the cleaners were here today and while they were inside the house, I was in the garden on the back deck spending time with googly finding the answers to the Happy Mail for Chocolate Lovers crossword that I received in an email mid-August;-)…

it was fun learning new facts about the various places where cacao grows…

spent a delightful afternoon on the water…

we jumped in the boat and went to a few different fishing spots… no luck at the first one but we did much better at the second…

saw turtles and cormorants… the cormorants got a bit tired of us following them along the canal, but I got some great photos…

I also caught two fish and brought another one up to the side of the boat where it decided to jump off, lol… and the rule is, if you don’t get it into the boat it doesn’t count…

one of the Jack’s I caught was around 30 inches (second biggest of the day) and put up a fight before getting into the net… the other was smaller, but really any fish is great;-)…

good thing I have all these excellent fishers around me to provide backup and helpful instructions…

had a burst of energy and spent a couple of hours in the garage cleaning…

was able to give away a few outdoor games to a neighbour… filled up the garbage and recycling bins… and cleaned off about half of the bench and one shelf…

thinking about painting the bench purple;-)…

every little step feels like progress;-)…

after considering all the options I applied online to safely vote by mail…

thanks to an email from the David Suzuki Foundation I was able to get to the correct spot without difficulty and submit the application fairly easily…

we shall see if I get the ballot in time and how this new way of voting (for me) goes…

wish me luck, as once you’ve applied to vote by mail you cannot vote in any other manner;-)…

I received my voting package the next day… wow 🤩…

now to find out who is running in my area…

all of the day’s meals had some portion of leftovers from the day before…

breakfast was some of the leftover boiled new potatoes scrambled up with fresh eggs…

lunch was a salad made with some of the leftover chicken… it also included onion, fresh dill, celery, a bit of miracle whip… and a few slices of the baguette from the night before…

supper was a lamb shank with a leftover veggie medley of the new potatoes, carrots and asparagus… added a bit of red wine to the lamb gravy…

all of them delicious

recently there has been lots of squirrely things going on…

spotted this red squirrel out the front window around 9:30 am… it was looking for food to eat from under the feeders…

not fifteen minutes later this gray squirrel nearly came into the house when I opened the patio door, lol…

big excitement when I discovered 2, yes 2, beans growing, lol…

I had planted a number of seeds but thought that none of them had survived… I’m not sure whether the crazy hot weather affected them…

happily, my neighbour brought me another feed which I had with my supper…

not exactly sure what I will do with two as they still aren’t quite ready, lol…

had a lovely dinner tonight with the kids…

they brought me a bunch of mums for the garden… I had been collecting parcels for them over the last few weeks, so we traded, lol…

we ate in the garage as it was a bit cool out and rain threatened… I am still nervous about having people in the house for any length of time…

even put one of the plants on the table to provide some ambiance;-)… looks good with the tablecloth, but we won’t mention all the “stuff” that is everywhere…

we spent time remembering how grandpa knew where every single thing was located and planning the organizing and decluttering that has to happen…
