spent a bit of time getting all the chairs out, as well as cushions, for our Monday afternoon gathering…
even rigged an umbrella over an additional chair to be sure everyone had shade…
before that, I used the same umbrella to provide a bit of shade for the creeping thyme that we moved on Saturday… hoping it likes the new spot and starts to cover a bit more ground, lol…
had fun on Saturday when Hilda the Gardener came to work in the garden… I’d been thinking a bit and had a few projects in mind… it is wonderful to have her here to do the heavy lifting;-)…
the creeping Charlie was removed from one of the beds and a few plants were moved around…
while she was doing that, I mixed soil and grass seed and filled a few low spots in the grass…
the lily of the valley and Virginia creeper were removed along the house in the veggie garden… I think we are going to add some hostas in this area… I am happy that we can separate plants rather than have to run out and buy new ones…
and the Virginia creeper around the gate was trimmed up…
we always like to take before and after pictures when we are working on some of the bigger projects;-)…
on Friday evening I brought the lounger onto the deck and put a number of comforters on it…
Friday night…
then, once it was dark I headed out for my version of camping, lol…
had a pretty good sleep and enjoyed looking at the stars whenever I woke up during the night… and there were no mosquitoes;-)…
Saturday morning…
the weather looked good and that went so well that I decided to sleep out again on Saturday night…
around 4:30 am drops began to land on me😳, and shortly thereafter all of the paraphernalia was on the kitchen floor and I headed upstairs to my bed, lol…
this picture came up on my Facebook memories recently…
I can still remember that day… we were in Courtenay and drove up Mount Washington… there was no one else around as it was summer… we sat at the bottom of the ski hill for a very long time as we were both afraid of heights…
but we decided to go for it…
we got on the chairlift but the person didn’t put the safety bar down… we realized this as we were moving upwards… I think that the bars along the back and beside me, that I was holding onto for dear life, probably had dents from the grip I had on them😳…
there are no pictures because of the death grip… we were both terrified…
when we arrived at the top the staff person didn’t seem that worried about it, but did say they would ensure that the bar was put in the correct position when we descended…
there was still snow on the ground and the views were beautiful, but I was still nervous about going back down…
of course, we had no choice about going down… after being safely secured correctly, we made the trip down and I even enjoyed some of the views, lol…
but, once we made it back to town, we stopped and sat in a coffee shop for quite a while to let our nerves settle;-)…
quite a while ago my neighbour brought me a birdhouse that he had made from leftover fence bits…
it was very cute but I left it on the deck and it fell over and the perch broke off… a friend was here and took it home so that her partner could repair it…
recently got it back and found a spot to hang it up…
they seem like a lovely couple, but they have two dogs…
the dogs bark whenever they see or hear me in the garden… or if there is any activity in the area… if another dog barks, they bark, if someone goes down the lane they bark… if someone gets too close to the front of their house, they bark…
the former residents had a dog, but it was taught not to bark, and I knew the words they used, so I was able to reinforce their training… so it didn’t bark at me after a very short while…
I asked if there were any specific words to use to stop the barking, but apparently they don’t have any…
I am hoping that these dogs will eventually accept that I am not a threat and will stop with the barking whenever I move around the garden…
I have been trying to sit very still as I read or watch the nature around me…
