been thinking a lot of friends and those in my circles who are struggling with various life situations…

this time of year is difficult for so many… nearly everyone has memories of those who might be gone for the first time this year, or they might be thinking of past celebrations with loved ones… there are those who don’t have anyone to spend time with, whether it is because of family being away or estranged or just not having anyone… it can make for difficult moments…

recently someone pointed out the importance of listening, not focussing on what you want to add to a conversation…

trying hard to focus and celebrate the special moments and let the not-so-special ones go… 

today I was treated to rice rolls which I love… a lovely moment… had them for my dinner… 

didn’t put them in the fridge so they wouldn’t be cold when I ate them… yummy…

was picked up at the office and got this shot of the moon which is going to be full tomorrow…

had a delicious supper at my daughter’s and then we headed to my grandson’s band concert… sat between the two little boys and had lots of fun, sharing chocolate and almonds…

the concert was great and certainly brings home the season…

what a gift to be able to attend special events like this…

was anticipating a quiet day but it didn’t turn out that way… did take a few pictures of the gorgeous snow…

worked on a project and then headed out to meet my kids…

we met up at IKEA, did a little shopping and then headed to Moxie’s for lunch… a wander through Rona and then I headed toward home as they went off to a soccer game…

stopped at Superstore to pick up a few groceries and some clothes jumped into my cart…

couple of pairs of leggings and three long-sleeve tops… with the cold weather haven’t seemed to have enough warm things for work…

bit of a nap and then I made Lemon Chicken and Rosemary Pappardelle from my ChefsPlate box…

the sky was beautiful again tonight…

finished work on the project and watched a bit of tv…

off to clean up from supper…

shine…

was up very early but excited to spot a star out the window… we have had little sunlight for over a week and the sky has been gray day and night… the star meant there was actual visible sky out there… yay…

kept stopping what I was doing to get some shots of the sunshine…

had to put my visor down because of the sun… woohoo…

had some fun with the ornaments on one of the trees…

lots of shine from outside…

it is so beautiful outside with all the snow… have to stop every time I go by a window… more fun from the inside as it has turned very chilly out there… -30 Celsius at the moment…

the critters are making lots of tracks in the garden… have spotted a few squirrels but no bunnies so far, although there are lots of bunny paw prints…

realizing how comfortable those big girl pants are much of the time… I’ve sorted out shovelling and looking after things like the hot tub without the blink of an eye…

but I sure do miss my beloved…

this morning I used my new pen to write the inscription in a book that I had purchased as a gift…

got it from a dear friend last week…

writes very nicely and is a beautiful shade of purple…

spoke with her this morning to check on how she is doing… lovely to take a few minutes to catch up with a friend…

all day long, whenever I walked around the office, I would comment to everyone about how wonderful the sun shining through the windows was…

we haven’t had sunshine for weeks as it has been dull and overcast so it was great to see it…

so busy that I never did get a picture, but I sure enjoyed those moments…

had a tasty treat after dinner tonight…

this was in my Advent calendar on day 4, which was also George’s birthday… it is 65% dark chocolate with coconut, candied violets and gold flakes by ChocoMe…

and it tastes delicious…

had it with some almonds to be sure I got a portion of protein with it…

after such a late start to winter the snow has been coming down like crazy for the last few days…

when I looked out this morning the driveway looked like it had just a bit of snow, but when I opened the garage door I discovered this drift…

clearly the car wasn’t going to make it through that… so I shovelled for a while… wasn’t too windy or cold, in fact I could hear water dripping from the eavestrough as I worked… 

it was, however, very heavy… and there wasn’t really anywhere to pile it up, so I did a bit of walking and dumping, lol…

eventually it was cleared enough for me to get the car out…

the drive downtown was slow but steady and most of the roads had little snow on them, thanks to all the workers who have been working around the clock to keep the city moving…

snowed off and on for most of the day and my grandson got dropped off at my office to come home and shovel again…

we parked on the street so he could work without anything in his way…

he worked outside and I made supper inside and we finished at just about the same time…

then we visited… well, he played on his phone and I wrote my blog while we waited for his dad to pick him up when he was done work… 

happily we had lots of conversation in the car and over supper…

just need to bring Shadow in and then head to bed…

woke up to this…

it had snowed all night and snow was sticking to everything… couldn’t see through the windows…

it looked different when I got home… it was still snowing a bit but was all cleaned up… very happy that I was able to get up the driveway and into the garage…

the Advent Elf came by and shovelled as my grandson wasn’t able to make it over… there was a lot of snow, and it isn’t done yet…

a pain to clean up and travel through but so beautiful…

my grandson met me at the office and came home to shovel…

he took this picture of the lit trees on our drive…

he shovelled and I made supper… we had the last meal in my ChefsPlate box which was a lentil meatloaf…

tasty, although I would use the processor to get the carrots and onions smaller another time… enough for three meals I think… he liked it although it was a bit heavier than he imagined… we also decided that the BBQ sauce might be better in the mixture instead of on top of it… will have to make it again with the changes and see how it comes out…

enjoy having supper with him on nights when he has time after he finishes with the snow…

always a treat…

recently took part in a conversation about how people met their significant other… reminded me of how our life together began…

forty-seven years ago today my beloved and I got engaged… we took our parents to Rae and Jerry’s for dinner to celebrate his 21st birthday… and announced our engagement at the same time…

we met in the Spring, shared an instant connection and had seen one another every day since… it really was love at first sight… 

he had come over to visit a friend who was living with us at the time… the friend worked at the garage that George’s dad owned and where George also worked…

we found the perfect ring together…

it was actually an engagement ring and the wedding ring which we had joined together…

funny because he had an amount in mind about what it should cost and was insistent on getting something that fit that budget… we picked it and he went in every few weeks to put money down on it so it would be paid off by his birthday;-)… in those days people didn’t buy much on credit…

I haven’t worn it for a number of years but will wear it today as a reminder of our amazing life together…

I have been, and continue to be, blessed…
