the cottage is filled with lovely art…

there are wonderful stained glass pieces, beautiful hanging blankets, original animal paintings, and even some birchbark biting pieces…

we’ve been watching the hummingbird feeder since we arrived and on Tuesday, when we were at the table eating our supper we spotted the first one… having their meal too;-)…

Wednesday, while we were eating lunch, two of them had a little confrontation over who got to eat first…

Friday, while I was on the lower deck reading in the sun, one came right up to me before flying off… once you’ve heard a hummingbird, you always recognize the sound of their wings fluttering, lol…

what a treat;-)…

Friday morning, as I was uncovering the couch on the upper deck, I spotted this cute little visitor… I got a few photos as it moved around the various cushions looking for just the right spot to sun itself in…

looks like it is a tree frog and apparently they can change colour, like chameleons… clearly it went from dark gray to light gray…

last night there was a nice lightening and thunderstorm so the cushions were a bit damp, even after being covered…

but they didn’t take too long to dry in the sunshine…

the water was calm and the birds were trilling away…

our first whole day at the cottage was low key…

the sun came out occasionally, but the wind was busy the entire day and there was a fair amount of rain…

we ventured out a few times to watch the waves and listen to the birds…

in between, we read and napped and watched nature take its course out the windows…

my daughter got this lovely shot on her new Galaxy android… between the raindrops, lol…

it take wonderful pictures…

on Friday I put out all the cushions and pillows as it was supposed to be sunny all day…

it is a bit of a process, because I put one out at a time, which helps me get steps, particularly as I spend a lot of time in the garden on my butt, reading…

it looked beautiful… the poppies, which don’t match my colour scheme at all, were blooming and dancing in the breeze and many of the pots and planters had flowers smiling…

I was surprised when my daughter arrived for a visit… she has been staying with a friend who has a lovely guestroom, lol… we spent a lovely time in this beautiful space, talking about everything and nothing…

she left and shortly after Hilda the Gardener arrived for some maintenance… we visited as she tidied up all the beds and pathways… it looks so nice when she is done;-)…

later as I was enjoying the space my daughter called and suggested we go to The Leaf…

I walked over to the other side of the bridge and she picked me up and we headed to the biomes…

we had a fun time checking out all the growth since she was here last year and had a lovely visit with the three cacao trees;-)…

always wonderful to spend time with her;-)…

the other day my daughter taught me a great trick for photographing flowers that haven’t turned up… this was her before photo…

as she was taking the picture she put the camera on reverse and set it below the flower…

what a great idea… here is one I took…

how cool is that…

well, after grocery shopping and packing up what felt like tons of stuff, we set off on our adventure…

we have returned to the superb Airbnb that we spent a week at last year…

it took about two and a half hours from leaving the house to sitting on the deck with tea and a refresher…

didn’t take very long to unpack the groceries and our personal stuff… then we headed to the upper deck to enjoy the scenery and our drinks…

as I sat there I listened to the waves gently lapping the shore, and heard the warblers, vireos, and sparrows singing in the trees nearby… and we’d already watched a couple of ducks working on their afternoon snacks as a pelican fly by…

what a delightful treat this time together is;-)…

was thinking of my dad as I was making scrambled eggs recently…

he was a great cook and always used a fork when scrambling eggs… he said it made them fluffier… he always added a touch of milk or water as he prepared them…

it was a lovely memory around Father’s Day;-)…

he was a very special person and I think of him often…

the other day I counted thirty-two poppy buds…

since then twenty-six have opened… I go out every morning to take pictures and count them, lol…

they look so beautiful weaving back and forth in the breeze…

they were one of my beloved’s favourite flowers… maybe because they signalled the beginning of summer…

they decide where they will pop up and I am always so happy when they turn up each year… this time they are in the front of the garden;-)…

yesterday I went into the pond to take out the small pump and clean it…

it was very dirty, ugh… the process of getting in and out of the pond involves a chair, towel, watershoes, and this time, a bucket to put the bits that needed to be cleaned…

then I used the hose to clean everything… dirty business, lol…

after I put the pump back, it was working better, but not as well I was hoping for…

and I cleaned out the main pump while I was in there;-)… glad that job is done…
