Wednesday was such a lovely day…

started the morning with Hilda the Gardener, who arrived to do some maintenance in the garden… I’ve been thinking of the change that she has made to the space over the years;-)…

it always feels so fresh and tidy after her time here…

while she was working away, I picked beans and peas, and spotted some cucumbers starting, yay…

then a friend stopped by with a bag of books for me and I had a bag for her as well;-)…

we hadn’t seen one another for ages and had a great catch-up…

after they both left, I read and relaxed in this lovely space…

had some fun Tuesday morning in the garden…

happy to see the first hibiscus flower open… it didn’t seem to bloom as much as usual through winter…

and noticed begonias, tiny poppies and more bachelor buttons… the bachelor buttons have gone crazy, lol…

I’m hoping to capture some of their seeds and sprinkle them throughout the garden;-)…

and at last I saw some beans, purple ones, woohoo…

I even pulled weeds from the fancy morning glory planter…

they were planted late so I am hoping they will bloom before it gets too cold…

feels great as the garden is beginning to produce ;-)…

this morning I spent some time in the veggie garden… formerly known as the shade garden, lol…

there are peas starting to fill out the pods and the bean and cucumber plants are stretching up to the arch…

I’ve been doing some reading on tomato plants and decided to trim back the bottom leaves to give them more air…

I was surprised at how many branches were removed…

I guess we will see what develops…

went for a drive with my adventure partner…

drove just outside the city to Jonathan’s Farm to collect the veggies we both ordered online…

it was a sunny day and the drive was relaxing…

there was no one around when we arrived although I spotted someone in the field way down the way, lol…

we gathered up our produce and headed home…

the one thing we noticed was all the crazy drivers on the road, lol… Friday and everyone was in a hurry to get somewhere 🤪…

looking forward to some delicious meals…

spotted the Farmers Market by Foodfare on our way home last Saturday, so popped in to see what they had… and there were cloth vegetable bags in the car;-)…

picked up pickling cucumbers (my favourite), tiny red potatoes, a cabbage, and a cauliflower…

I keep forgetting that this market is here…

then for my lunch I had some cucumbers, cherry tomatoes from a friend, avocado, and a bit of cheese… yum…

what a treat;-)…

on Saturday I took a photo of the veggie garden arch…

I’ve taken lots, but haven’t felt they were just right…

finally I figured out that I should take one from the front yard, lol…

looks pretty… maybe next year I won’t have the beans growing across the top, where I can’t reach them, lol…

picked up this week’s bouquet subscription on Thursday…

thanks to my friend, after we stopped at the Wolseley Farmers Market where we picked up fresh veggies, we headed to River Heights to get the bouquet…

it is always fun to choose which bouquet to bring home…

my friend picked me up Tuesday and we went to Wolseley Farmers Market… first time this season…

so happy… fresh veggies…

also picked up a new mango tea to try…

cooked the potatoes and put them in the fridge to cool… popped country style spareribs into the oven and then boiled green and yellow beans, with snap peas… mixed in the potatoes and added butter… yum…

the first veggies of the season always taste so delicious 🤤…

Saturday was another glorious day in the garden…

and I started planting… yay… I added compost and fresh soil to the veggie gardens and then planted seeds as well as a pepper, some squash, cucumber and the beefsteak tomatoes… the seedlings came from Jonathan’s Farm and were in great shape…

excited to see if anything grows up and over the arch…

brought out the dahlia tubers and got them into planters as well as the new dahlia that I got from Lily Stone Gardens… it has been growing very fast… and finally put in a number of the morning glory seedlings that have been growing in the house…

the rain came down really heavy on Tuesday morning…

when I went out to check the garden I saw that one of the tomato plants had been knocked over… I was so shocked I didn’t even get a picture…

thankfully, I had a tomato cage in the garage, and it took a bit of finagling to get it over the plant… apparently it should have happened when the plant was much smaller, lol…

also pleased to see lots of flowers and the beginnings of the cucumbers;-)…
