this morning I started my day with the last bag of Twinning Blackcurrant Tea…

texts, phone calls, and Facebook messages came throughout the day…

and the biggest surprise was my BS buddies singing happy birthday on the road with a sign on a six foot pole so that the two holders wouldn’t get too close… what a treat…

seeing friends, even at a distance, brought such warmth to my heart… thanks to my buddy for sharing her photo;-)…

took Barbie (the BBQ) out and grilled steak and lobster for my dinner… ate with my Ottawa kids via Google Duo… they had McDonalds, lol…

very different from last year, but certainly this birthday will be remembered…

yesterday I was in the hot tub early in the evening, which is not my usual pattern…

I watched geese flying south in the blue sky…

I also watched a number of birds in the elm tree next door… in the sunlight they looked like they were bright red in colour… many flew from there past the garage…

I stared at one of them for the longest time trying to decide if it was a sunlit robin or something else… because there were so many of them I didn’t think they were robins as usually I see them alone… eventually it flew away…

thinking how my beloved would have been able to provide a certain answer as he had eagle eyes;-)…

as soon as I got into the house I checked my bird book and my bird app (of course I have one) and am pretty sure it was a robin…

but it was exciting for a few moments as I imagined all kinds of very red birds, lol..

had a fun time in the living room today…

replaced all the cushions with more summery ones from the stockpile… added in a few hints of turquoise and moved some plants… I am trying to get a clear view from my spot on the couch of the bird feeders in the front yard…

yesterday I refilled the feeders and there has been lots of activity since then… so far I’ve spotted juncos, nuthatches and even a purple finch… and of course the squirrels, lol…

I’ve put up the tripod and have the camera ready to go, so I’m all set…

hopefully the purple finch will return and I will be able to get a photo;-)…

happy that I figured out how to cast Facebook Live onto my tv…

I’m sure others have been doing this for ages, lol… I’ve done it a few times with my photos but not often enough to remember how to do it easily;-)…

I think it is funny what things I can do without a problem and others which I’m not comfortable with just yet…

I’ve enjoyed watching the programs that Assiniboine Park and Zoo have been presenting… they are on Facebook Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 1 pm CDT… nice to see the animals close up and learn some interesting things about how the keepers work with them…

much nicer on the tv screen than on my phone;-)…

gonna keep practicing…

had some excellent meals yesterday…

started with an almond croissant and cheese for breakfast… lunch was a delicious chicken, stuffing and cranberry jelly sandwich on La Belle Baguette sourdough bread… ended the day with ham and scalloped potatoes that a dear friend dropped off…

and I made chicken broth from the chicken carcass…

there is still a great variety of leftovers and ready-to-eat items in the fridge;-)…

played with some technology so that I could have Easter dinner with the kids in Ottawa…

we tried two or three options and ended up using Google Duo… worked nicely, once we got it figured out after my son-in-law found it, lol…

they got a bit fancier with their table… I was focussed on getting the computer set up, lol…

I had roast chicken, stuffing, mashed potatoes, turnip, asparagus and cranberry jelly… they had homemade pasta, salad and chocolate bunnies:-)…

everything was delicious and it was a nice treat to eat with others…

been a quiet day, although I did get dressed, lol…

this afternoon, as I sat reading in the living room, the doorbell rang… sounded odd as the doorbell has not rung for quite some time…

on my steps was a brown bag with Happy Easter on it and a dear friend standing on the sidewalk… she had made hot cross buns … which she does every year, and usually brings to our Monday night gathering closest to Easter…

she was dropping off these treats to each of our doors so that we could enjoy them;-)…

I couldn’t wait and warmed it up, buttered it and enjoyed every bite…

what a wonderful Good Friday surprise and treat…

lots of fun as I played on my laptop recently…

I was able to finally download a program that will gather and save my photos… I’d tried a week ago to make this happen, but clearly the desktop did not want to cooperate…

another new piece of technology for me to learn how to use, lol…

today I got it installed on the desktop and it is currently collecting photos… will see how it works tomorrow…

been noticing that how we use our time has changed in this covid-19 period of our lives…

apparently I couldn’t have started my retirement at a better time…

in conversations with friends we’ve talked about how it doesn’t really matter what bedtime we have, because for many of us, we don’t have to get up at a certain time…

last night was an example for me… I went to bed at 8 in an effort to get rid of a nagging headache… I woke up around 1, still had the headache, and couldn’t get back to sleep so eventually I got up, had a hot tub and spent a few hours reading in the living room…

there was a full moon so I spent a lovely few minutes with my camera and tripod taking photos…

finally around 5:30 I went to bed and slept until 9:30;-)…

just saw this post on Instagram from @canadianchocoholic… an example of changing times…

as emails come in from banks and other organizations; tv ads mention options to delay payments; the government continues to come up with ways to assist businesses and individuals in these crazy times, I truly am blessed that my home is safe, my income is secure and I don’t need to leave for any reason…

time is fluid…
