was recently talking with someone about being brave

made me think back to our trip to Mexico when we went down to the ocean floor wearing these 60 pound helmets… we were there to see the stingrays

we told the team that I was claustrophobic, just in case I couldn’t stay down in the water… I hung onto the rail for dear life, lol… I thought that the divers came by a few times, but apparently they came by every minute or so to be sure I was okay…

but I did it… and have the photo to prove it…

while we were on Maui I tried stand up paddle boarding… and I did it, well, for about five minutes, lol… of course my daughter did hold the board while I got on…

this afternoon I went to the Zoo with friends… we spent some time checking out the new stingray exhibit… this was what had instigated the conversation around bravery… what fun…

the volunteers shared all kinds of information about the display… there are two varieties and twenty-five in total… looking forward to visiting them again;-)… no fear at all for this visit;-)…

took me back to those moments of being so scared, but doing it anyway…

I’ve been thinking of people who I know who are in the midst of difficult times…

sometimes it weighs heavy

I’ve also been thinking of my beloved… as always the grief comes for no apparent reason… looking forward to getting to the other side…

this is the view from our bench at the Park… was happy to spend a few minutes there last week…

took these photos Sunday, on my walk in the Park…

clearly some geese were setting up their nest on the roof of the skating shelter by the Duck Pond…

sort of funny when you think that the roof on the Qualico Family Center, just a few steps away, is made of grass, lol…

this morning there were a pair of geese at the end of the street as we were heading to work… caught this cool shot of them in the rear view mirror… hope they decide to nest here…

as I walked up the street on my way home, chatted with a woman who was looking into the creek… she’s a teacher and was trying to find the beaver’s lodge so she could bring her class to see it… that’s pretty cool…

on Sunday I took this shot of one of the trees that the beaver has been working on…

as I walked up the street tonight I saw a few couples

the mallard couple have been coming to this creek for many years… these might be the children or even grandchildren now…

a few steps further along I came across the bunny couple… they weren’t sitting quite as close together, lol…

nice walk…

this morning the sun was shining as I got dressed to go for my first Spring walk to the Park…

temperature was a bit cool, right around 1° Celsius, but it looked pretty nice out…

so, I wore short pants and sandals… by the time I was heading out the door the sky looked a bit dark (like snow) so I did add my hat…

a bit of wind as I was walking, but not too bad… I had on my Spring/Fall jacket and my little gloves were in my pocket…

before too long I had on the gloves and took most of my pictures wearing them… luckily the camera doesn’t insist on bare skin the way the iPhone does, lol…

snowflakes did fall every now and then… May 5th, sigh…

I was happy to get home but didn’t realize until I was laying under a blanket with a hot cup of tea in my hands how cold I had been… I did sit in the bathroom for a while to warm my toes on the floor;-)…

my entire body shivered for ages, lol…

hope my next walk is a bit warmer…

a beautiful day out…

it was fairly windy so I wasn’t going to go and do anything outside, but had a conversation with my Ottawa daughter who had been busy in her yard…

so, I had a nap and then went out for a bit…

brought up the birdseed from the basement and filled the feeders as well as the two pails that live in the garage…

then I did a little cleaning on the back deck and moved the furniture around to get the garden ready…

and finally, I spent some time reading in the sunlight…

I’ve been asked by a number of people to share my favourite thing about Maui

so I’ve been thinking about it… and I can’t come up with just one thing…

over the last week I’ve printed a group of my favourite photos… and have been looking them over and remembering the particular moments each one represents…

there were so many special times… the ocean, the beaches, the rainbows, the trees, the turtles, the vegetation, the orchids, the flowers, snorkelling, the waterfalls, the food, the helicopter flight, the cacao trees, and on and on…

it really was two weeks of bliss;-)…

last night I made some of my new black currant tea…

got out my special cup, filled up my Bino with extra hot water, put milk in my cute little purple whale jug and found a few pieces of chocolate to go with everything and put it all on my new tray…

had two lovely cups…

and then…

as I was pouring the third cup… knocked over the milk which spilled everywhere on the tray and onto me, lol…

but those first two cups were excellent;-)…
