as I sit here quietly in the living room I am thinking of two big events that took place in the last few days…

the first was a congratulatory note from WordPress… on December 1st, 2012 I began writing about my journey into widowhood… and have continued that since then, moving into commenting on my life…

the second was today, which would have been my beloved’s 77th birthday… this year we had burgers here, one of his favourite foods, while the kids in Ottawa had an apple galette… he loved apple pie… we had a video visit between the burgers and galette, lol…

my grandson is going to use his Christmas stocking for the first time…

I sure do miss him🤗…

yesterday, WordPress sent me congratulations on my blog, which turned eleven…

since then I have posted 4031 blogs, which is slightly over one per day…

the blog began 271 days after I lost my beloved, and many of the first ones covered the complications of moving forward as a widow… a lonely business…

sometimes I have deep thoughts, although most of the time they are just about what is happening around me and in my day-to-day life…

it is still fun to think of something to write about…

gosh, I think my head might be hurting, lol…

I spent time watching three different webinars all on the same day…

the first was a chair yoga session… planning on doing these three days a week…

then I learned some interesting things regarding my website and ways to improve it…

and finally, information on using my iPhone to take better photos…

I enjoyed it all and in the end it was a good day, although my brain may have been slightly overworked, lol…

today WordPress congratulated me on 50,000 views…

that was kind of exciting…

so I dove in and found a few numbers…

as of the end of the year, I had written 3333 posts… there were 3,287 days in that period… basically one post every day… how cool is that…

and I have used 482,698 words…

that works out to around 145 words per post…

interesting information;-)…

yesterday WordPress sent me a note marking seven years since I started blogging…

time has flown past…

and dragged slowly…

this was the first blog I wrote…

since then I have posted 2,573 times and had 25,300+ views…

wow…

my life has changed in so many ways, big and small…

the next event will take place a week Thursday, when I leave the not-for-profit organization where I have worked for ten plus years… retirement… a big step on the journey…

this is my 2000th blog post…

seems like forever since that December day when I signed in to WordPress to see how it worked… and wrote the first post… that was five years, five months and eight days ago…

over time I came to the decision that I would post something every day… and since I made that choice, have managed to accomplish that goal…

I have written about many of the processes that were involved to finish and close an estate, daily struggles and small steps in my new journey as I wear those big girl pants…

it has been cathartic…

every day is a new adventure…

been looking at my stats recently…

as of today I have 280 followers… 270 on WordPress and 10 via email…

sort of fun to review the insights and see how many people are checking it out…

it is also interesting to see where the viewers come from…

kind of amazing to think of people across the world checking out what you’ve written, lol…

I started writing in December of 2012… been a real journey… sometimes it feels like it was just yesterday and other times a decade ago…

and so we move forward… those big girl pants…

been exceptionally busy recently at work, but I’ve been having some great fun learning new technological things…

along with other things I’ve been doing some in-depth work in WordPress which has been great… discovering so much more of what can be done…

today I spent some fun time with a colleague as we learned a few new things about Instagram…

learning something new about technology gives me such a rush…

you can tell from the photo that we are having fun…

finished the day off with a snack of chips and Lindt Dark Chocolate with Sea Salt…

delicious… and a nice ending to the day…

today seemed to be all about food…

started out with breakfast at a regular event we now host monthly… it is at The Met just down the street from our office and the space is lovely, the staff are attentive and the food is excellent…

didn’t actually get a shot of my plate, but made this collage of the bits that filled up my plate…

then at lunch time – for our Souper Thursday – we had a marvelous Thai soup… my colleague has made this one a few times, but each time it is slightly different, always delicious…

spent some time sharing about how WordPress works… it is always exciting to share something you know about with others… nearly always learn something in the process…

finally tonight’s supper turned out to be a lovely garlic bread broiled with fresh garlic and brie and some strawberries on the side… I had a handful of pistachios a bit earlier…

as I ate my supper I was watching slopestyle and team figure skating, sigh… I do love the Olympics… a friend of mine was teasing me about this today, lol…

my day really was all about food…
