tossed out a few carrots that I broke up for them…

I checked back a bit later and discovered one enjoying the treat…

reminded me of the bunny in the den… it is one of those Build-A-Bear animals that the boys and I had made when my beloved had his heart surgery…

the staff in the cardiology unit had recommended a pillow for him to hold against his chest when he coughed and we thought the bunny would be great… it worked well and he liked it;-)…

it wears scrubs, although a few pieces of the clothing have gone missing, lol…

it is a sweet reminder of a difficult, but special, time…
