watery things today… so happy…

likely, by now, you all know about my obsession with bendy buses, lol…

on our way to Byward Market we saw many… so I had to get a picture…

then we picked up beavertails and drove to the Rideau Falls… I had some chocolate on my arm so had to clean it up which proved very humorous for my daughter…

shared the beavertails and walked to, around and over the two sets of Falls…

was very excited to spot a Great Blue Heron at the bottom of the second set… they are such majestic birds and remind me of a trip to the East Coast we took many years ago and saw them everywhere…

also took a few shots of this sculpture… for years my daughter collected worlds, lol, so it was fun to see this one with her…

I spent an hour or so sitting alone on a sandy beach at Petrie Island while she paddleboarded… the water was like glass and tunes were playing in the background for the beach volleyball game going on behind me as the sun went down on this beautiful day…

ended the evening at the Soul Stone Sushi Bar & Grill… the food was excellent… if you go there order the Fusion roll… OMG…

started our day early in Kingston with a trip to the Base beach to do some stand up paddle boarding… it was a gorgeous morning, warm but breezy…

my daughter got out onto the water but realized it was too windy so we packed the stuff up… it is a lovely beach with many sailboats at the marina…

on our way home we stopped and checked out a couple of trails…

the leaves and acorns were beautiful…

then it was time for lunch, farewells and the drive back to Ottawa… on the way we took a few detours to find some possible paddle boarding sites…

we came across a boat going through the locks at one spot and had fun watching the process…

continue to work on my selfie skills, and as one woman put it while we were trying to get just the right one – it is harder than it looks, lol…

rained for about the last half hour of our drive, then stopped for just long enough to unload the car…

another fun filled day… now I am tired and ready for bed

started our day with tea and a snack… I had almonds and leftover strawberries from yesterday’s Farmers Market… very tasty…

then it was off to the Memorial Farmers Market... fun to get to both of the markets here… we found carrots, peppers, salad greens, baby bok choy, Brie bread, apple cinnamon rolls, eggplant, crackers, dip, kombucha, and eeny pears (which look like green crabapples)… and a maple bacon butter tart…

it was rainy this morning so we had on rain gear and brought umbrellas…

then the free ferry to Wolfe Island which was great fun, even in the rain… also had a little chocolate snack on the way over…

we were excited to go to The Wolfe Island Grill for brunch… sadly we don’t recommend it… I was imagining a brunch with choices… no… food was mediocre at best, little choice, only type of eggs were poached, small amounts of everything and not really hot… disappointing

lucky for us, we went across the street to the Wolfe Island Bakery… got some truffles and the most delicious pain de chocolat… made up for the less than stellar brunch;-)…

we sat in the car, in the rain, for over an hour, in the lineup for the return ferry…

home, watched a movie and then back to the docks for a 3 hour dinner cruise… it was lovely and I think I got enough boat time today, lol…

home now and ready for bed… although we didn’t get much walking in, the day has been full…

began our day at the Kingston Public Market where we picked up veggies, flowers, and treats to take home…

it is a cute little Market with many food vendors and artisans… found some maple syrup and pottery to bring home…

stopped into a bakery, an Italian grocery store and a butcher shop to finish off the items needed for our dinner…

then it was off to Sydenham Lake to christen the new SUP

my daughter had a lovely paddle on it and enjoyed every minute…

after her first round she came in and gave me instructions and assistance to give it a try…

my goodness it is difficult… at one point I asked what was making the board wobble so much and she announced it was me, lol… took a short paddle after she helped me onto the board, then did kneeling paddle boarding… rested for a few minutes and did one more round of the standing up version… lots of fun but exhausting;-)…

I would do it again, as long as someone was there to get me up on it…

fabulous steak dinner with beets, fingerling potatoes and green beans…

now for a movie and then to bed…

another busy day…

slept in, and my daughter made tasty omelettes for our breakfast after I harvested zucchini and cucumbers from her garden… then we ate chocolate cake…

we went and picked up her new stand up paddle board… ended up being quite the process which involved going back to the Auto Racks store to be sure it was fastened correctly to the roof rack…

then we headed off to find two chocolate stores… Jojo Coco and hummingbird chocolate maker where we may have purchased a few bars, lol…

then it was off to Kingston

you can’t spend any time with my daughter and not have some chocolate so on our drive here we had raspberry chocolate from one of the chocolate shops we visited today…

a short rest and we went downtown to Chez Piggy where we had a delicious dinner…

a walk around the harbour to get in a few steps and take a picture with the Kingston sign, a bit of Pokémon hunting and home to bed…

well, today I’ve travelled in cars, planes, boats and on foot… all of it very good…

on my flight I watched a movie through WestJet Connect… first time I’ve used Connect and also the first time I’ve watched a movie on my phone… sadly the flight ended before the movie… apparently you can purchase internet access… might have to try that another time…

was picked up at the airport and we went to visit all the Ottawa signs and in the process wandered through Byward Market… just love how beautifully the produce is set out…

first actual stop was for a Beavertail… we shared a garlic and cheese one… yum…

then stopped and took pictures at every Ottawa sign downtown, lol…

walked over the bridge to see MosaiCanada which was very cool…

I will post more pictures of that later…

took a water taxi back to the Locks and walked along Sparks Street till we came across Bier Markt where we enjoyed a delicious dinner of mussels, duck wings and a Brussels sprout and kale salad…

back home for tea and a sliver of Baked Expectations Deadly Chocolate Mousse which I brought from Winnipeg…

now to bed…

all kinds of activity today…

a big fire kitty corner from our office… a colleague took the picture with the flames and a few seconds later I took the one with the smoke as they extinguished it…

my grandson picked me up at the office and we went and picked up a few slices of cake to take to my daughter…

treated to fish and chips for dinner and then home to finish the packing…

final treat of the night was a quick trip to Dairy Queen…

now off to bed… going to be a full day tomorrow;-)…

had to skip walking on the treadmill this morning so I could water the plants in the garden

it has been amazingly hot over the last few days… I don’t like to water in the evening, so was happy to take the time early to get the job done…

the morning glories are exploding everywhere… the ones that are trying to come up through the table make me laugh

for years we have had Virginia creeper growing along the north side of the garage and it never had berries… it has grown over the pergola into the south side and since that has happened it started to produce the berries

this morning I got a few nice shots of some of them…

too bad we can’t eat them, lol…

just spent the evening with the most wonderful women in my life…

we had a short stint in the hot tub and then sat out on the deck and caught up on our summer…

a beautiful evening which ended under the stars…

lovely to have time together…

below are a few shots of the morning glories that began my day…

they have the most wonderful light emanating from their centre… always make me think of my beloved

read a post on a friend’s Facebook page about smelling like a campfire

made me giggle and think back to our recent camping trip… once I got home I had to wash everything because all of the clothes smelled like the campfire, lol…

when I smell a fire in the neighbourhood or someone’s barbecue, it takes me back to all the delicious meals we ate…

I think my favourite was the morning that my son-in-law produced sunny side up eggs for my breakfast… on the campfire… amazing

of course, steak and lobster and kebabs were other highlights, lol…

what fun we had and great memories we made;-)… maybe we will be able to fit in one more weekend…

as it happens, the neighbour is barbecuing as I write this, although it smells like it might just be hot dogs…
