I finally picked up a loaf of sourdough bread today…

when I arrived home I took out a few pieces of bacon from the freezer and microwaved them… I like crisp bacon;-)… when bacon arrives home, two pieces are folded, two of them put into a ziplock bag, and into the freezer so it is easy to get pieces out to use when needed…

it was difficult to cut the bread as it was so fresh, but eventually I managed to get two slices…

then I cut up the gorgeous large tomato that a friend had given me which was perfectly ripe…

finally, a good amount of miracle whip, bacon, tomato, and pink salt between two slices of bread…

oh my… yum…

had a wonderful day on Saturday…

we had ordered bread and some goodies from Village Green Bakery online and went to pick the order up…

while we were in the store next to the bakery I came across a butterfly net which will work perfectly for catching fish in the pond…

next we went to Saffie’s in Albert Beach and found an adorable long dress – purple – with pockets… woohoo…

across the street at Gibson’s Glass & Art, I found a beautiful purple mug and a delightful stained glass dragonfly…

lovely treats and reminders of our excellent week at the cottage…

Sunday morning we made sure to be up in good time to get to the Village Green Bakery at Victoria Beach…

they have the most delicious bread and yummy cookies…

you don’t want to be late or the good stuff might all be gone;-)…

we picked up a loaf of bread, a smile cookie, a coconut and oatmeal cookie, a double chocolate cookie, and two sausage rolls…

we sat in a lovely park and had a snack of some of the goodies and then checked out their beach…

home for a sandwich and then some reading and napping… couldn’t wait to take a picture of the whole loaf, lol…

had a good time at aquasize and then we took a drive to DeLuca’s…

I got spinach wraps, gnocchi, canned tomatoes and two different types of bread…

apparently I am still craving bread, lol… now I just need to learn how to cook the gnocchi…

once home I made two little peanut butter and banana sandwiches for my lunch…

they were very tasty…

got fresh sourdough bread recently, so decided on toast with peanut butter for breakfast… this is a treat as bread isn’t on the menu very often…

brought down my left-handed cutting board and it reminded me of fun times at Hillside Beach many, many, years ago…

I love how it cuts the bread to the exact size required for the toaster… and then the knife slides into the tray…

we picked this up at one of the Victoria Beach Country Markets and it has cut many loaves of Village Green Bakery bread, lol…

went to the Wolseley Farmers Market with a friend and had a great time…

came home with a bag filled with beans, peas, green onions, a zucchini, baby potatoes, garlic, bread, a mushroom galette, and a beet and pesto treat…

and two gorgeous stalks of purple gladiola;-)…

yesterday, I had two deliveries…

the first was from La Belle Baguette and included croissants, butter tarts and sourdough bread… I was hoping for scones, but they aren’t baking those just now…

I am so happy that they are doing deliveries on Fridays and Saturdays now that we have been shut down again… I shared the croissants and enjoyed my chocolate one… it was delicious, as always…

I had other things planned for dinner, but decided on a grilled cheese with onion and bacon… yum… the rest of that loaf will be cut up for stuffing and popped into the freezer…

the butter tarts were put into the freezer, either as a treat for me, or something to have should anyone drop anything off and I want to send something home with them…

a bit later in the day, my groceries from Save-On-Foods arrived… these days it takes four or five days for delivery and more items are out of stock… but, nearly everything gets here…

I am blessed to have these options available… and happy to do a bit of local purchasing where I can…

I picked up a baguette the other day and here’s how I used it…

made scrambled eggs that I put on top of it… then I had Brie and pistachio toast and finished with some French toast…

happy to have used all of it up as bread is not high on the list of things I should eat… the size of the baguette was perfect…

the doorbell rang again today… second day in a row… I was expecting this one;-)…

it was a delivery of bread, croissants and hot cross buns from La Belle Baguette… the hot cross buns were still warm;-)…

I am going to be in trouble with my doctor if I keep eating bread at this rate because it raises my blood sugar… but I had to have a couple of the buns with cheese for my breakfast… very tasty…

then, for supper I made French toast using the bread knife and board that my beloved and I purchased at Victoria Beach many years ago…

the knife is made for left-handed people and fits into the tray portion of the cutting board… it is very cool…

delicious things to eat and fun memories…

I love scones and have a friend who makes the best ones ever… of course, she can’t make any for me just now…

have had a recipe for tea biscuits up on the cupboard door for weeks…

last night I finally made it and had biscuits for my supper…

and a late night snack…

and my breakfast;-)…

and possibly another late night snack;-)…

unfortunately I should not be eating this much bread all at once, but tea biscuits need to be eaten while they are fresh… right, lol…

clearly they were delicious, although not as good as my friend’s scones;-)…
