had wonton soup for supper…
seemed like just the thing as I haven’t felt particularly hungry…
I’ve been eating yellow peppers and vitamin C throughout the day in an effort to stop a cold from giving me grief…
the only thing I’ve been feeling is tired… I slept for eight hours straight overnight, which is not my usual pattern, and was still tired all day…
made mashed potatoes for tomorrow’s supper to go along with a roasted chicken and some type of salad…
then took a few naps and read a bit…
a quiet and restful day…

went out for a hot tub on Sunday afternoon… and tested out my new toque…
can’t even remember the last time I was out in the daytime… it has been too cold at night and when it wasn’t the deck hadn’t been shovelled, lol…
I went out a few days ago and got the space cleared off so it was ready…
it was only -21°C and I had a lovely time, although the mitten that I had put the phone into got wet while I was taking pictures, lol…
sometimes the lens gets a bit foggy when taking pictures from the tub…
the mountain of snow is quite high and I am hoping we can move some of it because it is getting difficult to throw the snow over the top of it;-)…

wow, last night we went to see a light ballet…
it was fun to go out in the evening because I don’t do that very often anymore, lol…
reminded me of when my housemate and I went to see a candlelight music presentation last year… standing in a long line beforehand and then how quickly it moved once the doors opened…
there was wine available and it was interesting to see the variety of people who attended, from young girls to elderly couples… seemed like date night for many in attendance…
besides the five dancers, a violinist played at various points during the show…
while the performance was on there was not a sound in the audience…
parking went well and even the cold temperatures didn’t bother the crowd…

had an oopsie yesterday as I was in the process of cleaning out two of the pumps…
the pothos that sits on the shelf above the tanks had gotten really full and long, so I decided to trim it, sigh…
apparently I should have measured, lol…
the reason the plant is there is to cover up the space between two of the tanks where the pump fits…
so, once the pumps were cleaned up, a little bit of trickery took place…
I found a vase and filled it with the cut off pieces of the plant trying to have as many as possible high inside the vase…
it was still obvious that there was a space, so I added three paperback books that I had already read and put the vase back….
can’t even tell now… and once all the cuttings take root, I will pot them up and add them to the indoor garden, whew;-)…

my Nest thermostat is ticking me off…
for the last few weeks it has been telling me that it is figuring out the best way to be eco friendly for the winter season…
at bedtime it goes down to 16.5°C instead of the 18° where I want it to be…
although at night that isn’t such a problem, lol…
during the day, if I sit reading for too long, it drops the temperature by a couple of degrees… makes it rather chilly when it is cold, sigh…
a few nights ago, we changed a few things and it appears that it has made a difference… it looks like it won’t go below 21°C during the day;-)… woohoo…

had a great time preparing for a visit from a dear friend…
dug out some shortbread from the freezer, a few Russian Mints… and put out the pistachios in their special dish, which hasn’t been out since before covid…
we had a lovely visit and even did some learning with one of our social media platforms…
always fun to learn something new, and spend time with important people in my life;-)…

finished up the card box project, woohoo…
went through all of them and had no difficulty moving excess to the pass-along box…
it is always interesting to me how one day it is a simple process to toss/give away things, and another day you can’t let go of anything…
I relabelled some of the dividers to make them fit with my types of cards…
a pile has gone into the pass-along box and the rest put behind the appropriate tab in the box…
happily there is still room left for additional cards, lol… and my desktop is clean and tidy once more…
job well done, if I say so myself;-)…

had a lovely time this afternoon as I changed up the living room table drawers…
removed my favourite things which had been on display since the end of November…
I’d decided on a “love” theme for February and early March, so I looked around and found items that would fit…
I found butterflies, dragonflies, hearts, crystals, a few items which reminded me of travels, and the L O V E letters…
pleased with the results;-)….

I’ve been watching the solar lights in the garden over the last few days and have noticed that they are lighting up, having not been working for the last few months…
clearly the sun is getting much stronger, even though it has been cold…
so, tonight I was trying to get a shot of the solar light on the deck working and was stunned to see a coyote cross the pond and go behind the tarp which covers the outdoor furniture…
of course, I wasn’t fast enough to catch it in a photo…
I am a bit worried that it might be using the tarp as a den, so we will have to check into that in the morning 😬…
