Easter…

woke up to a phone call from my grandkids wishing me a Happy Easter at 7:30 in the morning, lol… they were very excited to share all about the treats they discovered around their house…

then I went downstairs and on the way spotted the bunny outside…

  

must have just been getting home from all those deliveries…
 
last night I decorated the living room… even put some tulips into the bathroom…
  

flowers make me happy… finished the dining room and set the table for dinner… 

had picked up pencil crayons, colouring books and a few reading books for the boys which I put into the glass drawers in the living room table, along with more of the cute chocolate bunnies from the fundraiser…

  
amazingly, while I was sleeping, the Easter Bunny put mini eggs all over the table and elsewhere on the main floor…

missing my beloved… he had a great connection with the Easter Bunny and the two of them always made sure to find good hiding places for treats…

had a very quiet day as my throat has been sore for a while and I’m trying to rest up and get rid of it… lots of people have been struggling with miserable colds/flu…

kids came, searched and found all of the eggs… we had a lovely lamb roast for our dinner… didn’t realize that daddy wasn’t fond of lamb… oops… maybe that’s why we haven’t had it before… next year we’ll have ham, lol…

  
bit of trouble getting a good photo and some were wondering when they could actually eat… 

after dinner my son-in-law went off to work and the rest of the family headed home…

I am climbing into bed…

woke up to snow on the ground this morning… really, lol… it was lovely because I didn’t have to go outside into it… 

  
there was also a beautiful moon…

  
spent the entire day in my jammies taking it easy… 

did walk for half an hour on the treadmill and made zucchini basil soup… I might be a bit addicted to that one…

the whole house is permeated with the smell from the hyacinth… so I took a few pictures of all the flowers in the house today…

  
the light was wonderful in the dining room…

  
the sunlight on them was lovely… 

and finally I got a picture of the sun streaming into the living room…

  
so happy to have the flowers filling the house…

they make me happy… 

remembering my beloved who would make sure I had lots around, particularly at this time of the year…

been learning new things in the last few days and am pretty pleased with myself, lol…

I figured out how to change the clock in the car… 

 

pretty simple actually… I would never have been able to do that before…

even better was the fact that I sorted out the remote in the basement… 

  
there are three down there but the middle one is the special one which does everything except pour tea… 

of course the problem has always been that if it wasn’t set on the tv I could never get it back there… it is also connected to the Wii and a video player and Netflix and I’m not sure what else… 

the little boys change it over to the Wii sometimes and forget to put it back… then I struggle for ages trying to get the morning show to come on that I watch as I walk on the treadmill… end up calling my kids to walk me through the process to get it working again…

this time my son-in-law thought there might be something wrong with the remote itself…

after a bit of work I figured out how to open the back, find appropriate batteries, change them and get the cover back on…

then it couldn’t find the tv… finally figured out that I needed to use one of the other remotes to set the input to the proper thing…

and it worked… did it all myself…

my beloved would have been so proud…

had a wonderful day…

began with making my favourite zucchini basil soup for tonight’s dinner…

  

took the time to take pictures of each step in the process…

  
turned out great… as I worked on each step I thought of the people coming for dinner and how lovely it will be to see them and spend time together…

the hardest part of making this is finding the basil and zucchini at the same time… much simpler in the summer, lol…

had the screen door open as I was working on the soup… was so beautiful, decided to eat my lunch on the deck and read for a bit… the sun was so warm…

  
set the table and went for a walk…

  
planned the dinner with St. Patrick’s day in mind, thus the green soup, lol… enjoyed preparing it as I don’t do much entertaining these days…

made a huge garden salad and shredded a bbq rotisserie chicken to go along with the soup and some fresh bread… the salad reminded me of my beloved’s wonderful salads… have not been able to recreate them…

also set up our conversation spot to focus on lean-to/support to go along with a program one of the group had sent everyone…

  
took the last few minutes before their arrival to sit and relax…

dinner was enjoyed by everyone, and we had some thoughtful conversation…

got a great shot of a squirrel yesterday morning having a snack in the garden…

  
this morning I was up even earlier and watched a bunny crossing the street but didn’t get a picture… the exciting thing was that it was light out when I headed downtown at seven…

did take a few pics of the orchid which still looks pretty good… trying not to touch it which might cause one of the blossoms to drop off…

  
have spent a fair amount of time over the last few days remembering the day of my beloved’s memorial service… it was four years ago today…

all of us getting ready together was rather stressful… 

making it through the gathering was painful and I was barely able to move as my body reacted to the distress of the day and my health issues…

having the opportunity to speak with everyone who came to celebrate his life was awe inspiring and very comforting…

arriving home to discover that someone had hit a borrowed vehicle and driven away without even leaving a note…

can’t actually remember the evening…

such a painFULL time… 

am pleased with how well we have come through these days/months/years… each of us is moving forward and supporting one another…

we  talk about George/Daddy/Grandpa often… I don’t want anyone to forget him and his impact on us and everyone who he touched…

we are and have been blessed…

woke up to hoarfrost everywhere…

  

it was beautiful…

  

the last thing that George and I did the day before he died was drive around the Park and take pictures of the beautiful trees covered in hoarfrost… 

seeing the hoarfrost was such a reminder of him… felt like he was sending me a message…

  
spent the afternoon with my daughter wandering through the mall… had lunch and picked up a couple of pairs of shorts…

when I got home PBS had a special of Simon & Garfunkel‘s concert in Central Park, New York City in 1981…

  
he loved Simon & Garfunkel… I spent an hour watching the program, enjoying the music and remembering… the songs had all been played here… comforting…

in recent days I have been walking down memory lane looking at many pictures… it has been fun to remember all the great times we had in the forty-three years we were together… 

what an amazing life I have had…

took a few pictures of the orchid this morning…

  
the blossoms are now falling each day…

  
still beautiful in their own way…

wore my new jeans today and everyone loved them…

all day I kept trying to figure out what was making my hands blue… must have washed them a dozen times to get the colour off…

finally mentioned it, only to learn that I should have washed the jeans with salt or vinegar before wearing them the first time… it was the dye that was rubbing off on my hands, lol… clear that I am not a jean connoisseur… good thing I learned this before sitting on my couch, lol…

been thinking of my beloved more than usual… tomorrow marks four years since his death… seems to me that the week or so before the anniversary is more difficult than the actual day…

looking through photos I decided on this one for my Facebook profile picture…

  
we had spent a lovely time at the zoo with our youngest grandson and just came out of the butterfly garden… he was tired and had a seat on the lovely bench while trying to convince the little guy to join him… doesn’t he look like an angel…

I miss him…

been thinking a lot about folks who have been dealing with health issues, either sick or injured…

so many people I know have struggled with miserable colds and flu… both of my girls were ill and got sent home on Monday… many friends are just beginning to get over various issues…

the beginning of March is a difficult time for me… can’t help but think back to the loss of my beloved… I’ve been inundated with Facebook memories of things we did in the days just before his death…

have also been working on a project where I’ve been looking through my photographs… am always surprised at how much I have forgotten and the pictures are great reminders of special moments…

  
came across this picture of a Chihuly glass fixture at 295 York… George and I had dinner there a few times when it was still the Lobby on York…

lost my parents when they were both just over 65… George’s dad died around that age and he didn’t make it to 65… for a while I have been wondering if I will make it to 65… looks like I will, lol…

I am feeling healthy and in better shape than I’ve been for years…

although there is sadness, life is good…

had a bit of fun shopping…

went to Henry’s and picked up the eyefi mobiPRO… staff there helped link it up to the app I had already downloaded onto my iPhone… I do love technology…

  
it is very cool…

from there we went to Urban Trail where I checked out a number of Canada Goose jackets… and then I found a gorgeous purple North Face jacket…

  
it is gorgeous… fits great and works to -10 C… it weighs about the same as a cute little vest I have that fits into a tiny bag…can hardly wait to wear it;-)…

wandered around a few other shops and headed home…

since then I’ve been playing with my Nikon and iPhone…

took these pictures in the living room…

   
 
and transferred them to my iPhone in a flash… so great to have the ability to get pictures from my camera to the phone so easily…

also enjoyed the sunshine…

  
yesterday, my Facebook showed a few memories with my beloved speaking in a video… he made a number of angels using this particular one as a sample… 

I sure do miss him and loved hearing his voice…

I have celebrated all the special days of the year forever and I love doing that… miss my beloved who also enjoyed holidays, particularly Valentine’s Day… he always made sure that both of the girls and I got roses… I often wear the jacket that he gave me on our last Valentine’s day… 

had roses delivered to the office for my colleagues…

  
put them out so everyone could choose one… did it yesterday as four of them were not in today…

  
I enjoy surprising people with treats and they are an amazing group of individuals so it makes me very happy to show them how special each of them is…

  
it is always such fun to see which one each person chooses… makes me happy…

today after lunch when I got back to the office from yoga there was a card and gift on my desk…

  
the card was filled with lovely expressions of thanks from all my colleagues, and a gift certificate to Thermea…

  
what a wonderful surprise… brought me to tears… as I said, a special group of individuals…

a very special Valentine memory…
