today I had a lovely time sitting in the sunshine in the living room…

I started a new book by one of my favourite writers and soaked up the warmth… of course, it was -40 outside, lol… so it really was a treat…

have had numerous conversations recently about our lack of sun… cold weather is much easier to accept when the sky is blue and a big yellow ball is in it… we are not getting the amount of sunshine that we used to…

I spent time taking photos of the light and shadows around the house as the sun shone in various areas…

fun…

been thinking of my beloved a lot lately… Valentine’s Day is coming up and we always celebrated…

as I was washing dishes I was reminded of his strong hands and how he always dealt with the seriously dirty pots…

he could clean them up in no time, unlike me who used the same items to clean them but they never came out as good as when he did it, lol…

today I was scrubbing one of the Corningware pots that we’ve had since we were first married… it looked terrible so I dug out the Mr. Clean eraser

I didn’t take any photos before I started, just part way through, and at the end…

with a bit of elbow grease I was able to improve the look a lot… not as good as he would have done, lol…

not sure what is in them, but they are rather amazing and the pot looks excellent…

today, I walked to the Park, had lunch with friends, and walked home without any pain in my knee…

it is the furthest I’ve walked in months…

the weather was cool, a bit breezy, and snow fell gently as I walked… I left in lots of time for my lunch date so I didn’t have to rush… I’m finding that as long as I don’t try to walk too quickly I am good…

and what a treat to have lunch and a visit with two wonderful women…

good to get out and move… was very happy and pleased that the sidewalks were clear and not icy/slippery…

looking forward to more pain-free walks…

been enjoying the beautiful vase that my colleagues presented to me to commemorate my retirement…

it is now living on the top of the credenza in the living room… when the light is on, it shines through the design beautifully…

when I had flowers in it, I put them into a plastic bag so they wouldn’t mess up the inside, lol…

the flowers from the Board would have gone nicely in it;-)…

bonbons…

a few days ago I received my second Advent All Year parcel from my daughter… (here’s the story of the first one)…

in it were a beautiful handmade card; my favourite Raspberry Chocolate bar (including one for my grandson, who also loves it); and a box of bonbons she chose from a recent visit to Soma chocolatemaker… the box had the coolest extra packing paper as she mentioned she would be mailing it…

one thing I’ve learned from her is that great bonbons need to be eaten quickly before they expire… particularly when they are made with only fresh ingredients…

so, every morning I’ve been choosing one and eating it before I have my breakfast…

such a delicious way to start the day when my taste buds aren’t muddied with other flavours…

I am blessed;-)…

mentioned to someone the other day that I had gone downstairs to the living room to sit in the sun, but it wasn’t shining on the couch…

today I went down earlier expecting to see sun on my spot..

no such luck… apparently the sun doesn’t hit the living room at that angle at this time of the year, lol…

it shines on the other side of the room…

so while the sun was shining, I sat in the chair by the window and then in one of the black chairs…

the sun felt wonderful;-)…

a bit later I got this picture as it was going down…

so blessed to be able to see the movement of the sun at this time of year…

had some plans to head out to get some things done this morning…

but, it was really cold and none of them had to happen, so I decided to stay home…

got dressed, first time in a few days… did some work on the computer and read some of my current book…

also wound the clock which hasn’t been going for a few days…

nice to hear the ringing… reminds me of my mom and dad… this clock came from their apartment…

filled nine boxes with books a few days ago…

the computer room looks like a bomb went off in it, so I am rather pleased to have started the cleanup process…

happily, it was easy to pack them up… I spent many years collecting books on religion, feminism and spirituality… now seems like a good time to pass them along to someone else…

I also gathered many books on children and worship…

planning to drop them off at the Fire Station in the next while…

put aside a few that covered Celtic writings…

once I find a few more empty boxes I will continue with the decluttering;-)…

looking forward to having shelves with space on them, not crammed with books I no longer read…

had some fun taking flower pictures yesterday…

the crocus and hyacinth are doing very well and enjoying the light in the living room… also some tulips at the grocery store…

orchid blooms are looking lovely and I picked up an orchid on sale at Save-On-Foods that is now living in the bedroom…
