yesterday my new swim gloves arrived…
and they happen to be purple;-)…
our instructor recommends them as essential gear… can’t wait to try them out later in the week…

January first was new calendar day…
for many years we have had Chihuly calendars… either my daughter or I would get two and give one to the other person;-)…
one year I even made one filled with photos from our trip to see his installation in Atlanta…
this year I changed it up…
I found an Audubon calendar online that shows a different bird each day… ordered two and sent one off with the other Christmas presents…
took down the old one and put up the new one…
I think I will learn a bit and maybe it will even help me with bird identification in the garden…

Sunday we opened gifts over the internet, lol…
we always like to cheers together and being 1330 miles apart doesn’t stop us although it took a bit of direction from the kids for me to get my mug in the right spot, lol…
there were lots of treats and great minds thinking alike as we all opened Chapters/Indigo cards…
technology has made such a difference in our lives…
what a treat;-)…

I wasn’t expecting to get up early, but apparently my body remembers previous Christmas mornings, lol… although it was 6:47 am when I woke up, for many years it was often around 4… and I would eventually start banging pots in the kitchen to encourage all of the sleepers to wake up…
around 7:30 I got up, made breakfast and then read for a while in the living room enjoying the tree lights…
there were matching pyjamas, calls, texts, visits and naps throughout the day… the naps may have had something to do with the 6:47 wake-up, lol…
spaced amongst all of that were relaxing dinner preparations… beautiful mashed potatoes, delicious stuffing and tasty gravy went perfectly with chicken, turnip, ham, and previously homemade cranberry sauce…
I was absolutely spoiled with a myriad of wonderful gifts…
a lovely day… amazingly blessed, as always…

Christmas came on Monday…
my BS group gathered for lunch, a visit, and gift exchange…
we had a great time;-)…
everyone chose what they wanted for lunch and a few of the group picked up the order… we gathered around the dining room table and visited as we enjoyed our meal…
back in the living room we had cookies and coffee, and then shared our goodies;-)…
I am always amazed at the wonderful items that we each find or make for one other… none of us really need anything so it is fun to produce little things to share…
and usually there are donations to favourite charities… mine, this year was to Made with Love, which is helping feed the hungry here in the city…
we usually end with a group photo… technology tried to beat me, but in the end we got a few great pictures;-)…

I’ve been waiting and waiting for stamps to arrive from Canada Post…
was able to drop some items in the mail a few days ago, but still need two stamps…
usually they arrive quickly, so I’ve been wondering what the problem was…
for whatever reason, I wasn’t sleeping, so went online around 2 am and noticed there were things in my Canada Post cart😳…
apparently, I didn’t finish the purchase all those days ago😂…
now they’ve been ordered and should really arrive soon…

had some fun this morning… after going out and shovelling the droppings from the city snow plows…
been planning to colour the letters for these chocolate ornaments that I received from Happy Mail for Chocolate Lovers…
finally got around to it… sadly there was no purple in the paintbox🤪…
I am pleased with how they came out… I used some of my gifts from last year in a slightly different way and enjoyed the time…
now they are on the tree…

once we left The Leaf biomes, we checked out the gift shop and then were able to get a table in the lounge portion of Gather Craft Kitchen and Bar…
the space looks fresh and has some very cool lights…
we were happy to get in because online it appeared there weren’t any spots available until January 😳…
the food was good as was the service… I had pork tenderloin and my grandson had the risotto…
they were both tasty, although I found the pickled carrot purée a bit spicy, lol… the risotto was very tasty…
we ended the meal with two desserts which we shared, lol… I chose the flour-less chocolate fudge cake and my grandson the chocolate mille-feuille…
in the end we liked what the other person ordered best😂…
had a great time and enjoyed the entire evening… can’t wait to go back again…

I’ve been taking the time to enjoy the moments…
one of those moments was my delight at finally getting a stain out of this sweater;-)…
seems like a little thing, but I had tried for ages to get it out… particularly as I have been wearing more long sleeved warm tops…
reminded me of my mom, who loved doing laundry, and could just about remove any stain…

it was around zero, so today’s project involved hooking up the extendible hose in the basement and then topping up the hot tub…
in the process of connecting the hose I had to go out to the garage for a washer… at which point I discovered that the garage side door wouldn’t open… I tried the key, as it seemed locked, but that didn’t work…
I went in through the overhead door and tried to open it from that side, but no luck there either…
in previous winters the problem had been that it wouldn’t stay closed, lol…
so, will have to see what happens in the next while, sigh…
