early start to the day with a dentist appointment for a filling…

usually my teeth are in great shape and the regular cleaning and check-ups keep any cavities away…

unfortunately last time I was in, she noticed a broken piece on one of my back molars… I hadn’t been wearing my mouthguard as much as I am supposed to, which might have been the problem…

let me tell you I’ve been wearing it every night since… don’t want any more broken bits, sigh…

this morning she was sad when she realized which tooth it was, because I gag easily, so doing work at the back of my mouth is always stressful… for me and for her… she doesn’t want to cause any unnecessary stress or strain on me if at all possible…

whenever she does a procedure on my teeth she works quickly and takes frequent breaks so I can breathe… this is one of the reasons that I found a dentist who dealt with “chickens”… and they love purple;-)… at the water station they have the cutest little purple cups…

today it went well until they were removing some of the stuff they had stuck into my mouth, lol… but, I survived…

I don’t have dental insurance and usually what I pay for 3 cleanings and check-ups is less than the insurance… today’s bill was more than anticipated, but worth it to stop any further decay…

once I got to the office I had a blueberry smoothie, which was purple too…

yesterday I wandered around the house taking pictures of the flowers that I found…

there were some in the living room…

some on the dining room table…

and finally, some in the bedroom;-)…

that is really what I like to see…

as mentioned many times previously, flowers make me happy;-)…

a colleague advised she had to pick up this magnet for me recently, lol… she also took this shot…

and a close-up of one of the bouquets, that just happened to be purple…

today I got to drive my new car to work for the first time…

flowers were the first thing that got carried in the car… how lovely is that;-)…

I’ve been contemplating her name for a while now… depending on the light the colour moves from blue to purple…

spent some time checking out purple-ish names… had fourteen on my list but the ones that resonated the most were

amethyst – orchid – periwinkle – indigo

in the end Indigo was the winner… it is described as a colour between blue and purple…

she will go by Indi;-)… suits her…

right…

my goodness, crazy busy day…

woke up really early and watched a few tv shows…

had difficulty walking as my right knee has gone from a bit of discomfort to serious pain…

got ready and went for blood work for my next doctor’s appointment… I always try not to stress but it is difficult as I wonder if I’ve consumed the wrong foods which could have raised my A1C… the technician did a great job as I barely have a mark on my arm… yay…

was able to get in for a pedicure at the last minute and it went well… a few times I had to hold my leg as the aesthetician worked on it… she had lovely purple hair and is the most gentle person on staff…

then it was off to the physiotherapist office to see what they might be able to do to help my very sore knee… it had been uncomfortable for a while but in the last two days I have barely been able to walk…

he advised that is was inflamed but felt it was likely osteoarthritis… did lots of measuring, pushing and pulling and then used ultrasound and electricity on it… I have things to do three times a day and go back in a week… he mentioned that it was likely going to hurt a bit more after all his prodding… and he was right…

icing it as I write this… good news is that it should be much better by the time I head to Ottawa;-)…

thinking of my beloved a lot recently… for the past few days I’ve been thinking of his fried egg sandwiches…

this morning I made an open-faced version using some of the French bread from La Belle Baguette that I picked up yesterday…

I can’t replicate what he did… they were always especially yummy… although that might have to do with how much butter he would add to the bread, lol… and the eggs were always perfectly cooked with soft yolks…

I picked up a few hyacinths the other day… left one at work and brought one home for the bedroom… just love the scent as they open… as it bloomed, discovered that it was pink… I usually get the purple ones…

made me realize how much pink there is currently in the bedroom… I held the hyacinth up to the new curtains which have purples and pinks in them… then realized that my afghan has pink in it as well… and when I put away some laundry in the closet – which I recently hung by colour – I spotted some pink as well…

very interesting as pink has never really been one of my colours…

got a lovely gift today from a colleague who had been home for a holiday…

it is a dress, but I will have it shortened to make a very cute top… the detail around the neck is particularly nice… makes me feel a bit like a queen when I have it on;-)…

my colleague is hoping she will eventually convince me to wear a dress… can’t even remember the last dress I’ve worn… I do wear floor length dresses occasionally although at work they end up getting caught in the wheels of my chair… and I wear sarongs all the time at home…

as we were leaving the office, took a few shots of the lovely rose at her desk…

colour matches my new top…

woke up to snow falling… a fair bit came down through the night and it looked beautiful…

as I drove away I realized how big the drifts were…

after lunch I met a young friend at Total Wrapture and we had pedicures… then I decided to have a French manicure and in the end agreed to a shellac one… first time for that, so I will see how long it lasts…

home for a rest and quick supper and then off to see Come From Away with my buddy…

that’s her in the row in front of me and 3 seats over… I am calmly sitting here in the balcony ready for the show to begin, but it will be odd not to be able to chat with her throughout the play;-(… not too fond of heights so we got here in plenty of time to get into our seats while the lights were still on, lol…

spent a bit of time on New Year’s Eve prepping for our traditional New Year’s Day dinner…

while the kids were out, I began setting the table, and finished it early on New Year’s Day… decided on a silver and purple theme and had some fun finding decorations and napkins that would go well together…

there were just enough leftover Christmas crackers for everyone to get one and we read jokes, but did not put on any paper hats, lol… we can just squeeze around the table when there are eight of us and I have to push it up to the window so that everyone can get in… the table can expand further, the problem is that the dining room can’t…

while the steak and lobster tails finished thawing I prepped the potatoes for baking, cut up the Brussels sprouts, sliced the mushrooms and prepared the sauce for the escargot stuffed mushrooms…

once the kids arrived the sons-in-law looked after barbecuing the steaks and lobster… finished up a Caesar salad and the melted butter pots…

everyone had a taste of champagne or sparkling cider and we enjoyed a delicious dinner… we aren’t going to talk about the slightly overcooked Brussels sprouts, sigh…

we were all worn out so we ended the evening with a short visit and the Winnipeg kids headed home…

a bit of reading and visiting and we all headed to bed…
