went for a walk on Sunday morning… the front steps were covered with slippery ice pellets, so we walked carefully…

the temperature was around 0°C and it felt like -8°C… not bad and the wind was behind us as we walked towards Portage…

we arrived at the “A” and had a lovely breakfast…

it has been many months since I’ve been there and it was a nice treat…

breakfast here used to be one of our regular activities on the weekends… I would walk over and my beloved would drive… after breakfast we would head out in the car to do errands or take a drive…

it was nice to eat here this week as we come to the anniversary of his passing…

I sure do miss him…

I am particularly sensitive to scents so the products I use are usually scentless – as much as possible…

lately I’ve been catching a hint of a scent as I walk through the main floor hallway…

it reminds me of pipe smoke, a scent that I have enjoyed as it makes me think of some very special people;-)…

but, I haven’t been able to figure out where it was coming from…

until today…

my housemate has a new bar soap and the scent is not in the bathroom, but in the hall…

it is very faint so was hard to track down… but I am always happy when I figure it out;-)…

I’ve been looking for ages for a narrow table to go behind the couch in the den…

at one point I even considered having one made by my handyperson…

then I found one that I liked the look of online and eventually decided to order it… it had a spot for a few plugs and usb ports as well…

the package arrived on Wednesday evening and my housemate took it downstairs and put it together while I was reading…

it came up on Thursday morning and went into the living room as I cleared off the table that was currently behind the couch…

after moving many pieces, the new table made it into its final spot…

electrical items were plugged in and then the plants made it onto it and the couch moved back into place…

it is the perfect height and length and looks excellent…

always happy when a project works out well…

a number of months ago my housemate and I took the time to go through the two fridge freezers and make a list of what was in them…

the concept worked fairly well, although sometimes we didn’t remember to change the lists as we took things out for meals…

we’ve been planning to update the lists for a few weeks and finally on Thursday we got to it… apparently, I’ve had a real desire for potato patties as we now have three large packages… oops…

I’ve printed out the lists and this time, besides the one on the fridge downstairs, I’ve got both on the upstairs fridge so I should be on top of what needs to be replaced and what is getting used…

I also spent time reorganizing the magnets and sticky notes, lol…

arrived home yesterday to a cupboard cleaning frenzy…

everything had been removed from two cupboards and partially put back…

not necessarily the way I would like…

as I look at the result, it occurs to me that we use a great number of different items that I used previously, lol…

reminded me of when my beloved was off of work and doing most of the cooking… he had some bizarre idea that things should be organized the way he liked 😳…

considering that my housemate has been here for just over a year, I suppose he should have a say in how things are organized, but still🤔…

and then we dealt with the pantry together…

yesterday we went to Superstore for some groceries…

while we were in the checkout line I spotted these cute little heart-shaped containers…

they had no price tag, but I decided I needed them, lol… they ended up being about $4.00…

today I filled some of them with a few treats for a gathering of friends…

they are so cute and useful with their little covers…

and fun…

the decision was made to empty the plunge tub and refill it with fresh water…

after a visit to Krevco to get some chemicals for the hot tub, we got information on what to use for the plunge tub…

we picked up liquid chlorine and will do some experimenting as to how much to add, and how often, lol…

we used the pump that usually empties the hot tub and then dumped the last bit… wiped it out and then spent a while refilling it…

cover and bungee cord went back on and it is ready for plunging…

at Krevco we saw a plunge pool… it was $10,000, 😳…

not too long ago I saw a cool use of a shower caddy…

it had been tucked in a corner of a room and had puck lights under the shelves to provide light for each of the plants…

I’d been looking online but hadn’t yet ordered one… here’s the spot where it will go…

today I got a shelf from Home Depot and we made a few adjustments as we put it together;-)…

ended up leaving the top portion of the pipe off and using some cord holders and zip ties to attach the pipe to the wall…

I decided not to use any additional lights as the spot this is set in gets a lot of light…

I am pleased with how it came out… and may have to get a few more plants, lol…

on Thursday the blue screen of death showed up on the laptop…

apparently on Monday, when the camera kept failing during our video call, it was a harbinger of the computer’s end of life…

I spent quite a bit of time on Friday morning searching for the sales slip from January 2nd, 2020, when I purchased it in Ottawa, without success… I did find the record in my credit card statements, but after contacting Best Buy, discovered there was no extended warranty…

did some research and went to Best Buy… had a plan to purchase the same computer, but an updated version…

in the end I found a slightly higher quality machine and was happy they actually had it in the store… after consulting with my two computer geeks, brought it home and we spent time in the afternoon getting it filled with all “the stuff” I need…

the old machine fit beautifully into the box the new one came in, and will take a trip to my son-in-law to see if he is able to save anything on it…

I had some fun in the evening doing some personalization and making it my own, lol…

it will be interesting to see what I forgot I needed, lol…

I love to read, so was very happy that one of my presents was a gift card to Chapters…

we went shopping and I found five books, and a series which will be a gift…

not exactly sure why we went on Tuesday (Boxing Day), but it was worthwhile… the books were all 30% off with another 10% because of my membership, and then the gift card…

was pleased with the great savings, and looking forward to some good reads…
