have been entertained over the last few days as a fence was being constructed across the street…
it took a while to figure out which house it belongs to…
the crew of two arrived before nine yesterday and worked until about four… they took many breaks to sit in their truck and warm up, lol… it was chilly…
they had an interesting machine which pounded the metal poles into the ground… there were two heights… then they built the frames and covered the tall section with black strips… at that point I realized the fence belonged to the house directly across from me, the fence on the other side of their property is also black…
after they cleaned everything up they ended their day, and I assumed the job, lol…
I thought it was interesting that the front section was just chain link, but maybe it would let the snow blow through…
then, this morning the truck was back and they added the black strips to the short section of the fence…
I was surprised when the doorbell rang as I wasn’t expecting anything, but after the recent surprise of my daughter at the door, I hurried to see who or what was there…
it was a parcel with my name on it;-)…
opened it to discover a Walker’s Shortbread Advent Calendar, woohoo…
the kids in Ottawa had sent it and I was very excited to receive it…
I’d never seen an advent calendar by them before and just recently my friends and I had been discussing how much we all liked their shortbread cookies…
I can hardly wait for December 1st when I can open the first flap on the calendar;-)…
what a delightful treat…
I was thinking about what a world we live in where you can see something, buy it online, and have it sent directly to someone in another city;-)…
on Sunday I finished the last of a large collection of books by Fern Michaels…
I had received the first of two boxes and a bag full of them at the beginning of August…
I have enjoyed every single one of the fifty-four and was a bit sad that I’ve finished them all… I can’t even think of how many hours I’ve spent in the garden and the living room devouring them, lol…
not half an hour later, the next book by JD Robb was delivered, woohoo;-)…
excited to read this and all the other books that have been on the sidelines since I started the Fern Michaels collection;-)…
Friday morning I had an appointment to have my teeth cleaned and only had to wait a few minutes before getting into the chair…
everything went well and I was happy to only pay a tiny piece of the invoice… thanks to the CDCP… I was pleased because previously my dentist had advised they wouldn’t be participating in the program…
I usually don’t eat before my appointment, so on the way home I got a breakfast burrito;-)… yum…
and then I admired my goody bag treats, lol…
I’ve been going to this dentist for years, but still stress before and during the appointment…
we went to the Park Cafe and my meal was very tasty…
my Reuben sandwich came with a garden salad and I really enjoyed it… it was just the right size, not too hard to eat, which I appreciated… I ate all of the salad and half of the sandwich…
packed up the second half and the pickle for my supper…
and then I had the apple crumble with caramel sauce and ice cream…
it was delicious, and to my credit, I only ate half of it🤪…
a few weeks ago one of my McIntoshmugs was broken as we met in the garden for our weekly gathering… I’m sure it had nothing to do with the table I had put on a slant, lol…
we really enjoyed the opportunity to be outside, as nice warm days are getting few and far between…
after much searching online, I ordered a chickadee mug in my favourite shape…
it arrived today and I was pleased to see that it will look nice when I hold it…
most mugs only have the design visible for right handed people…
