fastener…

I’ve had this cute little bag since a visit to Alaska in 2013…

I usually use it to protect my camera in my purse… sometimes I’ve worn it cross body when I’ve needed to carry my phone, without using my hands, or if I don’t have pockets…

a few days ago I figured out how to wear it around my waist…

added another fastener to it which makes it much easier to clip on and off…

in these last few years, being on my own, I have felt it more important to have my phone close at hand in case I trip, fall, or need help for some other reason…

going to be much easier now…

up way too early to get ready for my BS buddies who were coming over for brunch and sharing of Christmas gifts…

everyone brought something for the meal… there were avocados, breads, cheeses, jam and eggs… delicious

lots of great conversation and some wonderful gifts were shared…

home baking, jam, eco wrap, chocolate, handmade aprons and donations… love throughout…

these women have been an integral part of my life for over 30 years… through all the good and bad times…

what a wonderful time we have together;-)…

had Christmas dinner with the kids tonight… we’d decided to have a non-traditional meal, except there would be stuffing, lol…

we had presents, decorated gingerbread house pieces, opened Christmas crackers, enjoyed a delicious steak and lobster dinner with stuffing muffins, twice-stuffed potatoes, mushrooms, and salad… finished up with gingerbread pieces that had a lot of icing and candies on them, lol…

on Christmas Day I will fly to Ottawa to spend time with my daughter, son-in-law and his mom… looking forward to meeting her for the first time;-)…

as I remember many wonderful Christmas traditions, from the years while my beloved was with us to the years since he’s been gone, I look forward to new traditions we may start this year…

memories and moments;-)…

it was beautiful inside and out…

currently the temperature outside feels like -11C at 6 pm…pretty darn warm;-)…

saw the most stunning sky to welcome the Winter Solstice early this morning…

had breakfast with my grandson, prepared potatoes for tomorrow’s dinner, made stuffing and had a wonderful visit with a dear young woman…

I also got all of my Smart pieces of technology working correctly;-)… did laundry and brought up the suitcase…

I’ve watched some horse jumping and almost had a nap…

sounds crazy busy, but there were lots of breaks sitting in front of the tree listening to Christmas music…

blessed;-)…

had the most delightful day with my grandson…

we had breakfast at one of our favourite places, ran a few errands and spent six hours at Thermea

went in when it was light, and left in the dark…

today was the first time I’ve had a massage there and it was lovely… I like the Swedish, gentle, ones… my grandson had the deep tissue one, lol… I think he might be bruised, but he was happy…

then it was on to the thermal experience… even the Polar pool a few times… we attended an Aufguss ritual, spent time in nearly all the saunas, sat by the fire, enjoyed both pools, had supper and spent more time in the cool pool and hot tub…

just like his mother, aunt and grandfather, he can find people he’s met before in any place he goes;-)… and had a lengthy chat with them…

what a wonderful day it has been… on our way home he treated me to a Dairy Queen ice cream cone – one of my favourites ;-)…

supplier…

yesterday I received a message that some flowers were coming my way…

I spoke with the florist who advised they would arrive before end of day…

but then, 6 pm came and went… they usually close at that time, so I figured there would be no flowers…

around 7:30 they arrived… still wasn’t sure who was sending them…

they were well wrapped because it was cold outside…

opened them up to discover a beautiful bouquet of orchids, roses and carnations…

they were from a Toronto supplier I had worked with over the last ten years…

a lovely surprise

have had a few busy days… out for dinner on Monday night, lunch and shopping yesterday…

once again this morning there some issues with the thermostat so I called MTS again… they had someone come out just after lunch so I spent the morning in the house… didn’t want to miss them…

it was a nice young man who had worked for a supplier we’d used at my work… he replaced the extender/booster (depends on who you talk to, lol) and then went through the process of renaming the network connection and re-entering the password…

after that he advised I would need to change the network for all of my devices, sigh…

the Nest is easy to get connected… yay…

if you remember, last time I did this for the Google family, it was a complete accident when it worked, lol…

so far all the Google Home pieces are working, but once again all of the TP-link devices are not cooperating…

I think I am going to let that go until tomorrow;-)…

towel…

over the last week or so I’ve put a towel at the bottom of the front door to help keep the warm in, and the cold out… apparently they are called door snakes or draft dodgers…

it has made me giggle every time I walk past as it reminds me of a dear friend’s mom… she lived in a huge, but very old, house and all winter she would throw fur coats at the bottom of various doors in the house to stop the cold from entering…

so funny, lol…

which is why I giggle when I see my towel blocking the cold from entering the house…

maybe I should be looking for a purple one;-)…

today I started to make some of the needed changes around the house…

I’ve changed the schedule on my Nest thermostat so that the temperature stays the same throughout the day… previously I had it lower the temp while I was at work…

I am going to update the programming on my Google Home… used to have 2 different set ups in the morning… one provided information for a work day, and the other for “the weekend”… no more work days;-)…

my automatic timers currently turn the lights off at 8 am… going to need to change that too, lol… I cannot get those timers to cooperate no matter what I do…

today I changed from those automated timers to a TP-link smart plug… now I can tell Google when to turn them on and off…

and I finally got the tree lights to respond to commands as well…

next up I am going to check into lights for the chandelier and bathroom that will respond to verbal commands;-)…

so much to do, but lots of time…

for Advent my daughter sent me a collection of watercolour cards with quotations on the back… she painted each one and hand printed the sayings… I haven’t heard yet where she found them…

I had decided that this year I would spend time each morning being grateful for a particular thing, but didn’t have a list… that was as far as I’d got, lol…

I’ve found that the quotes on the cards have prompted me just enough to choose a topic…

it has been very cathartic

here are a few of my favourites so far…

certainly a lovely way to begin the day…
