next I made coffee and had a few moments to read while I waited for my friends to arrive…
we decided not long ago to meet in the afternoon when it is warmer, as we continue to meet outdoors…
one had something else on, another connected by phone… the rest of us gathered in person…
it was a beautiful day and we sat close to the pond… both pumps were turned off to make it easier to hear one another, lol…
there were lots of visitors while we were meeting… a variety of sparrows, blue jays, squirrels, a cat and we even spotted a mouse racing through the grass… the fish swam around where we could see them as well…
strange to have such warm weather, but we certainly enjoyed it…
silly waterfall continues to leak so I am now turning it off at night…
it had been working perfectly until I fell in and messed it up…
the nights are much quieter…
between it and watering the grass every day my water bill is going to be a bit high, lol…
tonight as I was doing a final walk through, I heard running water and realized that water was pouring out of the neighbour’s hose… gave them a quick call and they were able to get it stopped…
I spent a lovely and quiet hour sitting right next to the pond this morning…
I had planned to turn the waterfall on as soon as I got into the garden, but decided to sit close to the pond and watch the fish…
yesterday, when I was in the pond cleaning it up, I spotted a baby swimming by… they move really quickly, so I only saw it for a moment…
my goal this morning was to check for any others that might be there…
and I spotted two… maybe the whitish one I saw yesterday and an actual gold one… they are much harder to spot in the pond as they look black… of course I didn’t get any pictures, lol…
great excitement and I will keep watch for more;-)…
sure miss the water hyacinth as its roots were a wonderful safe hiding place for babies as they started their journey as the goldfish eat them when they are very small…
no one has been inside my house for weeks and three people were in it today…
nice man from Dynacare to do bloodwork…
my grandson to bring up the toolbox from the basement… he also brought us breakfast, chose tools and discussed a landscaping job that needs to happen in the garden… thankfully we did all of that outside…
and my son-in-law to catch the fish and take them out to the pond… he also repaired the very broken bottom step on the deck so I won’t fall through it, and fixed a rocking bench in the shade garden…
even though it was chilly and overcast my grandson arrived this morning to clean up the pond… it was filled with a ton of decaying leaves…
our time didn’t start very well… the pump that worked perfectly in the fall when it came out of the water would not work… felt like we tried everything, but no luck… so, he had to run to the store to replace it, sigh…
eventually, after getting most of the water pumped out, he used the shopvac to suck up the majority of leaves from the bottom…
this technique worked well, but took quite some time, and was very smelly… then we rinsed it, and I filled it back up… he plans to come back, we will drain it again, and finish sucking up the gunk…
then we will fill it and get the waterfall flowing… I don’t think the fish will go in for another few weeks, when the chorine has dissipated and the water temperature has warmed up a bit;-)…
happy with our progress and looking forward to sitting and enjoying the beautiful sound…
