began the process of bringing in the plants for the winter…
I have my usual ones, the mandevilla, hibiscus, lemon tree, and Japanese Maple…
I am also bringing in some additions… the new purple hibiscus, bacopa, a couple of begonias, silver falls, a dahlia, and lantana… we’ll see how they do, and where I am going to put them…
then there are the small Japanese maple and sapling that my housemate plans to make into bonsai, lol…
I have tried a setup in the window and will see how I like it;-)…
we’ve been meeting in the garden but it was only going to 2 degrees Celsius so we decided it was time to come inside…
one person joined via Zoom and had dropped off a lovely treat for us beforehand… boob (for breast cancer awareness month) and regular macarons from Jenna Rae Cakes…
I left the front and back doors open to move fresh air… everyone wore masks until we were all seated…
it was the first time we’ve met in the house since the pandemic began…
felt lovely and odd at the same time, lol…
soon we will all have had the fifth shot which will make us feel a bit more confident about being in a closed space together…
so happy to be getting back to more ‘normal’ times…
in preparation for the colder weather I’ve now brought in the three plants that live in the house…
last week the Japanese maple came in and settled back in beside the living room window… the leaf colours had already started to change…
a few days back, the mandevilla came in… I added fresh earth and sprayed it with insecticide to remove any creepy crawlers that might have wanted to take a trip…
it had been hanging outside and really wanted to lean forward… eventually three elastics helped make it stand up straight… hope it doesn’t decide to fall over in the dining room…
yesterday I brought the hibiscusinside…. excited to see it has buds on it;-)…
might also bring in a couple of others to see if they can survive the winter in the house…
and tonight I’ve covered the dahlias… the temperature is likely going to -4 Celsius… four of them have buds and I’m hoping they get to open… for two of them, it will be the first time they bloom and I am interested to see how they look…
first this morning, when I went to get some bloodwork done… now, both entrances to the clinic are open… last time I was there only the main door was open and there was a staff person making sure people were using hand sanitizer before they entered… today there was neither sanitizer nor staff person… not sure if that is an improvement or not…
I am getting more used to wearing the mask, but really dislike the fact that my phone won’t recognize me when it is on my face, lol…
later in the day I walked over to La Belle Baguette and put one on to enter the store;-)…
that may have been the first time since March that I have been inside two buildings in the same day…
yesterday I went for a doctor’s appointment… had arranged to get my car back from my grandson who has been using it while I’ve been staying home…
it was the first time in three months that I have entered a building that wasn’t my house, lol…
this was also the first time I’ve worn my mask and had it on the whole time I was there…
had to manage a few new processes… only one door is used to enter and exit the building… and it wasn’t the one I was used to… got in a few extra steps…
the process for bloodwork is basically the same – waiting… although there are way fewer chairs, the gate is partially closed, and there was sanitizer everywhere…
I did giggle looking at the chairs in all the waiting rooms… to ensure separation, for every chair you could sit in, two or three were turned to the wall… looked like a snake, lol…
the other thing that made me giggle was the fact that my iPhone didn’t recognize me with my mask on, lol… if I am going out more, I might need to add me with a mask on for it to recognize me, lol…
went grocery shopping this morning… ended up with so much that they had to use a second cart to put the last of the bags in…
once I got home it took a while to get everything put away… but eventually it all found a home…
had wanted to go out for a walk but it was quite cool so I had a nap instead…
spent a few minutes with a tiny friend and did some laundry…
for my dinner I barbecued a steak…
rarely do I barbecue but I’ve been craving a steak for a while, so I put on the big girl pants and did it myself… baked a potato, cooked up some mushrooms, and made a tomato/Bocochini/basil salad…
it was excellent…
put the car back into the garage just as it began to spit…
