what a great evening spent with three of my colleagues…
always a treat to get to visit and enjoy time together…
the women entrepreneurs who were celebrated at WEYA tonight were all about health and wellness… a good reminder to take time to care for yourself…
they are an amazing group… our province is in good hands;-)…

spent quite a while on the phone with my daughter this morning… our conversation started as I was walking home from the Park…
finished the call relaxing in the garden before it got too hot…
and how exciting is this;-)…
finally the first flower on the mandevilla opened today…
there are dozens of buds so it will be interesting to watch them all open…

two thousand one hundred and ninety-one days since my beloved left me…
you would think that six years would make it easier…
some days it does seem a little easier… many days it doesn’t…
I do things that I’d never done before and I do them well… those big girl pants and all… but I would much rather have him beside me…
I continue to try to remember the good times and focus on them rather than feel sorry for myself… although there are certainly times when I wallow…
I’ve learned to feel those moments and sit in them and not push them aside… I believe that has helped me move forward…
as I write this the tears fall… over the last few weeks I’ve have been reminded of the days when George died and the memorial that followed… it has been very stress-filled as I have been reliving the hours and days immediately following his death…
thinking back to the police arriving at the door and my friends going with me to the hospital… not being told he had died, but walking into the room where his body was… calling my girls, and others… signing a form so that they could harvest his organs… going home to a house without him…
hard days… but today I got chocolate in the mail and bought myself a bouquet of flowers to make me smile;-)…
one step at a time on the journey…

tonight I had a piece of Decadence chocolate with strawberries and blueberries with one of the last shortbread cookies that a dear friend gave me at Christmas…
she recently lost her mom and I have been thinking of her over the last few days so it was nice to remember her as I ate the snack…
many in my circle are struggling with health and family difficulties… it is good to spend a bit of time thinking of them and sending healing vibes through the air…
life is unpredictable and it’s good to make the most of every moment… today I had the opportunity to connect with a few wonderful women who I haven’t seen for a while… what a gift…
I truly am blessed…

what a lovely day… kids arrived and we decided to head out to get a few pumpkins… on our way we FaceTimed with the kids in Ottawa… good to see them and share Thanksgiving greetings…
we’ve been trying to get to Schwabe Pumpkins for a few weeks… it was chilly and rain came down a few times while we were there, but fun, and we really enjoyed the colours as we drove there and back…
when we got home the boys caught the fish, cleaned and got the aquarium going, and moved the fish into their condo…
the youngest two reorganized the sea shells as we talked about the fun we had in Mexico in March…
dinner was delicious and cleanup was quick with all the help… leftovers for here and there were packed up and they headed home…
I certainly appreciated having their company for the day… now to bed…

started my day with flowers in the garden…
very few purple morning glories today… for whatever reason the flowers are much more pastel these days…
I ended the day with this shot of my bouquet in the bedroom…
the sun was coming through the window and highlighting some of the daisies and the hydrangeas from the garden…
so happy when I get to spend a few moments seeing the beauty around me…

yesterday my grandson picked me up at work and we drove to the lake to meet up with the rest of the kids…
a lovely drive and time to catch up with the oldest…
when we arrived at the campsite folks were starting to prepare dinner… perogies, garlic sausage, onions, mushrooms, corn on the cob, French beans and yellow wax beans…
and, as they nearly always do, cooked over the fire… takes a while, but was delicious…
not sure if the slightly murky looking skies are due to the wildfires in BC… have noticed that the sun is often behind a haze…
it was entertaining to watch the two men in the group as they had fun chopping wood for the fire…
they are brothers and worked so well together to get the job done, but were clearly enjoying every minute…
family time…

two 3-book series from Nora Roberts… she is one of my favourite authors but I haven’t been reading for quite a while…
underneath all those shoes and clothes the books are in the bag…
looking forward to the opportunity to spend time just relaxing and reading…

1825… days since my beloved left me… 261 weeks… 60 months…
hard to believe so much time has gone by… although it also feels like it was just a moment ago…
he was my best friend, lover, staunch supporter, caregiver, sounding board, helper, chauffeur, shopper, masseuse, gardener, and…
as each anniversary of his passing has come and gone I have been through a variety of emotions… profound sadness, loneliness, and many tears…
some years it has been less difficult than others, but it never has a clear path… not more difficult at the beginning and less so as time has gone by…
the first year my colleagues all wore purple to show their support to mark the day… sweet and supportive…
received flowers from the kids today…
beautiful… the orchids are nearly identical to the ones from graduation… my mauve dress and George’s matching turtleneck were designed and made by a friend and I wore a beautiful orchid corsage on my wrist… that was a very long time ago, lol…
and of course the roses… my romantic husband brought me hundreds over the years…
a lovely treat and they brought back some special memories…

sun came up early even though the time turned back an hour…
much of the technology in my house changes by itself… even the bedside clock…
still have to change the microwave and my watch…
no problem with the microwave…
the watch, on the other hand, was a big problem… tried everything… even going online looking for a manual, but no luck…
it is the correct time now… because my son-in-law stopped by on his way home from work… he showed me what he did… we’ll see if I can remember next time it changes, lol…
he also changed the timers on the various lights so they come on at the right time…
all set…
