that is the day that some lovely young men come in the morning, and within about fifteen minutes, have mowed the front and back, trimmed everywhere, blown any grass from walkways, and left;-)…
and often it is the day (usually every second week now) that Hilda the Gardener comes to tidy up the gardens…
so I particularly take pleasure in the rest of the day in this delightful space…
sitting by the pond after my visitors have left and enjoying the last bit of sunlight…
my water shoes are on the deck because I went into the pond once again and dredged up another pailful of leaves… the fish are still not coming out, but I did see the frog hop by earlier in the day…
all three of my grandsons came by just after noon… I made them grilled cheese sandwiches with the wonderful La Belle Baguette whole wheat sourdough that was delivered yesterday…
the oldest left, the middle one mowed the grass, front and back, while the youngest watered plants and pulled weeds…
some days it is hard to realize he is eleven and can reach and do more things…
after the work was done, relaxing happened and visiting took place…
this was the first time I’ve had people in the house and the system was they had access to the basement for cooling down and using the washroom and I had the main floor… worked perfectly…
we ordered Chinese food for supper and it arrived just before the daddy, who had been at work all day… afterwards my downspout got fixed, a stair board tightened and then off they went…
it was a treat to see them and I enjoyed every minute… I missed my nap, but plan on making it an early night;-)…
yesterday morning I received an email from my new neighbours… they moved in on the 15th and have been busy getting settled and welcoming friends since then… they have also added two puppies to their family… so far the puppies are very quiet… unfortunately directly behind them live two small, and very yappy, dogs who are constantly barking…
anyway, back to the email… they mentioned they would be working in their front yard and wondered if I would like them to mow my grass…
made me giggle a little bit, as the front yard looks like a meadow filled with yellow flowers… bad news is of course those flowers are dandelions, lol… as I’ve mentioned previously, my beloved was probably making faces from above…
of course I responded quickly with a very happy yes please… I was thinking they might want to get rid of all the dandelions so they wouldn’t have so many, although the other side of their yard has lots in it as well… or maybe they were just being kind…
I am consulting with my middle grandson to see if he can come over and mow for me every week, but we aren’t quite organized yet…
just after five I heard the sound of a mower and spotted one of them working away at the front of the house… once mowed, a whipper snipper was taken to the area as well… it didn’t have a cord, very nice…
as I look at the dandelions blooming in the front yard and think about the yard work that needs to happen I am really missing my beloved…
he did not appreciate the dandelions and was often out digging or spraying to get rid of them, lol…
I don’t care and figure they will get cut down when the grass is mowed… I also remember all the times that kids and grandkids have brought them to me as gifts;-)…
he also spent hours in the garden, weeding and tidying and rearranging…
he loved playing in the pond;-)… it would not have near the number of leaves in it currently were he around, lol…
happy that my grandson has been able to add mowing my grass on Sunday’s to his schedule… he has a busy one now that he is working a full time job, a part time job, volunteering weekly, and participating in rowing events…
as he was mowing the back I went out to take a picture and he stopped so I couldn’t get him in the shot… brat…
I did catch him a couple of minutes later, lol…
nice to have the creeping Charlie and dandelion patch trimmed back…
had a fairly good sleepover night… little guy was still sick and got up at three for about an hour… saw this out the window…
misty… looked ethereal…
had a busy day… went to the Children’s Nature Playground at the park and spent a few minutes quietly watching the deer… we saw five in total…
great time on the swings… these round ones are very popular… the area was nearly empty so they could play on everything as much as they wanted…
then I spotted a few wasps on the butterfly weed… pretty good photo just with my iPhone…
on to the crow’s nest… this was the most popular slide for these two…
finally headed to the train for a ride… we chose the very back because the last time we took a ride on it with grandpa it was in this spot… here they are making a space for him…
the one down side was that apparently all the mosquitoes love this spot…
picked up groceries and had a quiet time when we got home… a bit later in the afternoon the older one mowed the back garden…
and the front yard… first time he has done this so we had a bit of a lesson…
he did a great job… after supper they headed home…
