went out and took a few photos of the freshly blown leaves that my grandson dealt with the other night…

the plan was to clear off the decks and make a path to the back gate… that way it will be easier to shovel, sigh…

been doing lots of reading suggesting that leaving the leaves in the garden is beneficial to little critters…

this was how it looked before… lots of leaves, particularly as I don’t have any deciduous trees, lol…

a few days ago my new iPhone arrived…

my grandson arranged the whole thing and brought over the new phone…

he transferred all the data, made sure everything was working and added a protective screen…

transferring from one phone to another is certainly much easier than the last time I upgraded my phone…

I’ve taken a few pictures and am very impressed with the results…

now I will have to learn what is new and different…

had a delicious dinner recently…

it was great to share a meal inside as we’ve eaten outdoors all summer…

the roast came out perfectly, which made me very happy as the last time I cooked one, it was overdone, lol…

the gravy and the carrots were yummy… and I did have salad afterwards;-)…

had an idea the other day when I was watching tv upstairs… I’ve been thinking it was time to change up the display in the living room table, so I got started…

found a number of framed photos from the computer room and my collection of fancy gemstones…

I gathered up some of my angels… I have given away most of them, but kept a few of my favourites, lol…

brought everything to the living room table and had a lovely time putting them into the squares…

remembering where they came from and why they were special to me…

such a lovely walk down memory lane;-)…

sooooo happy…

today, three jobs that have been on the list for ages, got done, thanks to Nathan the Handyperson, and my grandson;-)…

first, the front door sweep got reset and the edging tightened to close up any open spots… happy this took place before the really cold weather… it was first worked on about a year ago and the piece came off early in the spring…

next, the deck got levelled…

it has been sinking more and more over the summer and when they got the underside open, there was the tiniest piece of rotten wood holding it up😳…

we’ve lived here for just over forty-nine years and the deck was probably built at least thirty-five years ago… the top has been replaced once and is still in excellent condition… there was one piece of the frame that had to be replaced, but the rest was in great shape…

the steps to the side garden were removed for the work and then reattached and feel much sturdier now…

and the rail was redesigned, is much more stable, and matches the rail on the other side…

I am so thrilled it has been fixed…

finally, the rotten section on the bathtub pond ledge has been repaired…

back to normal… safe and level;-)…

got fresh sourdough bread recently, so decided on toast with peanut butter for breakfast… this is a treat as bread isn’t on the menu very often…

brought down my left-handed cutting board and it reminded me of fun times at Hillside Beach many, many, years ago…

I love how it cuts the bread to the exact size required for the toaster… and then the knife slides into the tray…

we picked this up at one of the Victoria Beach Country Markets and it has cut many loaves of Village Green Bakery bread, lol…

last year I removed the drawers and took a file cabinet outside to become a raised garden planter… it has worked very well…

the drawers, which were filled with my beloved’s stuff, have been stacked on a table in the basement since then…

finally I set up a box for giveaway, one for things to keep, a recycling bin, and a garbage bag…

worked away for a few hours and was able to move items into the various options without a problem…

the drawers went to the back lane, and someone collected them for scrap;-)…

makes me happy to have been able to declutter…

Monday some jobs got done…

I met the kids at the “A” for breakfast and then we worked in the garden…

Virginia creeper was pulled from behind the hot tub and some tiny holes were filled in the foundation close to the door…

the hammock was dismantled and pieces put into the shed…

then we started catching fish to bring into the condo… we got nine so far, including all the biggest ones, and will do more every now and again…

they caught them and I put them into the tanks…

happy to get some of the fall chores done…

recently had a conversation with my neighbour… she talked about her set of tools… her husband has a garage full of tools…

it made me think of the tools in my kitchen drawer… my beloved also had a garage and basement filled with tools but it was never clear where the particular item was when it was needed, lol…

because of that, I started to gather my own set… a pink multi set screwdriver, a hammer, and a pair of pliers… a pink screwdriver was very obvious and I always knew where it was, and even when he used any of my tools, he knew to put them back…

full disclosure, I may have tidied that portion of the drawer for the photo, lol…

I know other women who have their own set of tools as well… here are a few of theirs…

now, I have a garage with other tools that I am learning to use… and they go back after each use…

what a concept;-)…

while he was here, my son-in-law searched online for a spring for the patio door to replace the one which had broken ages ago…

he found one, ordered it, and it arrived on Friday, well after he left for home… there were no instructions, but I figured out how it should work…

it came with stickers to hold it to the wall and door, but they wouldn’t work for my situation…

I dug out two screws that were just the right size… from all the containers in the garage, lol… then I found a drill bit to start the holes so the wood wouldn’t split…

used the sticker as a template and made the holes… then was able to get the screws in and the hook as well…

it is working well, although it makes quite a slamming noise when it closes, so I will have to get used to that;-)…

going to be fun to see how the kids react😁…
