last week the cleaning company got a little confused and they came on Friday instead of Wednesday…

it always takes a bit of time to be sure everything is tidy for their arrival… when they didn’t arrive on Wednesday at the designated time, I called and left a message, but didn’t hear back…

Thursday I called and left a second message, but again didn’t hear back… this is not the norm with this company so I was starting to worry about them…

Friday, first thing in the morning I got a call… due to a few strange happenings, both of my calls had been missed and their scheduling app had a few hiccups, so they now had me scheduled for noon…

I ran around and did a final tidy and they arrived a few minutes early… they did a great job of making the place nice and shiny…

the bed always looks fancy after they’ve been, lol… very nice for an afternoon nap;-)…

impressed…

yesterday it snowed for most of the day and I took these photos…

this one was out the front of the house at 6:35 pm… sadly, it was dark out there…

early in the summer we finally found the coloured glass for the fire pit…

shortly after that it ran out of propane so we had to get the tank filled…

then it was warm, so I didn’t use it…

a while ago, I tried to turn it on and discovered there was a problem with the ignition system…

the kids figured out the problem, consulted with electricians and eventually ordered the required piece…

took some time, but it finally arrived…

we took out the tank and brought the fire pit into the kitchen… pieces came off and then we spotted a wasp nest… thought they were dead, but then they started to move… quickly it got put outside, spray was applied and it was left out there….

tonight, the stars aligned, and after some serious activity on the deck, it is working again…

yay, yay, yay…

was out and about like normal people on Wednesday…

walked to the community club to vote, then to the IDA drugstore and back home…

after lunch drove to Staples, Home Depot, and Chapters…

wore my mask whenever I was inside and felt pretty good about the whole business, lol…

gave my hands a good washing each time I arrived home…

had bloodwork done again yesterday morning…

when I was at my appointment recently, the doctor advised they hadn’t received a report from Dynacare with numbers for my A1C…

I had it taken a week ago, so he checked online, and it said there was no sample… once I got home I gave them a call and was told someone would call and they would come out to take it again at no charge…

apparently, something happened in the lab…

I am still happy to pay for them to come to the house to get this done, rather than go to a busy lab…

got two shots…

both needles in my right arm…

the flu shot was at the doctor’s office, but then I had to go to a local drugstore for the Pfizer bivalent vaccine…

apparently the Manitoba immunization schedule says that six months is needed between the boosters although drugstores are allowed to give the vaccine after three months…

interesting times…

took my first taxi since before the pandemic…

arranged ahead of time for a pickup to go downtown, and then walked to the Delta to get another one to come home…

had to go in and ask the concierge to call for one… I guess with less people downtown the taxis don’t sit outside the hotels all the time…

wore my mask for both trips and so did they…

a few days ago my new iPhone arrived…

my grandson arranged the whole thing and brought over the new phone…

he transferred all the data, made sure everything was working and added a protective screen…

transferring from one phone to another is certainly much easier than the last time I upgraded my phone…

I’ve taken a few pictures and am very impressed with the results…

now I will have to learn what is new and different…

now that the pond is empty and covered with the tarp, the camera isn’t really needed, so it came into the house…

happily, the bottom of it fit perfectly on the camera tripod…

set it up by the window where the bird feeder is attached…

this is particularly good now as the mandevilla blocks the view through the window…

looking forward to getting some great views of the guests at the feeder;-)…

today, my BS group gathered in the living room…

we’ve been meeting in the garden but it was only going to 2 degrees Celsius so we decided it was time to come inside…

one person joined via Zoom and had dropped off a lovely treat for us beforehand… boob (for breast cancer awareness month) and regular macarons from Jenna Rae Cakes…

I left the front and back doors open to move fresh air… everyone wore masks until we were all seated…

it was the first time we’ve met in the house since the pandemic began…

felt lovely and odd at the same time, lol…

soon we will all have had the fifth shot which will make us feel a bit more confident about being in a closed space together…

so happy to be getting back to more ‘normal’ times…
