simple cup of tea you say… not so much…

wore a small purse to hold my phone, the cup that wasn’t quite empty and the garbage from my lunch…

only used one crutch so I could carry the thermos back… and in the purse I carried sweetener, the empty cup, a can of the milk I use, along with the opener for it…

going to the kitchen, boiling the kettle, gathering the other items and returning to the bedroom takes a huge amount of energy

but did that first cup of tea ever taste delicious;-)…

amazing what you can figure out when needed, lol…

although I still need someone to come and deal with the spider in the bathtub…

well, yesterday did not turn out as planned…

my grandson was coming over around nine so we could have breakfast at the “A”… then we were going to be picked up and go to St. Norbert Farmers Market… from there we were planning to stop at some grocery stores for a few goodies…

I got dressed, put on a jacket and started walking to breakfast… I just made it past the end of the street when my leg basically stopped working… it was so painful that I couldn’t put any weight on it…

I called and had my grandson pick me up from where I was… he practically had to carry me to the car… we went home, picked up my medical card and drove to Grace Hospital…

he knew just what to do… ran in, got a chair for me, and then took me right to the registration clerks…

I really appreciated this as I was not able to put any weight on it… he volunteers at St. Boniface on a regular basis…

I saw the triage nurse right away and then we waited… were moved into a room and met with a physician’s assistant who decided on an X-ray, ice and some pain meds… eventually they decided on a walker or crutches and keeping my leg elevated at home… we decided on crutches and were home by three…

then there was the entertainment of getting up the three steps and over the threshold into the house… not really that fun…

neighbours came out from both sides to see what was going on and I discovered that one was a nurse… she gave me her number in case I needed her;-)…

this was me laying on the pullout couch on the main floor with a tv going and a bag of frozen peas under my knee… a friend was by, tidied the kitchen, set me up with tea, snacks, additional pillows and a reminder to take it slow;-)…

going to be an interesting few days I think, lol…

density..

I’ve been having a bit of trouble with my knee recently… my physiotherapist named it osteoarthritis when the same thing happened last year…

yesterday I had a bone density test, which thankfully turned out to be a scan, lol… not anyone sticking anything into my bones, whew…

part of the process involved the technician twisting my foot and using a weight to hold it in place while the pictures were taken…

unfortunately it really irritated my knee…

this morning it was still a touch grumpy although I’m sure the rainy weather isn’t helping, lol…

I’ve been trying to walk faster and further following my doctor’s instructions, but I’ve decided to back off a bit and try slower and longer to see if that makes it feel better…

been thinking of all I am grateful for in my life…

things as simple as my beautiful morning glories…

the option to take a cab somewhere if that makes the most sense…

the ability to make whatever I would like for my dinner…

opportunities to visit with friends…

being able to thank special people…

having time

my daughter called yesterday morning and while we were chatting I looked out the window and spotted this downy woodpecker

it first landed on the metal pole and I was very worried it might try to drill into the metal and hurt itself, lol…

while we were on the phone I took quite a few photos as it moved over and gathered sunflower seeds…

not sure I’ve ever seen one of these guys at the feeder…

so… all summer I woke up in the morning and the light from outside was enough to start my day…

now I am talking to Google so she can turn on the lights, advise the temperature in the house, share information about the weather and the drive to work…

as I leave the house I have to remember to tell her I am out of here so she turns everything off, or down, for the day…

feels too soon to be back into this practice…

got this shot of the morning glories before leaving for the office…

not only can you see the bloom that opened this morning (purple) but yesterday’s one as well (pink)… even a few mandevilla blossoms are visible…

good thing because it has been raining since leaving the office…

been enjoying some show jumping on TV from Spruce Meadows…

beautiful horses and quite amazing riding

reminded me of my wonderful sister-in-law who came for a visit last weekend… she’s been recovering from a riding accident in June…

it was lovely to have her in the garden

I am over-the-moon with excitement…

some time ago I realized that I hadn’t planted any morning glories and was very sad because I really love the flowers… the inner light is mesmerizing

recently I realized that some seeds from last summer had sprouted in a large container of soil that was sitting under the deck… they hadn’t had any water or sunlight but were growing…

I moved the pot out into the sun and made sure to put water in it… and watched it every day…

a week ago I saw what looked to be buds and I’ve examined them each day to see what would happen… since then we’ve had quite a bit of rain, overcast skies, and cooler temperatures, so I’ve been worried they wouldn’t bloom…

but… this is what happened…

I spent extra time in the garden today sitting and enjoying the purple flowers…

I am in my happy place… flowers really do make me happy;-)…
