had my quarterly doctor’s appointment yesterday…

nowadays it involves a bit of organizing… once I have the date, I have to go a week beforehand for my blood work… which means that my grandson and I have to sort out when I can get the car back twice…

yesterday morning he brought it early and went for a bike ride while I went for my appointment…

we met up at home and there was just enough time for him to run out and pick up breakfast for me before he headed off… a nice treat…

it is a bit of a pain to sort out when I need the car, but his having it and doing any shopping that I need is so helpful during these COVID times…

he’s planning to come over on Sunday, clean the aquarium and run out and replace the dead pump so it is ready for the fish to move in… time seems to be flying by…

we are also going to have lunch;-)… talk about being blessed…

lately the geese have flown over the house honking at all times of the day… it is a sure sign that summer is nearing its end, and a sound that I love to hear…

walked over by the Park this morning with my daughter (on the phone) and watched geese going over…

also took a few photos of a pair of geese who were right beside the walkway and happy to pose…

they were not in the least perturbed by people walking so close to them… not sure if that is good or bad…

recently it was pointed out to me that I don’t show much of my garden on Instagram…

that is because I usually focus on close ups of the flowers in the garden, lol…

when I joined Instagram my focus was photos of flowers and I have continued to concentrate on that theme over the years with the odd picture of critters and chocolate included…

this is rather funny as I spend most of my days in this renewing space…

a few days ago I took a number of photos in the garden once all the cushions were out and then put them up in my Stories…

it was a fun process and I had to relearn how to do a few things;-)…

now there are Highlights of the garden… of course the funny thing is that the garden is not at its best as we are moving into Fall… maybe next year I can start earlier in the season so others can see this sanctuary throughout the entire summer…

I love my garden and wonder how this crazy summer would have been without it…

I searched through my photos and it looks like August 11 was the first time I took a photo of the buds on the mandevilla… this was the first time this summer that this houseplant has even started to get buds…

this morning, 26 days later, the first bloom is open…

they take an incredible amount of time to open;-)…

had some tea and ginger snaps this afternoon and thought of my beloved…

ginger snaps were one of his favourites… I’m pretty sure he would have liked these…

looks like a lot, but most were broken, lol… I am getting used to ginger in things now, although for years I stayed away from it…

had my face mask on twice today…

first this morning, when I went to get some bloodwork done… now, both entrances to the clinic are open… last time I was there only the main door was open and there was a staff person making sure people were using hand sanitizer before they entered… today there was neither sanitizer nor staff person… not sure if that is an improvement or not…

I am getting more used to wearing the mask, but really dislike the fact that my phone won’t recognize me when it is on my face, lol…

later in the day I walked over to La Belle Baguette and put one on to enter the store;-)…

that may have been the first time since March that I have been inside two buildings in the same day…

it was rather chilly yesterday morning… I wore pants, a long sleeve shirt and my spring/fall jacket for my walk;-(…

after the walk, with my daughter on the phone, I had breakfast and checked out the garden, but it was still chilly, lol…

deadheaded the datura in the front flower bed, did some reading and watched a very informative webinar on bird migration…

seemed like a busy day, lol…

had a short walkabout this morning and took some photos of flowers in the garden…

the water lily looks to be opening for the last time… the other two are already sinking into the water…

the butterfly bush is still blooming every day…

the datura has some beautiful colours…

there are still a few morning glories blooming each day…

and finally, the sunflower is beginning to open… not sure if it will produce sunflower seeds…

not too long ago we got a new shade umbrella… it has worked well for a portion of the day, providing shade for one chair but I was hoping it might adjust to provide more coverage, depending on the time of day…

yesterday I learned how to turn it, which I didn’t think was possible… very exciting…

unfortunately, the sun had already put the whole backyard in shadow so we couldn’t test it out… I’d hoped to see what it could do today, but it has been overcast followed by a thunderstorm… no sun expected, but tomorrow should be sunny all day;-)…

no testing today, lol…
