Sunday we opened gifts over the internet, lol…

we always like to cheers together and being 1330 miles apart doesn’t stop us although it took a bit of direction from the kids for me to get my mug in the right spot, lol…

there were lots of treats and great minds thinking alike as we all opened Chapters/Indigo cards…

technology has made such a difference in our lives…

Monday afternoons our longtime group meets…

we used to meet in the evening when we all worked, lol… since we are all retired now, we’ve moved to the afternoon… for some of the pandemic we met online and since the spring we’ve been meeting in the garden… then we moved into the garage for a while…

we moved into the house in the fall… for a number of weeks, I left the front and back doors slightly open and we wore our masks until everyone was sitting down…

now, the doors are closed and we no longer wear masks, but I still bring the coffee into the living room, where we gather;-)…

everyone drinks decaf, except me and my tea…

we often have pistachios and sometimes folks bring other treats… a great time of conversation and sharing…

what a gift these women have been for me…

I’ve been taking the time to enjoy the moments…

one of those moments was my delight at finally getting a stain out of this sweater;-)…

seems like a little thing, but I had tried for ages to get it out… particularly as I have been wearing more long sleeved warm tops…

reminded me of my mom, who loved doing laundry, and could just about remove any stain…

stood at the window and watched chickadees, a nuthatch, and sparrows at the feeders…

and my neighbour shovelling his sidewalk… he is very particular and does a great job every time… it is fun to watch and makes me giggle every time, because my beloved would have been very impressed;-)…

besides shovelling, he also swept the front steps…

Sunday we celebrated my beloved’s birthday…

the kids in Ottawa ordered A&W and I ordered it here… this was as close as we could manage to get burgers which were one of his favourites, lol…

ordering and having the meal delivered makes it easy to meet and eat at a specific time without going crazy in the kitchen trying to get separate meals ready…

we met online and enjoyed our burgers and chatted about him…

whenever we meet up we like to “cheers”… in person or over screens…

after we finished our call, I had one of their apple turnovers… he loved apple pie;-)…

it was a low key and enjoyable way to remember him…

I was watching tv and all of a sudden decided I needed to dig out the Christmas mugs… they haven’t been used for a few years as they were at the bottom of the overflowing closet in the computer room…

so I spent a couple of hours purging…

got down to the mugs, ran them through the dishwasher and changed them out for the current mugs…

in the process, I gathered up six or eight boxes of goodies for the giveaway pile, including two boxes of mugs…

way to go me, lol…

although there are still items all over the room that need to be dealt with…

that is a tomorrow project;-)…

the main tree went up… and I even put one into the dining room…

a dear friend came over and decorated the one in the living room…

she did a great job, as always… especially since I didn’t contact her until noon once I decided that was the day, lol…

I brought up many, many, boxes of ornaments which we went through and decided on what to use this year…

once she left, I worked on the dining room tree and put most of the leftovers back downstairs…

in the morning I put up the snowflakes and put away the last bits and pieces…

I was especially happy when I found my embroidered snowflake picture…

which may have been hiding for a few years;-)…

it always amazes me how one day my hair is perfectly fine and the next day way too long… and I can’t possibly wait another moment to fix it🤪…

finally got around to using the beautifully sharp scissors… well, they were sharpened in September…

they are amazing;-)… what a difference…

after a bit of trimming, I think my hair came out pretty nice…

I love smoked Goldeye and don’t have it too often…

yesterday, when I was out with a friend we stopped in at Gimli Fish Market and I was able to pick one up…

today, I made Goldeye cream cheese for the future and had Goldeye with cucumber and onion salad for my lunch…

delicious, what a treat;-)…

was out for the first full sidewalk shovel of the year on Thursday…

last week I did the very front portion of the sidewalk closest to the road, lol… but the shovel I used was not good… it was heavy and the snow clung to the metal…

we went to Canadian Tire and checked out all the options… finally I chose this plastic one…

it worked well and as there wasn’t much snow on the ground it didn’t take too long…

a bit later in the day, I shovelled to the back lane so that the garbage bin could go out;-)…

and then the snow started again, lol…

big quiet flakes;-)…
