woke up to a thunderstorm yesterday… then had a nice walk, even in the wind and rain…

had to hang on to my hood so that it didn’t blow right off my head, lol… leaves were flying all over the place, but the rain had stopped…

when I came to a corner, the street was filled with water… up to the curb and edge of the tires on a nearby car…

when I walked by, maybe half an hour later, thankfully the water was all gone…

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the walk…

took my first taxi since before the pandemic…

arranged ahead of time for a pickup to go downtown, and then walked to the Delta to get another one to come home…

had to go in and ask the concierge to call for one… I guess with less people downtown the taxis don’t sit outside the hotels all the time…

wore my mask for both trips and so did they…

went out and took a few photos of the freshly blown leaves that my grandson dealt with the other night…

the plan was to clear off the decks and make a path to the back gate… that way it will be easier to shovel, sigh…

been doing lots of reading suggesting that leaving the leaves in the garden is beneficial to little critters…

this was how it looked before… lots of leaves, particularly as I don’t have any deciduous trees, lol…

a few days ago my new iPhone arrived…

my grandson arranged the whole thing and brought over the new phone…

he transferred all the data, made sure everything was working and added a protective screen…

transferring from one phone to another is certainly much easier than the last time I upgraded my phone…

I’ve taken a few pictures and am very impressed with the results…

now I will have to learn what is new and different…

now that the pond is empty and covered with the tarp, the camera isn’t really needed, so it came into the house…

happily, the bottom of it fit perfectly on the camera tripod…

set it up by the window where the bird feeder is attached…

this is particularly good now as the mandevilla blocks the view through the window…

looking forward to getting some great views of the guests at the feeder;-)…

had a delicious dinner recently…

it was great to share a meal inside as we’ve eaten outdoors all summer…

the roast came out perfectly, which made me very happy as the last time I cooked one, it was overdone, lol…

the gravy and the carrots were yummy… and I did have salad afterwards;-)…

good times…

my neighbour brought over a container of chili and asked if I would like more apples…

a month ago they had given me a large bowl full and I made applesauce…

I used small baggies in a muffin tin and it worked well…

this time, I put the sauce directly into the tins, put them in the freezer, and when they were frozen, packaged and popped them back into the freezer…

they were a little difficult to remove from the cold metal, but this will save excess plastic and also take up less space…

today, my BS group gathered in the living room…

we’ve been meeting in the garden but it was only going to 2 degrees Celsius so we decided it was time to come inside…

one person joined via Zoom and had dropped off a lovely treat for us beforehand… boob (for breast cancer awareness month) and regular macarons from Jenna Rae Cakes…

I left the front and back doors open to move fresh air… everyone wore masks until we were all seated…

it was the first time we’ve met in the house since the pandemic began…

felt lovely and odd at the same time, lol…

soon we will all have had the fifth shot which will make us feel a bit more confident about being in a closed space together…

so happy to be getting back to more ‘normal’ times…

went outside and flipped the two rain barrels… one in the garden, and the new one next to the front flowerbed…

although we had drained both, they still had water inside, but once they were turned over, it poured out through the screen…

now they are ready for winter, sigh…

I learned a few years ago that not flipping them can cause serious consequences… lucky for me, the bottom of the one in the garden has returned to flat, lol…
