for most of the winter the bedroom window has been closed all the time, partly because it was frozen shut and partly because it has been incredibly cold…
a few nights ago it was finally warm enough to open it and keep it open for the night…
and I also opened the screen door during the day for a little while to let some of that – not freezing – fresh air into the house;-)…
the restaurant was very busy, but we were seated by the window at a two-person table, so were quite a distance from the other diners…
we shared chorizo spiced seitan tacos, I had pork and veal meatballs, and my grandson had a fancy hamburger and everything was tasty… we decided to skip dessert and go for blizzards after our visit to the biomes…
as we wandered through the Tropical biome it was quite amazing to see how the plants have grown… the place is absolutely lush;-)… leaves fell over the walkways in a number of spots, lol…
looking down from the bridge on the third floor it was striking to see how much everything has grown…
it was the first time since that inaugural visit that I’ve been at night… unfortunately it was too dark for my Nikon so all my photos were with my iPhone… got to see some bananas, a pineapple, coffee beans and cacao pods…
it looks like the inside of the biomes have been wrapped with plastic, and the fans in the Tropical biome were blowing rather vigorously…
it was exciting to see that there were a great number of various-sized smaller koi in the pond… babies, maybe;-)…
the next post will be about the Mediterranean biome;-)…
I had a nap in the afternoon and went to bed a little early Saturday night so I could get up to watch the F1 race from Las Vegas… usually the races are much earlier in the day, but this was a night race…
set my alarm for midnight and got up without a problem…
found a snack and drink and curled up in bed to watch the race…
stayed awake the entire time and enjoyed the action…
on Friday evening I brought the lounger onto the deck and put a number of comforters on it…
Friday night…
then, once it was dark I headed out for my version of camping, lol…
had a pretty good sleep and enjoyed looking at the stars whenever I woke up during the night… and there were no mosquitoes;-)…
Saturday morning…
the weather looked good and that went so well that I decided to sleep out again on Saturday night…
around 4:30 am drops began to land on me😳, and shortly thereafter all of the paraphernalia was on the kitchen floor and I headed upstairs to my bed, lol…
as I was sitting in the hot tub on Saturday night and watching the few stars that I am able to see from there, I was reminded of a Saturday night we spent at the lake…
we went out, with blankets and warm clothes, and laid on the couch on the cliff deck and watched the stars through the tree canopy…
it was a beautiful night with few bugs and the sky was spectacular…
we saw satellites, constellations, and shooting stars… even some fireflies;-)…
in the middle of the night I woke up to what sounded like the snow plows cleaning the street…
but there hadn’t been any snowfall that needed removal…
I lay there listening for a while, but eventually I had to see what the kerfuffle was all about…
I could see lights through the bedroom window so went downstairs to have a better look…
it was a bit disconcerting because I could see a police car sitting down the street in the middle of the road…
there were flashing lights on the next street from another police or fire vehicle…
and a spotlight was shining down from the police helicopter…
as I watched for quite a while, and eventually listened from back in bed, the helicopter flew in circles with the light shining down all around the houses close to me…
the light flashed into the bedroom a number of times…
I felt nervous and didn’t want to sleep for a while so I watched a cooking show until all was quiet and hopefully whoever or whatever they had been looking for was caught or gone…
