the cleaners were here today and while they were inside the house, I was in the garden on the back deck spending time with googly finding the answers to the Happy Mail for Chocolate Lovers crossword that I received in an email mid-August;-)…
it was fun learning new facts about the various places where cacao grows…

big excitement when I discovered 2, yes 2, beans growing, lol…
I had planted a number of seeds but thought that none of them had survived… I’m not sure whether the crazy hot weather affected them…
happily, my neighbour brought me another feed which I had with my supper…
not exactly sure what I will do with two as they still aren’t quite ready, lol…

yesterday I had a nice haul of veggies in the garden…
the cukes all have an odd shape but are tasty…
usually I’ve only planted a few tomatoes and the odd pepper, so I’m rather pleased with this year’s veggie garden…

had a lovely in-person gathering with my BS buddies…
Monday evening is our usual time to gather, and we’ve been doing that for many years…
since the lockdown we’ve been connecting via Skype, but for the last number of weeks we’ve been meeting on the deck in the garden, unless the weather doesn’t cooperate…
it is wonderful to be together again… we sit apart, but are able to enjoy each other with a cup of tea or coffee…
laughter fills the air…

received my new earbuds…
two or three weeks ago my pretty Samsung Earbuds just stopped working… all of a sudden they wouldn’t pair with my phone… of course they were not under warranty… the service department suggested I have them repaired locally but the local people advised they would have to send them away… it was going to cost $55 if they sent them away and I decided not to have them repaired… and it wasn’t clear how much the repair might cost…
I thought about it for quite a while and did a ton of research before deciding on these ones…
I want them mainly for phone calls which meant there weren’t that many options and ones that would be comfortable in my ears…
I finally ordered them on Wednesday, and they were delivered on Friday;-)…
they were easy to pair with my iPhone and music sounds good…
will have to see how they are on phone calls…
wish me luck;-)…

on Monday the slinky arrived in the mail…
we’d been looking for a while and apparently everyone has been buying them as there were none available nearby…
this one was ordered on Thursday and turned up just four days later…
once the rain stopped I put it on the bird feeder pole…
I didn’t pin the bottom down as I read that this wasn’t required…
we will see if it keeps the squirrels from getting to the feeder…

on Sunday night I slept for 8 hours…
now that the Olympics are over I can turn the tv off at night and get a great sleep…
well, I could have turned it off during the Olympics, but that just wasn’t in the cards, lol… I would slide in and out of sleep to watch whatever might be getting the announcer excited…
retirement has certainly made watching middle of the night events easier…
8 hours;-)… woohoo…

very excited to gather some of the ripe cherry tomatoes to add to my lunch…
also picked basil to go along with the bocconcini pearls that have been waiting in the fridge…
a delicious fresh lunch;-)…

was watering the plants when I spotted movement in the pond…
when I looked more closely, I realized that a dragonfly was struggling in the water…
I was able to get it out of the water and set it down where it could dry out…
it wasn’t moving so I thought that it took too long to lift it out…
I checked on it a few times and it was very still…
later I went over, and happily, it had flown away;-)…
yay;-)…

came across this photo yesterday… it is one of my all time favourites…
it was taken twenty years ago (so it isn’t quite as crisp as I would like) in a rented hot tub in our yard…
for a few years we would rent a hot tub for our anniversary weekend… it was such fun and a wonderful treat… so lucky to now have my own hot tub to use whenever I want;-)…
the lifesaver is so cute and his little face is adorable;-)…
our grandson just loved it then, and he still enjoys using hot tubs…
makes me smile to remember special times…
