continued with the preparations for my trip…

ran out this morning to pick up a bit more chocolate to take with me…

on my way out I, of course, had to take photos of the morning glories that were blooming…

everything was rather thirsty but I didn’t have time then to water…

picked up treats at a few stores, including lunch for when I got home…

it was delicious

my grandsons stopped by because I was hoping to move some furniture and needed a bit of help… sadly, after we moved a few things, we discovered that the biggest piece wasn’t going to make it through the hallway… oh well, so much for that…

since then I’ve spent time napping, watching some sports on tv… and fixing my Fitbit app so that my steps transfer to MyFitnessPal… hurray…

started my day with flowers in the garden

very few purple morning glories today… for whatever reason the flowers are much more pastel these days…

I ended the day with this shot of my bouquet in the bedroom…

the sun was coming through the window and highlighting some of the daisies and the hydrangeas from the garden…

so happy when I get to spend a few moments seeing the beauty around me…

hope your day had a special moment or two…

beginning preparations for my visit to Ottawa soon…

gathering items to take with me and on the list is chocolate… my daughter is becoming an expert on the subject…

she has a few favourites from various chocolate shops around town…

today I picked up a few things from Morden’s

arrived two minutes before they closed as traffic was bad because of all the construction… they were so gracious and provided excellent customer service, even at those last few minutes before closing…

picked up a few bars and the darkest chocolate they had… also got some of their cashews

George loved cashews and they made me think of him as I was snacking on a handful tonight…

on a roll with chocolate today… last night on our way home we stopped at a new bakery in the neighbourhood and I picked up this chocolate ganache tart…

took it to the office, cut it into eight tiny pieces and shared it with my colleagues… this works very well for me because I get a taste of something but then don’t have tons of it… and it’s fun to share

still have a bit of time to get to her other favourites so I have the necessary items when I arrive there, lol…

looking forward to the shopping and the trip

frustrated with my Fitbit and MyFitnessPal

since yesterday the step count has not transferred between MyFitnessPal and Fitbit so I have way less available calories to eat…

I can eat more, but then I don’t meet my goal for the day…

must have spent hours over the last few days trying to sort it out… looks like this might be a problem with one of the apps

argh…

not sure what to try next…

seems nearly everyone was talking about the solar eclipse

since early morning the weather was not looking good… they were projecting rain and cloudy skies for most of the day…

we were sure we wouldn’t get to see anything but decided to go and stand outside just to be part of the excitement…

a colleague arrived back from lunch with the proper eyewear and just for fun we looked up…

and the clouds parted in a tiny circle and we saw the eclipse… it was great fun as we passed the glasses from one to another and even to a few passers by…

less than five minutes and the clouds rolled back in…

now that was a moment;-)…

the daddy and I took the two younger boys to Stonewall Quarry Days

they had the most fun in the Petting Zoo where they petted, picked up, and fed many animals…

the huge turtle, maybe it was a tortoise, was a big hit… and then the bunnies

the hens were fun but they ran away a lot, lol…

feeding the goats was very entertaining… we bought two ice cream cones filled with pellets and they really took their time sharing them out amongst all the animals…

wonderful how they are getting more gentle with animals and understanding that they shouldn’t just dump all the food in one place all at once…

they are growing up and it is such a gift to be able to spend time with them on a regular basis…

rather sad today…

this was the scene from yesterday… the back side of the house is done but not the front, although apparently it is water tight…

was looking forward to it being all finished this afternoon… they told me they would be here around nine this morning…

this is what the roof looks like now, sigh…

they never came and their stuff is all over the yard so I can’t even sit out and enjoy the garden

I’m fairly sure they aren’t going to come tomorrow and Monday’s forecast is for rain

feeling rather grumpy and wishing my beloved was here to sort this all out…

yay, it’s Friday… seemed like a long week… too funny because I only worked three days, lol…

blessed today with help from my grandson who ran some errands for me and did a few jobs around the house… and he took the car in to be washed… she looked stunning when I got into the parking lot after work…

went out for dim sum for lunch and enjoyed every bite and the great company…

came home to a nearly completed new roof… sadly there aren’t purple shingles available…

supper, made up of last night’s leftovers, was basically ready…

now enjoying some tv…

pretty fine day…

went to the Farmers Market today and picked up a few things…

got tiny cucumbers and potatoes, a cauliflower, peas, two kinds of buns, a chocolate bar and 3 purple glads…

as I walked home with my treasures lots of people commented on the gladioli

for dinner I had roasted country style spareribs along with new potatoes and dill, beets from last week, and cucumbers in vinegar and water… delicious…

wonderful to have access to fresh food so close to the office…

life is good
