had an idea the other day when I was watching tv upstairs… I’ve been thinking it was time to change up the display in the living room table, so I got started…
found a number of framed photos from the computer room and my collection of fancy gemstones…
I gathered up some of my angels… I have given away most of them, but kept a few of my favourites, lol…
brought everything to the living room table and had a lovely time putting them into the squares…
remembering where they came from and why they were special to me…
today, three jobs that have been on the list for ages, got done, thanks to Nathan the Handyperson, and my grandson;-)…
first, the front door sweep got reset and the edging tightened to close up any open spots… happy this took place before the really cold weather… it was first worked on about a year ago and the piece came off early in the spring…
next, the deck got levelled…
it has been sinking more and more over the summer and when they got the underside open, there was the tiniest piece of rotten wood holding it up😳…
we’ve lived here for just over forty-nine years and the deck was probably built at least thirty-five years ago… the top has been replaced once and is still in excellent condition… there was one piece of the frame that had to be replaced, but the rest was in great shape…
the steps to the side garden were removed for the work and then reattached and feel much sturdier now…
and the rail was redesigned, is much more stable, and matches the rail on the other side…
I am so thrilled it has been fixed…
finally, the rotten section on the bathtub pond ledge has been repaired…
my son-in-law completed a ton of big projects while he has been here from Ottawa…
a couple of the littlest ones have made me particularly happy…
I have had an extension cord and a single plug laying on the counter next to the stove and it was a pain… now there is a surge protector held up with 3M strips on the wall… so much tidier and more useful…
in the rolling cabinet that my beloved made, the tracks for the sliding doors kept falling down… now some 3M strips are holding them up where they belong…
had the most five or six delightful minutes in the garden this afternoon;-)…
I was eating the last delicious bits of yesterday’s Blizzard on the back deck and spotted a hummingbird in the garden…
for a long time we had feeders, but no hummingbirds, so we gave up… a few have flown through over the years, but none stayed around to snack…
it moved around slurping from the petunias which are everywhere in the space this year… from the six planters around the deck, to the morning glories in the dahlia planter in the centre of the yard, to the baskets hanging along the neighbour’s garage… and back again…
my camera was close by, but I just enjoyed the moment…
I’m fairly sure it was a female ruby-throated hummingbird…
how blessed that I was sitting in that spot and looked up at that exact moment…
Sunday, now that the two coats of primer were on, the actual paint went onto the shelves and the doors… and because it was going to rain, we had to do the doors inside, rather than on the deck, lol…
then we got to relax as we waited for it to dry…
we checked out a few other projects and I put back the banner that had come down in the hall…
looks so much better now that the holes have been repaired…
once we got home the ceiling received its second and final coat of paint… looks great…
and the new light fixture is super bright and very cool looking… by accident, the Tp-Link switch we put in a few days ago makes the light dimmable… woohoo…
we moved all the dishes from the upper cabinets to the dining room table and then I went through everything and was able to delete about a third of it…
now to box those items up and arrange to give them away…
while that was happening, the doors on the cupboard were removed, the inside sanded and two coats of primer rolled on… what a difference it has already made to the dark red interior…
