I’ve been waiting patiently for this phalaenopsis orchid to open…

here it was on Friday…

Saturday…

and today…

it is beautiful and different from the other one that has been open for awhile…

in my mind I was thinking they might turn out to be the same, lol… but not;-)…

whenever I look at my orchids I always think of my beloved, who brought them to me all the time…

first thing I did on Thursday was put the heart wreath on the front door…

a little later, I brought down the rest of the love items and set them around the house…

that was fun;-)…

February is Heart and Stroke month and a time when I make a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in memory of my beloved and those who have been touched by heart disease…

lots to think about…

kernels…

recently I saw something on social media about popcorn…

it recommended soaking the kernels in water for a while before draining and popping them and there would be less unpopped kernels…

so I gave it a try and it worked great… it did take longer to get popped but there were less leftover kernels and the popped corn seemed larger…

a couple of days ago I used this method again… while the last bit of it was popping I ran downstairs to bring up the laundry…

when I got upstairs, it smelled odd and as I opened the microwave the Kleenex that covers the spout on the glass measuring cup was smouldering… tossed it into the sink…

I’ve used folded Kleenex for at least six or seven years…

so, don’t think I will use that system again, lol… took some time for the smell to leave both the microwave and the house…

as I was walking on the spot looking out the living room window this afternoon, I watched a coyote across the way… it was headed towards Portage Avenue along the creek…

I didn’t have time to get the camera out, but took a photo with my iPhone, which is cropped a bit here…

when I was up in the middle of the night, not too long ago, I watched one walk up the street…

fun to see wildlife but a bit of a worry that they are having to come out in the daytime and amongst the city streets…

went out and shovelled up some of the slushy snow/ice… it was getting very slippery beside the hot tub, so I am happy this got done…

it will be much safer when I am uncovering and covering the hot tub…

it didn’t take too long as it was warm out, so after that was done, I filled all the bird feeders…

then I uncovered the seeds in the “house” on the deck at 11:44 am and by 2:30 pm it was completely covered over again…

for a little while I kept going out and removing the grass that the squirrel was adding, but I gave up…

the decision was made to empty the plunge tub and refill it with fresh water…

after a visit to Krevco to get some chemicals for the hot tub, we got information on what to use for the plunge tub…

we picked up liquid chlorine and will do some experimenting as to how much to add, and how often, lol…

we used the pump that usually empties the hot tub and then dumped the last bit… wiped it out and then spent a while refilling it…

cover and bungee cord went back on and it is ready for plunging…

at Krevco we saw a plunge pool… it was $10,000, 😳…

not too long ago I saw a cool use of a shower caddy

it had been tucked in a corner of a room and had puck lights under the shelves to provide light for each of the plants…

I’d been looking online but hadn’t yet ordered one… here’s the spot where it will go…

today I got a shelf from Home Depot and we made a few adjustments as we put it together;-)…

ended up leaving the top portion of the pipe off and using some cord holders and zip ties to attach the pipe to the wall…

I decided not to use any additional lights as the spot this is set in gets a lot of light…

I am pleased with how it came out… and may have to get a few more plants, lol…

at last the sun came out late yesterday afternoon…

instead of a nap, I decided to read in the beams of light… and when I went out for my hot tub, the full moon was visible, woohoo…

this morning the sun was out again and I was so excited that I took a few photos in the bedroom as I admired the sunshine on the bed…

that sunlight makes the flowers even more beautiful;-)…

I have spent as much time as possible in the light, even spent some time on the deck…

last night as I was in the hot tub, I was thinking of some of the amazing people I have worked for and with…

the one whom one of my daughters is named after…

the one who became a substitute father…

the one who taught me about strength…

the one who reminded me of all my abilities and encouraged me to stretch…

the ones who taught me patience, lol…

the ones who have become part of my life;-)…

as I contemplate them I realize again what a blessed life I have led…
