somewhere I have a couple of boxes filled with Halloween decorations…
for the life of me, can’t find them…
so, this year there are two pumpkins, two witches’ hats, a cape and a skeleton to decorate, lol…
but a friend is over… we picked up Za Pizza for supper, and we have goodies to give out…

picked up a poppy the other day…
dug around and found a backing piece and put the poppy on my jacket… I hate to lose them…
it feels important to wear this sign of respect for our veterans and those who serve now…

recently I’ve heard a lot about Wills…
today on tv they were discussing the need for one, and how most people don’t get that piece of organization done…
I did mine in July of 2012… and I likely need to update it as they mentioned you should review it every five years or so…
amazingly, it has been over seven years since it was written… it was shortly after my beloved died and I was getting ready to have major surgery… I wanted to have my affairs in order on the chance that I didn’t make it… wanted things to be as easy as possible for the girls…
rather proud that I was able to put my fingers on it right away when I went looking, lol…

I’m not sure why but I love bendy buses…
I’ve ridden in them in Ottawa, when visiting my daughter and son-in-law… there are lots of them there…
there haven’t been many here until recently…
for whatever reason they’ve been driving down the street by our office and I got a photo the other day…
not sure why, but when I see them they make me smile…

had to go to the dentist for a couple of fillings… sad face…
I am seriously stressed by dentists, but go regularly so that I don’t have any problems… clearly had a very negative experience as a child and the fear has never left me…
I’ve been going to a specialized dental office for over twenty years and still I am nervous every time I go, lol…
the nerves at this appointment came because many years ago something happened when I was getting the freezing in my upper teeth… I mentioned it, and she changed the type of medication she used and then stood and chatted with me until it was time to start the procedure… clearly an attempt to keep me calm, lol…
got this shot as I was walking back to the office… felt much more relaxed as I passed by the Delta…

today marked ten years at my current workplace… a lot has happened in those ten years and these people are part of my family…
a big deal to me… and so I had lots of fun preparing for the day…
I wrote notes, distributed flowers, and made a lovely lunch of Thai Shrimp soup along with salad, fresh bread and tarts from La Belle Baguette for dessert…
not every day you can celebrate such a milestone…
it is such fun to walk around and see flowers everywhere;-)…
my beloved would have enjoyed helping me with this special event… I truly am blessed…

last night I had dinner with a trio of special women, two of whom I just met, lol…
I had soup and five mini crab cakes with roasted garlic mayo, apple salad and mixed greens… very tasty… everyone else had scallops…
after a relaxing meal we travelled to the Cirque du Soleil tent on Kenaston to see Amaluna…
it was excellent… I’m always amazed at the flexibility of the performers and what they can make their bodies do… it was also fun to see a performance under the big top, which reminded me again of my first time at Cirque du Soleil in Montreal many years ago;-)…
a wonderful treat…

been thinking a lot of our dear friend Margaret…
she was my parents’ neighbour and our good friend since I was about fifteen…
I remember our Chinese food parties on payday Fridays… my beloved and I would go over and mom and dad would come from next door and we would have a delicious dinner…
she enjoyed the girls when they came along and loved spending time with them…
the cane I am using belonged to her…
I can remember saying to her later in her life “you have to put the cane on the ground, not just carry it”…
lovely memories…

today marks my 2,500th blog post…
seems like an amazing accomplishment for me…
hard to believe that on December 1st, 2012, I started writing this blog so that I could share about the changes to my life and the things I’ve had to do following the death of my beloved…
there was such a learning curve about all the issues I have had to deal with as a widow…
it has morphed into more of a daily journal of my life and what I see around me…
it is also hard to realize that my beloved has been gone for 7 1/2 years – that’s 90 months – 2,751 days… an instant… forever…
although I am truly blessed, I sure do miss him…
