our most recent visit to Gather Craft Kitchen & Bar at The Leaf was great…

we had a bit of a giggle because we were seated exactly where we were the last time we were there, lol…

it is a nice spot as you can people watch as everyone is entering and leaving The Leaf…

I had mussels, which were tasty… we shared some focaccia bread, and my grandson had the beef short rib ragu…

always a treat ;-)…

yesterday, I gathered up most of the bird feeders, filled them with the last of the birdseed, and hung them onto the front pole…

wondered how long it will take the birds to find it here and hoping the deer won’t be coming by;-)…

well, by this morning, the chickadees, nuthatches, and sparrows had found it…

was excited to see that I caught two of the nuthatches snacking at the same time…

another delightful visit to The Leaf…

we arrived around 4:30 pm Thursday and the biomes were nearly empty of people… which was wonderful for us;-)…

it really is astonishing how the plants have thrived since the opening in December 2022…

the Tropical biome is lush with greenery and it was fun to notice changes since I was last there…

then we moved into the Mediterranean biome… for the first time ever, it was very cool…

the Yasuragi display is lovely… we spent quite a bit of time studying the bonsai and noting how old many of them were…

what an amazing art-form…

can’t wait to go back and enjoy this beautiful space…

today the three fish in the bathtub pond moved into their winter condo… one of the rocks that had been in that pond was also brought in to provide a tunnel for the fish…

the tanks have been filled and running since September 30th, although the biggest one has a lot of algae in it so these fish will be testing whether it is ready for inhabitants

we will likely wait another week or so before moving the rest of the school…

so far, they appear happy;-)…

today we removed the wired Geeni motion sensing light/camera on the garage that no longer works since we changed to Shaw, sigh… this one, as well as two cameras inside the house, stopped working, but the one in the garden is still working perfectly…

it didn’t take too long, but dealing with any type of electrical always makes me nervous…

so far it looks good…

hoping that we can sell the one we took down as it worked perfectly;-)…

recently I picked up some frames to use with some dove cards that were just taped to the wall…

it only took us a little while to add nails and get the two bottom ones up…

then we had to use some ingenuity to attach the top one…

I am very pleased with the results;-)…

lifetime…

walked past the empty lot which used to hold a church where I spent many hours in what feels like a previous lifetime

thought about all the times I had parked the car alongside it and the satisfaction and struggles that had ensued in it…

and the amazing results… the wonderful friends who have been with me through so many life events…

life is certainly a journey and involved big girl pants, even then…

the other day, I drove to the pedestrian bridge and walked over to the Park Café where I met a birthday buddy for breakfast and a visit…

I would usually walk but one of my feet was a tad unhappy, so only walking partway made sense…

I even wore running shoes😳…

usually we meet between our birthdays, but this year got a bit hectic, lol…

I had falafel with red pepper hummus and we talked the entire time…

then I had a quick walk through the English and Leo Mol Gardens before making my way back to the car and driving home…

and, my foot didn’t bother me;-)…

I’ve been wanting to change the drapes in the den for a while now…

I brought down the ones I wanted from upstairs and went to fetch the step-stool, that was currently in the basement, to get the job done…

my housemate noticed what I was doing and came upstairs…

he, very cleverly, took the rod off off the wall to add the new pieces… they are much lighter and go over the light blocking ones currently hanging there…

I was planning on struggling with them while they were still up on the wall..

how brilliant was he;-)…

for Thanksgiving dinner we had steak and lobster… enjoyed setting the table a little fancier than normal..

a fun change, and happy to have the steak grilled..

and it was delicious…

as was the cute little half pumpkin pie for dessert, lol…

even cheated and used canned whipped cream, which saved time and energy;-)…
